Teter Nave. East Tennessee Pioneer by Robert T. Nave and Margaret W. Hougland Teter Nave. East Tennessee Pioneer, is a New and Expanded Heirloom edition of the Nave Family Genealogy printed in 2001. The book begins with the Swiss historical background of the NÄF family and their immigration to the American Colonies. The ancestors of Teter Nave begins with Hans Näf (1598- 1667) in Canton Zürich and five generations of his descendent to Teter Nave’s father, Dr. Conrad Nave [Näf] (who immigrated in 1734 from Wallisellen, Canton, Zürich. The descendants of Teter Nave have been greatly expanded including new research since 2001. Included are nine generations of family members. Each of Teter Nave’s children begins a new chapter and includes generations two through nine each of his male children and daughters and their families are extend to the third generation. Nave surnames who served our country are listed in a Nave War Veterans chapter. This heirloom edition is Hard Cover, Smyth sewn and contains 400 Pages. It is printed on 8½ x 11 inch archival paper. This edition presents many family photographs, includes maps, and the Teter Nave land grants in Carter County. An extensive bibliography is provided giving documentation as well as sources for further research. A three column index comprises the final 52 pages of this book. Robert T. Nave is a life long resident of Carter County and began his interest in the genealogy of his Nave family in 1946. The book presents more that 60 years of personal research as well as substantial contributions by others. Margaret W. Houghland is both a well know Carter County historian and a professional graphics illustrator.
