The New Apprentice
Derek Fulstarter fancies himself a hero, but his quick temper keeps him in hot water. Like this morning, when a street fight with the neighborhood bully, Conrad, got him arrested, landing both of them in the stockades on Ploughman's Wharf. When they witness the bully's sister, Dani, getting kidnapped, Derek has to make a choice-be the hero he imagines himself to be or let the bully figure things out on his own. With a little push from a mentor, Derek realizes it's time to put up or shut up. He and Conrad escape the stockade and set off on an adventure with swaggering swordsmen, towering minotaurs, and pirates on the high seas to save the kidnapped children. Along the way, Derek discovers a new friend in Conrad, as well as admiration for Dani, who proves to be much stronger than Derek realized.

This is a fabulous new book for lovers of fantasy, suspense, mystery and epic journeys. One becomes immersed into a world of strange new lands, peoples and creatures, wizards, shamans, warriors, heroes and villains as you travel with Derek, Dani and Conrad on a thrilling adventure with plot twists and surprises that makes it hard to put the book down. I hear there is a sequel in the works from this fabulous new author and I can’t wait!

This is a good young adult fantasy fiction book. I particularly enjoyed seeing the progression of Derek as he first realizes and then struggles to master his temper and learn more about himself. Also I enjoyed reading about the rich environment in and around Zuid Horn. I think if Fantasy suits you this is one to pick up and check out.

An engaging adventure exploring a world of magic and loss. Each character is dynamic with their own journey. The world building is thoughtful and complex. This novel is perfect for lovers of D&D and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

Wow! This book hits you with action from page one and doesn’t let up. What a delight to be swept into the world of Derek and Conrad as they embark upon a life changing quest.
