Button Blossom #5

Hogging the Hunk

Rate this book
My heart’s a mess, but a charming veterinarian might have all the right remedies.

The last place I thought I’d be after becoming a pediatrician is back in my hometown of Button Blossom. I was supposed to be traveling the world, running medical clinics for underprivileged children, with a man who should have proposed by now.

Instead, he dumped me.

Wait. What?

With my life on hold, I’ve sought refuge running a mobile pediatric clinic for the community. The work is satisfying, and I have a great view of the hunky veterinarian across the street. Milo Fox is arguably the hottest bachelor in a 50-mile radius.

With my heart in tatters over Greg, I’m not looking to start anything new, especially with Milo. There are too many roadblocks, from our age gap to his pre-teen daughter, who isn’t convinced I’m not out to become her evil stepmother. The spark she insists she’s seen between us isn’t helping my case.

Every time I bump into Milo, he inadvertently reminds me how incredible he is. Whether he’s carrying me down a rocky trail after an injury or helping me milk the world’s most annoying goat (long story…), Milo is hard to keep at arm's length.
His legendary biceps have earned their reputation…

When Greg returns, offering the perfect life I’d planned for, I hesitate. Milo has snagged a piece of my heart, and I'm not sure I can let go. Maybe I want to hog Milo to myself. Maybe forever.

Beckett and Milo share some red-hot kisses (gasp!), but there's no hanky panky in this romcom. This romantic comedy is sweet, and the chemistry is explosive, but reader blushing is kept to a minimum between this single dad and the woman who inadvertently fills the hole in his heart.

Hogging the Hunk by Rachael Eliker is another in the Button Blossom series and Milo Fox is the veterinarian there in Button Blossom. The initial chapter with Milo in the grocery store trying to buy feminine products for his soon-to-be-moving-in daughter was one of the funniest I’ve read. Eliker had it spot on. He and Ellie’s mother had not ever really gotten along. He had tried to to the right thing and had stayed in their lives. Then she had died and Ellie went to live with her grandparents, but now it was time for him to do his share. Him and a teenage daughter? He was not sure. In the opening scene, Beckett Kent helped him with his dilemma and offered to help with Ellie, without really knowing what she was offering. She had a boyfriend, or kind of had a boyfriend. They were on a break and he flitted in and out of her life. He was a doctor, too, and spent much time overseas doing charity work. She had been on his radar for a while, but her boyfriend and his lack of self-confidence held him back. Then, Ellie made him promise that there would be no wicked stepmother. He didn’t think Beckett would be wicked, but that was enough to make him back off.

This was truly a romantic comedy. I am not a laugher, but I laughed several times, and smiled a lot. It was a romance of missteps and poor communication. Most of the town was rooting for them, except for the other woman who wanted Dr. Foxy, as they called him, for themselves. His receptionist and her grandmother were in on it. It was funny, full of well-written characters with plenty of personality. The plot was not tremendously complicated, but satisfying. I was happy at the end of it. That means a lot.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Hogging the Hunk by the author. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #RachaelEliker #HoggingTheHunk

Beckett and Milo, aka Dr. Fox(y), are so stinking sweet together. This is such a fun and swoony single-dad romance with a touch of a love triangle—but the kind where it’s obvious who you’re rooting for. 😉

Things I Loved:
-Ellie 💜
-“That lady looks ticked and I like to keep my drama on Netflix.”
-Defending her honor
-Truffle
-Almost kisses
-Granny’s fishing pole 😂
-Baking cookies
-Just Granny (and the pjs 😆)
-Pulled over for speeding 👌🏻
-Tacos and tornadoes (also, all midwesterners know this analogy 🙌🏻)
-“‘Well, I hope you’re happy you’ve wrecked all my plans.’ He tenderly kissed my neck. ‘I’m happy if you’re happy.’ ‘I am.’”
-The WHOLE ending, for everyone. 💜

This was a slow burn in the best of ways, I super appreciated the way Milo put his daughter first and the road it took to these three becoming a family. It wasn’t anything crazy, just realistic. They each had some growing to do and there were laughs, great chemistry, and sweet, sweet moments all along the way. Plus, plenty of the past Button Blossom characters made appearances and the epilogue wrapped up everyone’s stories in a simply delightful way. You can read this as a standalone, but it was so fun knowing the history between everyone!

Trigger warning: The child in this story is coping with the semi-recent loss of a parent.

I really enjoyed this sweet ending to the series. This is a lovely age-gap, single dad romance. With plenty of small town charm and animal antics. Milo, wanting to atone for mistakes in his past, is trying to be a good person in his community and a good dad to his daughter. Having feelings for Beckett, a younger woman (and paediatrician) isn’t in his plans. “Content and happy aren’t necessarily the same thing.” Any kind of romantic entanglement is especially opposed by his daughter. Beckett has her own challenges with an existing on-and-off dysfunctional relationship. As Milo and Beckett’s relationship creeps forward, their hurdles seem determined to keep them apart. “I had found her, then foolishly, I hadn’t held on tight enough. She slipped right through my fingers.” There are lots of funny, sweet, and swoony moments. The events surrounding the resolution were very memorable. I love the taco bar explanation. Very clever. It’s just a real cute story. This is the final book in the series, and while it can work as a standalone, I would recommend reading the whole series in order. There is a lot of carryover so it would give the best reader experience. This is a closed door story with very mild innuendo and no harsh language.

Realising The Difference In Real Love -
When Beckett returned home after her relationship disaster, she never expected it to be the start of a whirlwind journey. Milo was happy for him daughter to move in with him, but she made a request that put him in an awkward situation. Beckett and Milo found themselves spending time together, which led to the residents of the small town rooting for them. Unfortunately, just as Milo and Beckett were about to embark on a romance, their happiness was derailed by his daughter, which caused Beckett to walk away.

However, they both realised after spending time apart, that they wanted to be together, but Beckett’s ex-boyfriend returned to try to get her back, which solidified her feelings for Milo. Luckily, Milo’s daughter changed her mind, as she wanted her father to be happy and even made plans that helped them get their happily ever after. This is a sweet small town romance, with warmth, humour, chaos and lots of emotional moments, that led to a happily ever after.

I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Button Blossom is one of my favorite fictional towns. I love the zany characters. And the situations they get themselves into.

This one had one of my favorite meet cutes ever! I loved the way Milo and Beckett meet on the feminine products aisle. And then again by the pregnancy tests. I'm laughing all over again remembering it. You've got to read it for yourself!

I really liked that Milo was a humble guy. He knew he'd made mistakes and he owned up to them. And he tried to do better. That's the sign of a really great guy! I loved how he cares for his daughter, Ellie all by himself.

Beckett made me laugh by always getting caught by Milo in her pajamas. And they were not just any pajamas. That was hilarious! I really liked that Beckett went out of her way to do what Ellie asked, which was stay away from her dad. And I didn't like her on again off again boyfriend, Greg. I kept hoping she'd get smart and get rid of him!

This book was so great! I didn't want to stop reading it for anything!

I was sent an e-copy of Hogging the Hunk as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.

A solid read for those who enjoy a sweet small town, low angst, clean romance with some humor. This can be read as a stand. Maybe more enjoyable in order as past couples make minor apperances. Everyone adds great to the story. Granny is top tier as always. The main characters were genuienly likeable and relatable people.
Fav line and scene of Dr. Fox is when he come across Beckett after a breakup and gives her a ride. "Get in the truck, Beckett. I'm here to help."
Some of the anaolgies were pretty hilarious too: "My attempts to throw off Bonita off my scent were as fruitless as a fox walking on two legs so a bloodhound would mistake him as a man."
I loved the tacos and tornadoes talk!
This series and book is good for the hopless romantic, low angst, all the feels, small town goodness.
I thought the h & H's interactions were sweet, funny and endearing. I enjoyed how their interactions were a lot of the regular life moments when our veneer and polish are set aside.

A sweet and oh so satisfying ending to this series.
It’s hard to say goodbye to the characters of this now beloved small town but I’m so glad we ended with Beckett and Milo’s story. I’ve been waiting for Dr. Foxy to get his HEA since book 1 and Beckett fully lived up to the woman he deserved.

Good banter and plenty of touching moments along the way. I adored getting to know Milos daughter Ellie and loved that she was realistically portrayed. I especially loved her conversations with Asher who is one of my favourite book kids of all time.

Knowing it was the last book I’m also super thrilled we got to see each of the previous couples have their moments in this book; and the series epilogue was a fantastic and satisfying ending.

I’ll miss these characters and this town but I’m grateful for the time I got to spend there!

Thank you so much to the author for an ARC of this novel. All feelings and opinions are my own.

What a great story this was and the perfect ending to a crazy fun series! I love the town of Button Blossom and all its delightful characters. Milo and Beckett have such a sweet but cluttered journey to love: from the hilarious meet-cute to matchmaking of friends, from the scheming of his daughter to the realization that they need each other, nothing went smoothly at all. But that only served to reveal how good they are together. Though there was a bit of “Insta love”, there was also a fabulous bit of slow burn happening as well. All culminating in an ending I was happy dancing about. I won’t give spoilers because this one is too good to ruin. Definitely get this story (and the whole series) on your TBR because these are RomCom must reads.

Veterinarian & pediatrician

I had so much fun reading about Beckett and Milo, better known to the local women as Dr. Foxy. As a bonus, there were plenty of cameo appearances by characters from earlier books. That is one of my favorite things about reading small town romance series. Characters have a way of popping into each others' stories.

You will 'snork' with amusement at Beckett's ex's grand gesture that perfectly illustrates exactly why he is an ex. Button Blossom is the perfect setting for all the feels to envelop you in this book. I am sad that my visits there have come to an end.

Hogging the Hunk is a fantastic finale to wrap up Rachael Eliker's Button Blossom series. Full of animal hijinks and intervening townsfolk, siblings and daughters, this book is a recipe full of the best ingredients for a laugh a page. I loved the chemistry from the very beginning between Milo and Beckett, and was laughing out loud from the very first chapter. A stand-alone book, Hogging the Hunk can be read without reading the other books in the series but you'll find fun cameos from previous books in the series throughout as well as a series epilogue at the end. Add this one to your TBR pile today!
I received an ARC (thank you!); these are my honest thoughts and opinions.

This book was hilarious in parts, romantically sweet, and a satisfying quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Beckett deserved to get her story and what a story it is. On a break from her boyfriend she finds herself strangely attracted to the older and very eligible Dr. Fox. He in turn is attracted to her but with a new custody arrangement for his daughter he may not have the time for romance.
Throw in nosy family members and friends, a pig named Truffles, a daughter who may not want to share her dad with a new love interest, and you have the makings of one of the best romcoms I’ve read lately.
Great book!

I loved this hilarious romance between Beckett and Milo who has a pre-teen daughter, Ellie, who tries to keep them apart. The characters are wonderful. Beckett is a pediatrician and Milo is the veterinarian for Button Blossom. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy clean romance that keeps you laughing. I especially liked the ending where Truffles, the runt piglet, tries to eat the engagement ring that Preacher drops. A lot of surprise announcements are made by characters from the earlier books in this series. I received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Delightfully written, with natural, believable, easy dialogue.
Loved the different story line with Milo being a single dad of an older daughter, who realistically struggled with the idea of him dating anyone.
Funny, especially the part when Milo is trying to buy feminine products for his daughter. Also the part where Greg unveils the surprise of having his face on a billboard to keep Beckett company!
Loved the little town of Button Blossom and loved the satisfying endings to all the stories that weave into this one!

This was a super sweet conclusion to this series! Beckett and Milo overcome quite a few obstacles to finally get their happy ending, but the way it all comes together was perfect. Milo has been in all of the previous books so it was fun to finally see him get his happily ever after! Definitely start from the beginning of the series to get to know all the side characters, you won’t be disappointed!

This is a dual pov, clean romance. It is in a series but I feel like it can easily be read as a stand alone (you will just have updates from previous books characters).

Beckett, the mobile pediatrician, is back in button blossom after her and her ex decided to take a break. Milo Fox, the towns veterinarian, now has custody of his daughter after her mother has passed. These two begin to rely on each others friendship to get through the big changes in their life.

Hogging the Hunk

This is such a cute and funny story. Beckett returns to Button Blossom to work as a traveling pediatrician in her hometown when her boyfriend, Gregg asks for a break in their relationship. Milo has just taken custody of his teenage daughter and appreciates the help and support Beckett gives and they become closer. What happens when the ex-boyfriend continues to show up?

Great Series Ending

Beckett has come back to Button Blossum to think and get away from thoughts of her not-quite-ex boyfriend Greg. Milo, Dr Fox, is there and now has his teenage daughter Ellie living with him full-time. It's a roller coaster ride for both of them as the attraction grows, but serious roadblocks keep getting in the way. Granny and the whole troop of friends are around for advice or teasing. The series epilog is perfect. Now to find more books by this author.

Hogging the Hunk is a super fun, clean, second chance, romantic comedy! Beckett and Milo are seriously great characters. I love Milo's daughter Ellie. This is Button Blossom at it's finest. The billboard was a hoot. You will have to read this well written book to see what I am talking about. I could not put this down once I started reading.

I really enjoyed Hogging the Hunk. I don't usually like to read "love triangle" tropes, but this one did not cause me too much angst, so it was still a good read. Milo was such a great hunk for Beckett. It had a lot of laugh-out-loud moments, as well as the swoon-worthy ones, and all the great in-between times that meld a story together. Definitely worth reading.

This is a fun, clean, love triangle with the addition of a preteen daughter. We’re given humor, romance, a “villain” who isn’t bad, just self-absorbed, pre-teen fears and worries, and an overall good story line. There are times you can’t decide whether to hug or shake Ellie, Greg, you want to kick in the rear and at times you want to yell or shake Beckett. I really enjoyed this story.

The title is so appropriate and the book so fun. Milo is a vet with a daughter who ends up with the cutest little pig nicknamed Truffles. I love the combination of humor and romance. Granny is the best especially with her antics like dangling mistletoe at the Christmas dance. Best to read thos story in series order to get the most fun from the story.

The story of Milo and Beckett was soooo good! It’s hard to believe people who are so smart can also be insecure.

Loved all their friends, Grandma and even the crazy animals.

This is a great book. I loved Milo and his blunt honesty and boldness along with his sweet side. Beckett is a delightful character full of fun and sass. I loved the funny situations Beckett and Milo got themselves into...mostly due to Beckett. A great way to end the series.

Sweet-ending to the series

I think this may have been my favorite of the series, but maybe Trixie’s story. Nice chemistry. Her other love interest was a tool lol. A quick read and I’ll miss the town setting.

The book consistently moved right along….pranks, light heartedness, love, friends and family. Loved this fast read, with many memorable moments. I can hardly put one of Rachael’s books down until I finish it. Great reading!
