What a great resource for learning watercolor technique! From the basics of using watercolors, to watercolor theory, to applying watercolor for a variety of techniques, this book covers it all with plenty of illustrations and examples.
Be advised! I read the ebook version of this book from my library in Kindle format. I do NOT recommend this version. Get your hands on a printed copy — as I will soon do — and keep it as a reference for your watercolor journey.
Great to learn how to paint with watercolor paints. Concise and very useful. A beginner should read this book first, since it’s such a great reference book.
This has some really great information (specifically on brush, wash, and glaze techniques), but I couldn’t manage to comfortably read the handwritten-style font. Incredibly distracting for me.
A good book with helpful instructions and examples, both of good and bad (failed) attempts for comparison. I liked the textural techniques, including printing impressions with plants. Good coverage on the basics, as well. Could have had more variety, perhaps, but I guess that's what her other books are for. ;) Thankfully, no immodest paintings, which bumps my rating up one star!
I ordered this from a vintage bookseller through Amazon. Not many left in print. I highly recommend buying it for future referencing. Her section on color theory has been very helpful and examples of when things go wrong. I've also started using M. Graham paint and LOVE its creamy texture.
I wish that I owned this book, but unfortunately it seems to be out of print. My teacher has this book and I have found it valuable when painting with watercolours.
