Extremely thorough discussion and listing of all types of Anabaptist denominations/churches in the U.S. This was especially interesting to me because I grew up in a version of this - which happens to be included in the book, right down to specific church names, several of which I recognized. I also recognized several names of local churches where I live, from several streams of Anabaptist denominations.

This was a little more scholarly than I expected, but these men have done their research and know every possible detail about the development of these churches. It is probably more of a resource than a book to sit down and read. But I enjoyed assimilating all the information.

As this book contains quite a bit of information that reflects the point in time when it was compiled, some of the material is now out of date. For example, there are lists of congregations, but some of these have changed. The strength of this book is that it gives several important categories and groupings for understanding the differences that exist within different families of Anabaptists. There are also helpful historical overviews of the four main groups discussed and information about their common practices and ideas. This book is helpful for those who want some basic information about how Anabaptists in the United States at the turn of the 21st century.
