A guide to jewelry making provides readers with step-by-step full-color photographs and all the technical knowledge necessary to create modern and traditional jewelry from many different materials.
First off, this is the correct edition (1993) that I read but the author is Jinks McGrath.
The book is a good overview of lots of more complex jewelry-making techniques, not your basic how-to-bead book. There is actually nothing devoted to basic beading. Lots of photos accompany the materials, equipment, and how-to techniques. Ideas for setting up your workshop is a great plus. The projects presented are definitely more high-end and may be a stretch for the true novice. Where the book falls short is in explanations that assume that the reader is much more knowledgable about jewelry making. Advanced vocabulary is not defined within the text nor in the glossary. Given that I read this book 25 years after publication, some jewelry pieces look dated but for the information is still very useful.
