Rate this book
For as long as Courtney can remember, she’s suffered from vivid visions, though no one has ever believed her. She questions herself too, until the dorm elevator opens and she’s staring at a face she’s seen hundreds of times— a man she thought was a figment of her imagination. But if her visions aren’t fantasies after all, this mysterious stranger and his dark secrets will change the course of her life.

Ollie’s demons don’t whisper, they scream. Day and night, the ghosts of his past peel him apart, reminding him that he’s a monster— one who is being hunted by his creators. Between paranoia and traumatic flashbacks, it’s his mission to numb himself with every substance possible. At least, that was the plan before meeting Courtney Whitewood. Alarms instantly go off when he looks in her eyes and finds a cement wall barring access. Ollie doesn't believe in coincidences and although her beauty is distracting, he's determined to find out if this girl is an informant set on taking him down. He will get to the bottom of it, if she doesn't get to him first.

**Note that this is a DARK romantic fantasy for 18+ audience. The themes in this book are for mature audiences. Check inside of e-book for CW.

Listen here! I have a bone to pick with Mrs. Julia McColgan..... How dare you leave me with such a cliffhanger! Did I loved the book?Yes! Did I loved the characters? Yes! Did I loved the plot? Absofreakinglutetly! Did I liked the cliffhanger? Of course! But man the torture of having to wait for the next book to come out is gonna be torture 😓. I don't even know where to start with this book. We got college setting. Be prepared to fall in love with this two. Both have dark past. Their life's are not what they seemed. They will embark in a journey to unravel lies. There's supernatural powers. And spice! Lots of it and so freaking good. Also our MFC strength development. Oh boy I can't wait to see what's gonna happen in the next book!

We have Courtney. Her entire life she's been pretty much alone. Her mom has been mentally abusive towards her. Always talking about how she ruined her life the minute she was born. In addition to that she has this ability to see visions... and one of those visions turn out to be of a beautiful man she never thought she'll ever see in real life.

Then we have Ollie! Mr. Beautiful man. Tattoos and stand-offish vibes. Turns out he has a special power too. He can read people's minds and manipulate their thoughts so when he comes face to face with the only person he can't get inside their mind he is determined to find out why!

I wanted to love this book. The plot is unique and had a lot of potential to be great. However, this fell flat for me due to plot gaps and pacing - both of the storyline and character development. The relationships were so rushed that they weren’t authentic and felt incredibly juvenile.

A easy quick read that I couldn't put down. It gave me like an adult Stranger Things vibe, which I loved. Such a good read! It left off with a cliffhanger so I can't wait to read what happens next.

THIS BOOK WAS FUCKING AMAZING!
So this was a book choice for a traveling book project I'm doing with friends and let me tell you this one will stay with me.

If you’re a fan of the found family trope I think you should pick this up! This is extremely character-driven with the most loveable band of misfits! Ollie and Courtney are our heroes - though I’m getting strong anti-hero vibes 👀 looking at you Court.) But all the other characters were strong enough to stand on their own. My favorite character was the MMC's best friend, Jack. The level of SASS on this boi, omg.

Also, the dynamic between Court and Ollie is not one I’ve seen in a book before! It’s giving serial killer couple where the woman calls the shots and her husband does the dirty work and FUCK ITS SO GOOD! Honestly pick this up it’s a wild ride!

Also, there’s a golden retriever in it named Buddy so there’s that.

Uniquely different and refreshing. Fantastic debut novel!

The overall concept and the cover initially drew me in, but what captivated me was how relatable the characters were written. There are certain phrases and actions by the main characters and their families that had me chuckling, grimacing and relating back to my own upbringing. She wrote the antagonists in a way that I feel many will be able to relate to and reflect on their own stories.

From the very beginning, I was invested in the main characters and their journey. Although very hard, I intentionally slowed my reading because I wanted to stay in their world longer. The intricate web that was woven and twisted numerous times had me craving answers, but also pausing periodically to really enjoy the smaller details and events that occurred outside of the main plot.
Based on how well the story was written, I would have never known that this was the authors first book. I will now wait impatiently for this authors future stories.

If you are looking for a book with relatable characters/events, spice and sci-fi/paranormal themes, then do yourself a favor and read this book.
Highly Recommend!!!

4.25 ⭐️ Holy shit did I enjoy this book way more than I thought I would.
I went into this pretty blind and I’m SO glad I did.
Despite containing one of my least favourite tropes (insta love) I can understand why it was necessary to the story because Courtney and Ollie were just absolute everything 😩
I loved the found family that developed in this and the side characters of the family (cough jack cough) and to my delight I didn’t realise until towards the end of this book that this is a series!!!
Hands down one of the best paranormal romances I’ve read. If you’ve ever watched the TV show Misfits in the UK and also Stranger Things I really think you’ll like this as the powers and being hunted elements def give those vibes.
Chefs kiss, can’t wait to continue 🤌🏼

That was not at all what I expected. I actually liked the characters. There are so many unanswered questions. A little annoyed with some of the immature frat boy scenes, but overall this was such a great story. Can’t wait to read the second book.

4.5 stars. “Plucked from an angelic fantasy, my demon reared his head with dark intent to shred every ounce of innocence from her and drag her into my depravity.”

✔️collegiate academic setting

✔️protective bonds
✔️community of gifted individuals
✔️spicy 🥵
✔️touch her and 💀 AND touch him and 💀
✔️would burn the world for each other
✔️dystopian government conspiracies

This dark sci-fi romance will suck you in! The male main character kinda reminded me of Edward Cullen, ngl, but instead of protecting her virtue he tells her he wouldn’t mind corrupting her (no he’s not a vampire but there are other similarities). This book was giving me The Bonds That Tie, Eleven from Stranger Things, X-men, Twilight, and a touch of Euphoria vibes. The plot is centered around a college freshman named Courtney who has had visions of the future her whole life. As she moves into her college dorm she sees the gorgeous man who has been haunting her visions for years.

Oliver has spent his whole life subduing the the demon inside him by whatever means necessary. His mind is full of dark secrets. When he sees Courtney, he instantly knows there’s something different about her and it terrifies him. He doesn’t trust her but he finds himself drawn to her all the same, feeling a strange primal need to be close to her.

A medical clinic in the state has an interest in some of the students at the university. Mysterious letters and sketchy records are discovered. What are they doing in this lab??? And what do they want with these students?

Ahhh! This book was my first ever ARC and I was very pleasantly surprised at how quickly it sucked me in for a debut indie-author novel. I was a little concerned when Julia asked me to read it that I would struggle pulling myself away from finishing up the Zodiac Academy series to read this and give her feedback in a timely manor, but I finished 50% of this book within 24 hours of receiving the e-ARC. I could not get enough!

Overall, It was such a satisfying read and a wonderful escape from reality. I loved the plot and the romance dynamic! Ollie definitely had my heart from the beginning. I truly enjoyed the playlist as well. Huge cliffhanger at the end so I need the next one soon!!!

~A Perfect World~⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶
This book had me locked in from start to finish. I couldn't put it down! A Perfect World is full of love, support, deceit, and betrayal.

Courtney grew up thinking she was an unwanted child and was treated that way as well.
Ollie was hated by his father and hated himself. He couldn't see the value he had to offer others
As Courtney, Ollie, and friends meet up at college, they realize they share something in common. Their secret will change their lives.

Despite everything  Courtney and Ollie endured, they gave each other strength and someone to lean on.
The supporting characters were all given strong roles and had depth to them. I felt emotional towards the characters, as in I loved or hated who they were (for good reasons!)
Although I loved several of the characters, Buddy was definitely my favorite and I have more questions about him!
This was a great book and I'm excited for the book 2 release to help me get off this cliff!
Please check the trigger warnings as there are several.

This book had a lot of great potential. I wish we would have gotten some more slow burn/ getting to know more of the characters and how they began to fall in love with each other vs. the immediate love you feelings. I felt it was very insta-love, so it missed the mark with me on that aspect. The storyline took some interesting turns. However, I was really confused when the journal was introduced. Overall, this was such a creative story for a debut series from this author. After that last chapter, I'm interested in how this next book will go.

When I tell you I didn’t want to blink through the entire book I mean it. I will never have enough of this story. This is my first SciFi outside of Alien smut and this didn’t disappoint at all. It kept me wanting to know what happened next or how they could succeed. Ollie is everything you could ever want in a possessive protective book boyfriend. Everyone over coming their trauma hit hard. Ollie struggling with his addiction was a close to home topic. This book is engraved into my soul, I am so excited to read A Perfect Life.

Title: A Riveting Dive into Shadows: "A Perfect World" by Julia E. McColgan

My inaugural journey into the literary realm of Julia E. McColgan "A Perfect World" proved to be an enthralling dark romance that left a permanent mark on my reader's soul. From the very beginning, it was clear this would not be an ordinary romance novel, and indeed, it was anything but.

The narrative introduces us to a group of college students with fuzzy origins, humorously referring to themselves as products of a lab experiment. Blessed (or cursed) with preternatural abilities, the characters grapple with the mystery surrounding their births, suspecting a darker purpose. McColgan's storytelling prowess lies in her ability to weave a tale of suspense and intrigue.

One of the initial challenges I faced was the heavy reliance on introspection, making the story a bit challenging to follow. However, the deeper I dug, I realized that the complexity was intentional and added layers to the narrative. Like some of the best books I've read, "A Perfect World" had a deliberate, if not entirely smooth, start.

The heart of the story beats with the slow-burn romance between Courtney and Ollie. Their dynamic, filled with banter, passion, and a palpable emotional connection, had me hooked from the outset. McColgan masterfully crafts a relationship that feels authentic and compelling, making readers believe in the undeniable connection between the characters, even if the term "soul mates" is not explicitly used in this installment.

For me, what sets this novel apart is the impeccable characterization. Every character possesses a distinct personality, adding depth and richness to the story. It was the characters that became my anchor through the narrative with an insatiable curiosity about their fates.

As the story unfolds, McColgan peels back the layers of mystery, revealing the true horror beneath the surface. The gradual revelation of the characters' grim reality adds a tension that's both captivating and chilling.

In conclusion, "A Perfect World" has firmly established Julia E. McColgan as a master storyteller in my eyes. While the initial challenges of navigating introspection were present, the payoff was well worth it. The slow-burn romance, well-developed characters, and plot that kept me guessing until the very end make this dark romance a must-read. This may have been my first McColgan novel, but it certainly won't be my last. Her ability to craft a compelling narrative with nuanced characters has left me eager for the next installment of the series (The Perfect World).

Spoilers below:

- touch her/him and die
- dual pov
- government testing
- spice
- hidden powers
- ends on cliffhanger

This is a debut novel and I liked the idea that Julia had for the book. I think, if it was to be rewritten, we would need about 500 pages or so because that is the amount of information we get in this book. I liked the plot and this is something I would have definitely read instead of paying attention in class in high school because it has a lot of drama, conspiracy, powers, and other things I loved reading back then.

The plot that we have a group of kids tested on as embryos by the government is not a common theme you see, though there are some similar themes (like gov testing in general). So I liked the premise of the entire book. This small group has powers and are being watched/hunted by the lab or corporation that created them and seems to be elusive but has also employed other college students into getting them back to the corporation. Ollie's grandmother tries to turn him over, and he offs her. Courtney's ex-boyfriend is abusive and turns into an agent of the corporation? Some of it feels a little unclear when reading through at times. Courtney's mom is also aware of what she is and played dumb about it the entire time until called out. She also ends up in a mental hospital to be watched by the corporation who created her.

I do feel that the book had a rushed feeling to it even though I liked the story. For what I detailed above about the plot, I definitely need scenes to last longer and have more details so we can understand backstory/get a better picture of what is going on. We get a lot of action happening in the book and I think given a longer book we could have fleshed out a lot of the book better. I do want more detail on this journal thing that Ollie has and we need to see the group do some training or practicing with their powers. This has really cool caveats and side plots and friend plots so I would love to see more development on these in the next book.

Overall I think the story is a great one and I will be reading book two because I cannot leave things unfinished and I want to see how everything wraps up. If there was ever a rewrite I would read that one as well. I love, love the premise and the idea of the book and I do not fault the author for my personal preferences. I think this was a wonderful debut book and hope to see more from the creative mind because she has a lot of fun ideas.

It took me a while to take this book off my TBR, and I don't know why I waited.

Perfect World is engaging, thrilling and superbly written, with a dark side, a spicy side and thrilling side. The main characters, Courtney and Ollie, spiral around one another at the start, in love even before there are words. Both damaged in their own way, both special in their own way. Ollie is dark, a junkie and capable of murder. Courtney emerges from a gaslighting relationship, making Ollie a massive swerve in terms of her romantic interests. Almost from before birth, their destinies entwine, so their coming together is natural. As all enraptured soulmates do, they get together intimately. Julia doesn't hold back on the details. Whilst well-written, it did not feel like viewing the steamier scenes in such details drove the plot forward. Had every scene been terse or fade to black, I'd have got the same out of the meat of the book.

The way Julia weaves the mystery of their birth into the plot is exceptional. The shadowy Merit Organisation. Who are they? Why did they do what they did? All questions yet to be answered, for I feel this tale is unfinished. There is a second in the series, but the blurb suggests it is a different story, with no mention of either Courtney or Ollie.

So far, so good. Why only four stars?

Ollie reveals a notebook two thirds of the way through the book. I didn't like it and found it confusing. Without revealing spoilers, the parts of the book where this notebook feature feel dark like a Batman movie. I.e., you can't see what's going on. I had to re-read a couple of sections to grasp what happened. Additionally, where the book ends, the notebook feels like a supernatural escape plan. A true deus ex machina. A bit of a letdown for me. Given what had gone before, I expected the group to come together to face the end scene with their established powers. Maybe a sequel will build on it. If I see Ollie and Courtney re-appear in a future novel, I will read it, because this is a great book.

Is it worth reading? Absolutely. If you're a fan of Misfits, you'll find this right up your alley.

📚 REVIEW OF PAPERBACK EDITION 📚

I have wanted to read this for agggggessss

The idea behind this story is intriguing and much like a Stranger Things kind of vibe. With the MMC being able to control things with his mind and the FMC being able to see visions. The story has a lot of promise.

Unfortunately though there was a lack of plot and detail.

The author seems to want to appeal to all readers with lots of tropes being used withing the first 60pages of the book: Insta love, enemy to love, touch them you die etc. and the standard awful parents thrown into it was the cherry on top.

The writing style was quick paced and at times really good but it jumps scenes so fast it's hard to really enjoy the story completely without feeling like scenes are just ripped away.

There's not excessive spice, a couple of tastefully written scenes that show the hunger between the two MCs and their list for one another.
I enjoyed how the FMC doesn't shy away weak of will and courage, she was more than capable of taking charge when it called for her to step up and it was refreshing to see the female care for the male bad ass for once rather than being a damsel.

After Ollie deals with his grandma who was offered a nice payout for her role... It became obvious almost instantly who the labs next option was for their deeds. Which is fine. But I found because the story was so rushed and lacked depth I didn't really care about the outcome or the characters.

As a self published writer the author did great with her editing for grammar etc. and at times some of the writing really was good but as a whole this could do with more padding out for depth and a bit more time spent in interesting scenes that also dont randomly get pulled into unnecessary past visions (which also pulled me out of the story at times)

There is a second to this, and hopefully the author will pad it out more and take her time with it as this one felt incredibly rushed but potential is definitely there.

Read If You Enjoy:
Dark College Romance
Dual POV
Fated Mates
Found Family

This book was an emotional roller coaster. A very dark college sci-fi romance with serious stranger things vibes. My favourite part is easily the MMC, Ollie. Who doesn’t love an absolutely unhinged morally gray MMC?

This story centers on Courtney, a college freshman with demons from a traumatic childhood. A mother who didn’t want her from the moment she was born and has had visions of her future all her life. When she arrives at college she meets Ollie, the man from her visions. He too, has been fighting demons all his life and has supernatural powers of his own. Ollie, convinced that there are people after him set on taking him down, believes Courtney is an informant when his abilities do not work on her.

This story is fast-paced full of suspense and spice. Looking at you ballet studio. The tension between Courtney and Ollie is amazing. Her character development in the time she spends with Ollie is so satisfying. Their relationships with their found family of friends add lighthearted moments to this book that really make you fall in love with the characters.

Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast-paced sci-fi romance with morally grey characters who would burn the world for each other.

I finished this book in a night and absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series. November can’t come fast enough.

Please check the trigger warning for this book. It contains some heavy topics.

Holy hell this book! If you're a lover of Stranger Things and romance books, this is a MUST READ. Courtney is a strong AF female lead, she's had a rough past, and its molded her into the badass she is. She's been having these visions her whole life, unsure of what they mean. One constant in these visions was a blonde haired boy with silver eyes. When she walks onto campus for the first time, and comes face to face with Ollie, she knows for a fact that he's the man from her visions, and Courtney just so happens to be the only person who's mind Ollie is unable to infiltrate. This book is dual POV, the pacing was excellent, I was so drawn into the story and where it was going to go, we learn about these characters pasts and why they are the way they are, and that there are others like them. Courtney is a 'take no shit' FMC which I absolutely adored, she was so strong in her convictions, she has no qualms saying how she feels or what she needs. She had the MMC on his kneeeeees for her. In many romance books the MMC always takes over in the bedroom, there were many instances where Courtney had Ollie begging her, and OH MY GODDD was it ever hot. I loved that dynamic. Their connection was incredible. It was a little instalovey, which isn't always my fave, but with their connection, I understand why it had to be that way, and didn't take away from the story for me.
THE ENDING. Girl. If book 2 wasn't about to come out, id probably be a lot more of a mess than I am right now LOL. I cannot wait to continue on with this series! Incredible debut, highly recommend!

OMG this book! This reminded me so much of the Mara Dyer books by Michelle Hodkin that I absolutely adored, so I was instantly in my happy place reading A Perfect World. Two tortured souls finding each other, INSANE chemistry, and burning the world down to be with each other?! I loved everything about this and I cannot wait to read the second book.

I have to start with Ollie, because he was my absolute favorite. I love his don't give a shit attitude, but he would do absolutely anything to protect the people he loves. Even when he didn't know Courtney that well yet, the way that he put Vince in his place? I was hollering! His past is so heartbreaking and my heart was clenching when he was fighting his demons, trying to resist relapsing. There's so much ahead yet for him, but I just want him to get some peace. And his relationship with Courtney is beautiful. They've both been through so much in their past that makes their connection that much more stronger. I loved seeing the growth in Courtney, from being more meek in that awful relationship with Vince, to a strong fighter that would claw her way through anything.

I thought Vince was eliminated early in the book, but when he kept showing up, my eyes rolled back in my head. I'm begging, please, finish him. LOL! The whole book came full circle with that ending and I am so ready to see some things burned to the ground in A Perfect Life. And to learn more about that journal....

“𝓘 𝔀𝓸𝓾𝓵𝓭𝓷’𝓽 𝓶𝓲𝓷𝓭 𝓬𝓸𝓻𝓻𝓾𝓹𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝔂𝓸𝓾.”

Courtney has always suffered from vivid visions, though no one believed her. Then when her dorm elevator opens she sees a familiar face. One she has seen over and over again in her visions.

Ollie's demons don't whisper, they scream. Between paranoia and traumatic flashbacks, he tries to numb it all with every substance possible. Until Courtney. Paranoia rockets once he looks into her eyes and is unable to access anything. He starts to believe she is an informant there to take him down. Will she fall from his wrath, or will Ollie fall from her love?

𝓘’𝓭 𝓵𝓮𝓽 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝔀𝓱𝓸𝓵𝓮 𝔀𝓸𝓻𝓵𝓭 𝓫𝓾𝓻𝓷 𝓲𝓯 𝓲𝓽 𝓶𝓮𝓪𝓷𝓽 𝓼𝓪𝓿𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝔂𝓸𝓾.”

Absolutely LOVED every bit of this!! NEVER have I hated a particular character so quickly in a book before, and there are TWO in this one. 😂(Not FMC or MMC) I truly loved the relationships formed and it gets WILD. Ollie will absolutely melt your heart! It is a VERY UNIQUE story as well!

A Perfect World by Julia McColgan is book one in a Perfect World Series. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it will not be the last! I was invested from the first chapter, I couldn’t put the book down. I read it cover to cover in one sitting. This is a dark romantic fantasy book. So as always check your trigger warnings to be safe. I will warn you the book does end with a cliffhanger.

I absolutely freaking loved this book! The writing was phenomenal. The descriptions in the book made it very easy to imagine yourself to be part of this world. The characters were my favorite part of this whole experience. Courtney hands down was a great one, she’s strong, independent and a survivor from the mental games her own mother did to her. Then having the ability to see visions? Her life was never easy. Ollie is a tattooed man who has a power of his own… he can read and manipulate minds. But much to his shock and surprise he can't with Courtney. He’s determined to find out why. Each has their own dark past and it really took my emotions on a rollercoaster. Waiting for book two is going to drive me bonkers. You need to read this book!

This book is hands down one of the best books I have read this year. I was hooked from the first page, I could not put this book down. Be warned it does end in a cliff hanger, thankfully this is only book one in the series. I can not wait to see where this author goes with this series!

This is a dark romance with bits of fantasy intertwined in, make sure to check any triggers before deciding to read.

Be ready to laugh, cry, scream, and want to throw this book across the room. The journey Julia takes you on during this story is absolutely amazing. Courtney is so relatable, from her trauma and isolation as a child and young adult to being in a toxic relationship and feeling like she must stay. She grows so much in this book and overcomes so much, and a lot of that is thanks to Ollie. Ollie also has a traumatic past that haunts him more than anyone knows. Just to get where he is at the beginning of the book hes had to overcome so much, and continues to over come so much in this book. He wants to protect everyone in his little group at all costs. He's the monster everyone will love

Courtney has suffered from realistic visions although her mother refuses to acknowledge that what she experiences is real. She goes off to college and bumps into the one man that has been a recurring vision throughout her life, who she learns is named Ollie. Ollie has powers that have alienated him in his home growing up and have led him to numbing his feelings and his pain with drugs. Once he meets Courtney, his life finally seems to have purpose as he seems to feel connected to her, but she’s the only person that blocks his telepathy. They both never knew that there were other people with these powers, and they are determined to figure out what made them this way and take them down.

Honestly, this book was meh. There was a lot of spice (if I were to rate it, probably like a 8/10 spice level), but it didn’t really seem to fit into the plot. If you’re into smut and fantasy, this could be a book for you, but the storyline didn’t really seem to make the most sense or even really matter.

The obsession I have over this book and author is a newfound love. I rarely have a book leaving me speechless, and this is one of those. This author is a true poet in her words with this story, and I can not wait to see what else transpires into the next! I loved it!

This book has it all! College✅ dark romance✅ possible fated mates!?!? Or just soul mates?✅
Courtney grew up thinking she would never be good enough to live up to her mother’s standards. Her mother never let her forget how much of an accident and mistake her conception and life is. All her life she has been plagued by visions and they usually involve one silver eyed Adonis.

Ollie has always know he was different than his peers. He can move things without touching them and dive into peoples heads and destroy them from the inside. He meets Courtney and it’s like they were meant to be from day one! It turns out their dorm has more than a few people who posses bizarre powers. It doesn’t take long for them to all realize they are the results of an experiment to build the perfect weapon using ivf and manipulation of their cells before implantation.
The institute wants Ollie back but at what cost to the others.

OMG THIS BOOK

I stumbled upon this book from a booktok rec and I am so glad I read it! I'm going to forever recommend this. It had everything I love! Amazing character development, writing that flowed, made me feel and without flaws. I seriously found NOTHING wrong with this book. It got me out of a slump from a series I read. It has paranormal, like stranger things Eleven and freak scientists. They are in college. I do recommend checking the triggers because this book goes deep with some things. The verbal abuse from the mom hit hard.

The whole story was so enticing, though. I couldn't put it down! You have some mystery of who created them. You have alpha fmc energy that forms towards the end, which was FIRE.

I blushed, I laughed, I cried, and I screamed. Especially at the end. Like WHAT THE HECK!! Now I need to read book 2 asap. Ugh. So good. Ollie and Court forever 😭

I have mixed feelings about this book, honestly I really wanted to DNF this book multiple times as the storyline wasn’t leading to really anything but I hate not finishing books so I HAD to finish it for myself. Some of it was extremely confusing I don’t know if that was just me or if it really wasn’t making sense. I personally didn’t like this that much especially because of the fact that there are for sure better books I’ve read but it’s also not the worst book I’ve read so its not good but it’s not horrible if that makes sense, it took me a while to finish this as it wasn’t keeping me hooked as other books have. I was hoping for some kind of capture and Ollie go crazy for his girl but nope, didn’t happen until the very end and then it was left on a cliffhanger, there wasn’t as much excitement as I was hoping for, and I was legit going crazy with how much I wanted to finish this book to move on.
