This was like a summary of The Ismailis: Their history and doctrines with the added bonus of beautiful illustrations. If you don't want to plough through the 700 plus pages of Daftary's original epic, then this is a good substitute. Personally, I found the epic more enlightening and this version at times, hard to follow, because so much was omitted. However, still a great book because of the visuals.
