Andy Goldsworthy is one of the leading British sculptors working with nature in the landscape. He has made remarkable sculptures from natural materials around the world, and enjoys an international reputation. This beautifully produced, highly praised and readable book combines superlative illustrations with specially commissioned essays by leading writers familiar with the artist and his work.
I didn't read the text of this book, only looked at the photographs. But, oh my goodness! They are incredible! Andy Goldsworthy is a nature sculptor, creating ephemeral masterpieces out of rock, leaves, flower petals, sand, raindrops. His art is astounding -- indescribable -- profound. Absolutely amazing!!
This is an overview of the artist's work from 1976-1990. It contains a beautiful selection of his work; I wasn't as interested in the text talking about his work, but I suppose it would be helpful and interesting to some people.
A quick pass through this marvelous book is a re-initialization of one's relationship with all of nature. Goldsworthy is touched by nature, and he touches back, gently, tenderly and passionately. I now look for magic everywhere!
if you have never seen Andy Goldworthy's work you will be blown away and much inspired by his stone art structures and his look at nature. makes you want to have something so beautiful in your own garden.
This retrospective on his sculpture/photography is excellent....more than just pictures. The explanations of the efforts make the pieces more and more interesting. Amazing and beautiful!
