oh yes yes yes, a big yes for that book!!! First time for me to read a book by Helga Jense, and oh boy, how I loved it!!!! I wasn't expecting to enjoy that book so much!!! Here we are following a woman who just got dumped by her boyfriend and who decided to change her life and so change her job. She becomes flight attend. So much fun to read this book! So much fun to read about the training to become cabin crew! So much fun to read about what is going to happen during the first flights! And oh of course the best part of this book! The romance! I can only recommend this book to you if you love flying, if you love travelling and if you want a fun book to read!!!! 4 stars out of 5 for me!

I really enjoyed Helga Jensen’s second novel – A Scandinavian Summer – and was very excited to read her latest novel, this time taking the readers to France for an adventure. The main character here is Penny, who has just turned fifty. How I love books with women in around my age, that’s always a big plus point for me. It means I can relate to them much more than a twenty-something.
The cover of Fly Me To Paris is really beautiful and I was also pleased to find it was a novel of 283 pages. I mean, I love long books too, but there’s definitely a place for books this size as sometimes a big pile of books with over 400 pages each can be a bit daunting. I knew I could probably read this book over a couple of days. The chapters are an ideal length too.
Penny is working in a posh kids’ clothing boutique in Cardiff and has a boyfriend called Geraint, who is fifty-one. While seemingly reasonably happy on the outside, she does wish she’d had a child and a pet – neither of which Geraint wants. But Penny does voluntary work at a dog shelter, which helps a bit.
Then Geraint drops a bombshell and Penny’s life is turned upside down! But can she turn it around and make it into a new start for herself? Can she finally fulfil a dream to travel the world?
I loved Penny straight away, she’s got a vulnerability about her, she’s not perfect and she knows it. She hasn’t had the life she really hoped for, but she’s made the best of it and has tried to find happiness.
The book is an easy read – which is a compliment. I got into the story immediately and wanted to keep reading to see what was going to happen to lovely Penny and I was there by her side all the way, wishing for her to get the happy ending she deserves.
It was very well-paced throughout, nothing felt rushed or too slow. The novel felt very well-researched, but this is explained at the end in Helga’s letter, where she talks about being cabin crew herself in the past. The authenticity really shone through. I enjoyed finding out how they are trained, not something I really knew much about, being scared of flying. I loved the camaraderie between the trainees too. There’s a good amount of humour in the book too, it made me smile a lot.
I also really liked how the romance was sprinkled through the book. It was just the right balance and felt like it was natural, not forced. There were plenty of twists, they certainly never had an easy journey and there was a lot of “Will they, won’t they?” to bump up the tension.
Overall, I absolutely loved this book. I adore Helga’s writing, it’s so approachable and real, you feel you know the characters and the whole things just pops out of the page and into your heart. I’m already looking forward to her next book!

Cautious introvert Penny leads a quiet life in Wales. She has a secure but unchallenging sales job and a long-term boyfriend who doesn’t want to commit. Having turned fifty, she reflects on what her younger self would have imagined from life: mostly travel and adventure. When her boyfriend unceremoniously dumps her, she wonders if it’s too late to embark on that life she’s always dreamed of.

A chance encounter with an airline stewardess gets her to apply for a cabin crew position. To her surprise, she’s selected and begins her training. Through the process, she learns to challenge herself and kickstarts her life, one filled with work she loves, new friends and plenty of travel across Europe… and even a possible new love interest on the horizon.

This is a light, fun romance about changing your life and embarking on new adventures … no matter your age.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy - all thoughts are my own.

Penny is 50 and unhappy with her life, she meets Carys who is cabin crew and she encourages Penny to apply for a job. Matt is a pilot with Calm Air and initially the two clash but both share a love of dogs and camper vans, are they destined to be or are they in for a bumpy flight. Funny and flirty, you are never too old to explore new adventures and find love.

This is a fun-filled, entertaining story that left me smiling. Penny is good with people and enjoys her job well enough. Her relationship with her boyfriend is doomed after he makes it clear that there is no future for them. After a chance meeting with a member of cabin crew, she makes an uncharacteristic leap and applies for a vacancy with Calm Air. Never expecting to hear back, she’s shocked to be invited to an interview.
At this point, life picks up speed and she soon finds herself in training. What follows are the, at times hilarious, but constantly amusing adventures that she is faced with. As she passes through the training course, she encounters a less than friendly pilot, Matt Garcia. Her initial meeting with him proves to be most unpleasant and she is left in no hurry to ever see him again. Of course, that means that she will be unable to avoid him.
As the synopsis explains, it is while stuck on an unscheduled stopover in Paris, that she starts to feel an attraction to him and then the story gets complicated.
Penny and Matt are clearly meant to be together, but there’s baggage that they both need to process in order for there to be a future for them. The characters and the settings of the story are all nicely delivered, but the focus remains on the main couple. The sadness of Matt’s past is an obstacle that needs to be overcome, but with help from Penny, a happy ending is in sight.
This was a fun escape and I’m already looking forward to the next uplifting read.

I only started reading books a few years ago. Although most of the books I have read have been good, there are only a few that I have really looked forward to reading and this was one of those. I absolutely loved it and as soon as I read the blurb on the back, I knew I was going to enjoy it. There is plenty of humour in it too, which was just fantastic!

It was a pleasure to read a book about a 50 year old woman who started a new chapter in her life. Stories shouldn’t always be about young people finding love, what about those who find love later on in life? I adored the character of Penny and felt like I had a lot of similarities to her. It’s funny how you read something and think ‘I know exactly how she felt’. I found the book to be very inspirational. Penny could’ve given up on life after being dumped, but instead, she found a new lease of life. Penny was alone in this world and after being dumped, the only person she could open up to was her manager. We should all remember that not everyone has a family. By just having one person who you can speak to can make all the difference.

This is the first Helga Jensen book I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed every page of it. Everything that was included in this story - from Penny working at Little Darlings to Geraint to Dolly, to applying and training to become cabin crew to touring around Paris to Matt, was just the best! I am looking forward to reading more of Helga’s books.

Sweet, cute!

To be honest, the first part of this book was a little slow for me, but once past that, I finished it in no time! Penny is felt by many to be past her prime at 50, but she is just off a 10 year relationship that she thought would last but didn't. Working at a job she mostly enjoys but often doesn't, when a chance meeting with Carys turns into a discussion on becoming a flight attendant, she figures why not go for it?

When Penny arrives for training, one of the awkward events of the day is a meeting with Matt, clearly an obnoxious captain, as he is nothing but rude to Penny. As time goes on, he keeps popping up in her orbit, and it frustrates Penny every time....until it doesn't. Penny, against all odds, starts to feel an attraction for Matt. Is he really as rude and obnoxious as he seems? I don't write spoilers so I won't tell you what happens, but I will say I did enjoy it very much. It was very nice to read a story about people who aren't twenty-somethings with their high school sweetheart!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

I love all things Paris (it is my dream travel destination) so of course I picked this book - and the cover was divine. Based in England, Penny, who is 50, just got dumped by her long time boyfriend. She meets glamorous Carys, a flight crew member, who suggests she apply for a position, as the airline is looking to hire ‘mature’ crew. Stuck in a retail job, she takes the leap. It follows her journey of applying, completing safety and crew training and having her first flight. She then meets handsome (but very rude) Captain Matt…and sparks fly.

This book was wonderful. I learned about all that goes into flight crew training. I also enjoyed that Penny was midlife and all that comes along with it. The only thing I didn’t care for was the immaturity of Matt and his handling of their relationship. It was embarrassing for a man his age - and I wouldn’t have given him so many chances. However this book is a good romcom that made me laugh and yearn for a life of traveling Europe.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

💭Thoughts :
- Reading this book made me feel good and uplifted.
- It’s an enemies to lovers trope, it’s my favorite trope. (It also includes slow burn romance)
- It’s also my favorite genre which is chick lit romance
- I enjoyed the vivid depictions of Paris and introducing me to new culinary experience like the “Galette” dish.
- made me realize that it’s never too late to achieve your dreams like penny. Also sometimes life can take you on a completely different journey to the one you thought you were destined for.
- The author does an excellent job of portraying the emotions that come with a breakup, from the initial shock and sadness to the eventual acceptance and realization that it may have been for the best.
- I really liked the character development for penny, by the end she’s evolved into a stronger and more empowered version of herself.

✅Overall, it is a delightful heartwarming read that will leave you feeling good and inspired. It covers various themes like love, loss, self-discovery and the significance of seizing opportunities.

I’ve been struggling with the last couple of books I read so I needed a read I was guaranteed to enjoy. I went to my auto author Helga Jensen. This is the only book of hers left to read and I don’t think I can wait for her new one!

Penny is 50 and having to reevaluate life. Her boyfriend is a loser and her job isn’t what she wants in life. After an encounter, Penny decides she wants to be cabin crew and see the world. Can second chances come when you’re 50? Erm YES!!!

Oh Penny! At the start I really felt for her. I loved her character so much I was thinking about her even after I had stopped reading.
The writing was in such sublime detail I reached out to Helga to see if this was her experience of being cabin crew. FYI Helga is so wonderfully friendly if you ever have questions for her reach out to her!

I love books sent in Paris and Pennys journey and character development, her self belief and everything she learnt was heartwarming. Her courage to try something new was inspiring and this has to be one of my favourite characters I’ve read about.

I really enjoyed Helga's second novel A Scandinavian Summer so was keen to experience a novel set somewhere I am less familiar with than Denmark. Although parts of this book are set in Paris, it is not all in Paris, but that was fine.

This was just the book I needed right now, a new adventure to escape with. I have a 10 week old puppy keeping me from going away on adventures (other than short walkes) and pretty much taking up every minute of possible free time, hence my delay with this review. Despite a lack of sleep I found it really hard to put this book down in the evenings and get some sleep as soon as my puppy was asleep. I was completely invested in Penny's new adventures and getting to experience cabin crew life with her. I think she would make a brilliant friend. I really wanted all the best for Penny and hoped her new friends and captain Matt would be good for her.

Brilliant, real and fun... what more could you want?

Thank you @rararesources and @HelgaJensenF for letting me be part of this tour and reviewing this book. I love the front cover of Fly Me to Paris it's beautiful and I wished I was the person on the front. I really enjoyed reading Fly Me to Paris and I have not read anything about mature women in their 50s being fly attendant before. I found it hard to put down and I loved following Penny life from not being in the greatest place to doing something totally different to getting a new job flying around the world. I adore Penny she's brave and she made me laugh all the way through the book. This is a fantastic read and is set in Paris made me want to change places with Penny. This is the first book I have read from Helga Jenson and I will be reading more of her books. The first few pages took me little while to get into but after that i was hooked and coukd not put down. Highly recommend it took me away from my life for abit and enter pennys . 5 Stars.

Thank you to Netgalley and Hera for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

It seems that I am in the minority when I say that this book didn't work for me. On so many levels.

Let me just say that this book was not romantic, hilarious, nor uplifting.

Penny is supposed to be in her 50s, having just found out her boyfriend of 10 years is leaving her for another woman. A chance encounter with a customer in the dress shop where she works leads to an exciting new career and new opportunities for her.

The main characters are incredibly childish. I am over 50 and I just couldn't get past Penny's childish inner monologues. Matteo wasn't any better with his wishy-washy attitude and spoiled daughter, whom I also didn't care for.

I enjoyed the premise of the book, a late-in-life career move, becoming a flight attendant, making new friends and having new adventures. I enjoyed that aspect of the book. But that couldn't redeem any of the characters being written to act and sound like they are in their 20s.

This was a no for me, but if you can look past it all you may enjoy a quick, clean read.

Just what I needed a great book to get snuggled up to and start my day in the garden under the sun. Fly Me To Paris by Helga Jensen was a romantic, hilarious beautifully written book set in busy Paris the city of Love. It's a lovely quick read. Once you start to read this book I wanted to go back to Paris and see more of this wonderful city.
Helga Jensen had a fantastic ability to create characters who are so real and believable. She made this book come alive and an enjoyable read. I did not want it to finish.................My happy Book I ended up just sitting there rethinking it and just wanted more.

I highly recommend this book. Its a beautiful read form the start till the end! I loved it and will be reading more from this author.

Big thank you to Hera and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Oh yes who doesn't love Paris!! Penny is a older protagonist who I adored. She gets a job as cabin crew and has a few quite hilarious run ins with pilot Matt and it isn't long before sparks begin to fly. I loved that this story has older main characters as most books have characters no older than there 30's. It was a pleasure to read about more mature adults who I think are more fun and relateable. I read this whole book with a big smile on my face even during the hard times Penny faced because I had a feeling something better would be just around the corner and I was right. Penny also has a job at a dog shelter and if you know me you know that I can never resist a dog or dogs. Fly Me to Paris is a real uplifting story that made me happy and is a hoot to read.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I enjoyed it very much. Written in the first person, it focussed on the thoughts and feelings of Penny, the main character. She seems very gentle and sweet, living life in a rut until her boyfriend of 10 years calls an end to their relationship. Once she moves out of her comfort zone her life takes off, in more ways than one. Funny, credible and touching this was a shorter read than some chicklit novels. It would be good for a holiday with it's descriptions of France and slow burn second chance romance.

Penny Thomas is a good hearted soul. I felt guilty because she’s a better person than I am.
At fifty her life changed when the rotter she has been in a relationship with dumps her. I wanted to throw him over a cliff at how he treated her.
Then Penny makes a bold move and applies to become an airline steward.
Romance rears again, but of course, there are complications.
Personally, I would have left Becky in the lurch, but then I’m not that nice.
I can Identify with Penny because we’re the same age and I dream of doing something different too.
Thanks to Hera Publishing, NetGalley and Rachel’s Random Resources for the early read.

This book is amazing the way the author even took us through penny’s training for cabin crew was great same for wing ceremony and what it was like to have her first flight . I loved how penny and Matt didn’t like each other to began with but are deeply in love towards the end ! Wasn’t a boring book what so ever there was also many moments where you would be shocked !

This is a very heartwarming and relatable story about finding yourself and your soulmate at an older age in life.

Penny decides to apply to be Cabin Crew, at her induction she has a run in with a Pilot & it seems he's always around when Penny has a mishap! How does Penny end up getting on in her job & just who does this Pilot think he is...?!!

This was such a cute read & just what I needed!

First book by Helga Jenson and I just loved it!
Having recently been to Paris, which I loved, I could picture the streets and places in the story.
Penny is dumped by her boyfriend and decides to make a change in her career. She applies for a cabin crew position. Once she has the job, she was warned about pilots... however she meets Matt.

The story follows Penny's new adventure with flying, Paris and Matt, who has his own secret. Can Penny trust another man again? Will it be the happy ending Penny deserves?

Wish this book went on for longer. Definitely a reread at some point.

Paris is one of my favourite travel destinations, and this, as well as the cute cover, drew me in. This book uses a well-known plot and follows middle-aged Penny as she embarks on a career change as a flight attendant. Add in a grumpy pilot, and sparks fly.

This was a sweet, clean read, with nothing heavy or complicated.

I finished this easy, quick read in an hour.

Thank you NetGalley, Helga Jensen and Hera for the copy of Fly me to Paris. This is my personal review.
Penny just isn’t living the life she had envisioned for herself. She felt stuck and needed a change, especially after getting dumped by her boyfriend. She decides to train and become a cabin crew member. This begins an adventure and new life she needs.
I enjoyed this book a lot, the characters are wonderful. The author did a wonderful job of bringing the story to life for me.

Penny works in her friends children’s clothes shop, when she is unexpectedly dumped by her boyfriend of 15 years it’s the catalyst she needs to make some life changing decisions.

She decides to train to be an air hostess. She loves her new job and gets together with captain Matt Garcia after a romantic night away in Paris.

Found this book ok, but felt like the main character Penny lacked gumption and a back bone so found her quite annoying with the dithering and lack of self confidence

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. I love the cover! I liked the story but it just seemed very very rushed! I feel like I was reading a book on red bull. I felt since it was so rushed it was just very unrealistic. But if you are looking for a light hearted easy read about an older lady finding herself in life you will like this novel. It is great for a beach read.

Enjoyed this book - another in the genre of stepping out of your comfort zone and taking opportunities that come your way. For Penny, life begins at 50 and her new career as cabin crew ultimately leads her to a whole new life and a world of possibilities. Her love life isn’t straight forward, but she gets there in the end.
