Dr. Norman Vincent Peale (1898–1993) was a minister and author (most notably of The Power of Positive Thinking) and a progenitor of the theory of "positive thinking".

Peale was born in Bowersville, Ohio. He graduated from Bellefontaine High School, Bellefontaine, Ohio. He has earned degrees at Ohio Wesleyan University (where he became a brother of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta) and Boston University School of Theology.

Raised as a Methodist and ordained as a Methodist minister in 1922, Peale changed his religious affiliation to the Reformed Church in America in 1932 and began a 52-year tenure as pastor of Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan. During that time the church's membership grew from 600 to over 5000, and he became one of New York City's most famous preachers.

It was a good book, but I think I might read it again in the future because I believe that I did not really like it although I read a good reviews on it. So I might give it another chance in the far future

Key points from the book.

2. See the good.
3. Expect the best.
4. Learn that "I can make a difference."
5. Believe.

"I urge you to be a believer, an all-the-way believer, in God, in life and in yourself."

Scripture that reminds me that we can make a difference - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Phil 4:13)

The reason why there are so many books about positive thinking? Don't you know? Its because positive thinking really works. Yes, with the world the way it is today, life can be difficult, it can be challenging and we all have to get through those hurdles that come our way. But I promise you, if you can learn to think positively, you can increase your life tenfold. I am one of the most contented people I know and I still have a difficult time being positive. I don't seem to have a problem letting others know when they are being negative though, lol. Anyway if you want to start thinking and acting positive in your life, this book by Norman Vincent Peale (and of course ANY of his other books, positive thinking related or not) will really help you to achieve this. Don't let a tough life hold you back. Realize that life is meant to be lived to the fullest and we are meant to enjoy every moment. Through the challenges and all! Don't miss out on this great read!

I admire the effort, but I wish the book focused more on self-empowerment, rather than empowerment through religion.

"If you really want to know what you are likely to be five or ten years from now, all you need to do is read the thoughts that are now dominant in your mind. In time the continuity of your dominant thought pattern will activate the forces about you to produce the outward conditions that correspond to your basic thinking. Your thoughts form your future. Thoughts externalize into actualization. You cannot see a thought, but you can trace its effect. And all your thoughts add up to a result. In due course you become precisely what you habitually think." (Norman Vincent Peale, Why Some Positive Thinkers Get Powerful Results, Page 152)

This book compliments Norman Vincent Peale's classic The Power of Positive Thinking. It is filled with true life stories of encounters that the author has had with those who have struggled with negative thinking. You also get to know that the author himself has struggled with negative thinking and how he and others have overcome the same. As those who know the author's works, you will know that for everything he teaches on positive thinking, he usually relates a story to emphasize the points he is making. These are not fictitious stories, but are real life stories that the author has encountered himself.

Another book to help you to get out of the gutter of negative thinking and into the sunshine of positive thinking!
