Well that escalated quickly! So many things start to happen and there are so many red herrings it kept me on the edge of my seat! I still don’t know if Maleficum was good or bad. I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens! I loved reading this book!

I'm glad they published a Spanish version of this series or it wouldn't have landed on my radar. I was looking for middle grade fantasy that would be an accessible read for my level of Spanish and this series popped up. I never expected to enjoy the story as much as I did. It kept my interest and helped me push through the difficult task of reading a book outside of my native language. A lot more fun than the graded readers I've read prior.

Good pacing. The characters are likeable and they really develop in this book, along with the world building. The comedic tones had me giving a shoulder shrug, nose exhale laugh at times.

While I wouldn't say it's my favourite fantasy series, it exceeded my expectations as an adult reading a middle grade fantasy series and kept me in it to the end. I hope the Lockhavens publish a fourth book. It'd be a shame to end the series with the unanswered questions left in this one. If they finish the story I'll happily come back to see where it goes from here.

This book had a very big bang finish to the series. It was scary just like the other books and exciting. The characters bond a lot and meet new friends. I However, the new theme introduced was sad. recommended to 10 to 14-year-old.
