A deadly bioterror attack has infected an unsuspecting America. Millions could die, but worse than that, the most severely affected begin displaying what can only be described as zombie-like symptoms—mindless rage and an immunity to pain. As the cities begin to struggle with infected, and slide into anarchy, a power-mad federal government sees the chaos as an opportunity. The only question is…how bad are things going to get? And can anything prevent the fall of the republic?
A book for the times. Tarr hits the failed administration of the country square between the eyes without saying FJB. Substitute Zombie for Covid and there you have it. Story line holds your attention and keeps you turning pages. The
Totally loved this book. James you are getting better and better with each book you write. Please make this a ten book series. I think you can do it and read them everyone.
This book was a good read. The character development proceeded nicely. Will be continuing the series. Only ding is some of proofreading could have been better but still enjoyable
although the story is a right wing propaganda fest, it’s pretty good.
First of all, let me say, the story was very well done, the characters unbelievable and interesting. Some would like, some you will not. The book is a total ballyhoo towards the right wing leading residence of this country, you have to realize that a lot of what has been said in this book is probably might be possible. The story was a little slow because this was the first book and the book is pretty long maybe too many characters in the book. The action is a little lighter than I would like for this type of book, but boy that I enjoy it. i’m only giving it four stars because it was a little slow before the story picked up. Hope the next book is a little bit more lively. If you don’t mind the right wing leanings of the author, you will enjoy this book, I am an independent, and I still liked it.
What a great take on a zombie apocalypse, I just love how the author has woven a tale of a bio-attack that seems to affect people in different ways which makes the whole story very believable. I love the fully rounded out characters that Tarr goes to great lengths to introduce and develop so that you can really get behind and cheer on. I’ve been reading zombie fiction for longer than I think I can remember and I was very surprised at how Tarr wove this narrative into such a believable story and three out the while Zombie genre of mindless, rotting, moaning, walking meet bags that other authors always seem to want us to believe could exist. I’m now onto the second book in his series and I am pretty sure he won’t disappoint me on excitement and story content as we move forward in this world that Tarr has created for our entertainment.
Normally, I’d rate a book rife with spelling, grammatical, and logic errors like this one as a one-star review. But I can’t in this case, it’s a good story, and the dialogue doesn’t suck either. It’s a wide-ranging story with good action and interesting characters. I’d just ask that you tone down letting your own personal politics show through your storytelling.
I’m not left or right, am a Veteran, and love guns. It’s distasteful when you’ve got smug Republicans and idiotic Democrats bumbling around, I don’t want to hear your take on masks or vaccines, I’m just here for the zombies.
Cascade, book 1 in the Fallen Republic series, is an outstanding Zombie apocalypse novel. Its easily the most believable zombie book I've read as well. Tarr does an excellent job of world building and gets the characters well established before the mayhem begins, and even the virus and its effects are believable. The author also does a great job of representing different backgrounds and political parties. This is as good as zombie horror gets. Its on par with Mira Grant's stellar Newsflesh series, the best zombie series to date! 5/5 stars, highly recommended to fans of apocalyptic survival and zombie horror!
Be prepared for one of the absolute best slow burn, world building zombie books in the genre.
This is not your average zombie book. This is a massive plot, multiple viewpoints, and a true world building book. Typically, I find those tedious and hard to follow - but not here. It’s so well done, you will end up researching to see if what happens is actually possible! Fantastic writing, absolutely believable, engrossing and I can’t wait for the next!!
What a load of crap! The author had to have had waaaaay too much caffeine to have written as many characters as they did. I dumped it at 34% simply because I couldn’t keep track of how many story lines were there, truly mind boggling!!!
a a very realistic look at what a collapse in America might look like. The retailer descriptions, characterizations, and dialogue are both the book's strength and weakness. Occasionally things just go on too long.
While this was an action packed well written story, I couldn’t get past the knee jerk right wing crap. Liberals are blamed for bad politics when history and current events show that it is the right side of things taking away rights….too bad the author count leave politics out of it. I won’t be reading book 2.
