This is an outstanding book on work redesign. I read for my research as I'm looking at motivation. At the time of the writing, 1980, there were few empirical studies to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of the theory, however, the theory has a sound in rationale. When there are any challenges to job motivation, a review of this theory ought to be considered in redesign.

Really informative look at the design of work for individual and organizational change. The various aspects of fit between the job, task and the individual were interesting, as was the structure of teams.
