So I usually steer clear of ARCs, because I'm the type of reader who lives for spoilers. And ARCs are the ultimate unchartered, unspoiled territory. Not my jam, ma'am! But I jumped at the chance to listen to the the ARC audiobook for Forbidden Warriors in Love. Since I've already read & loved these three novellas, there was zero risk - and the audiobook is duet narrated by J.F. Harding and Samantha Brentmoor... It was a no-brainer.
This audiobook contains three standalone novellas set in the Ruthless Warlords universe:
★ Forbidden Flame (#6) (formerly #1.5)
★ Princess Claimed (#7)
★ War Prize of the Beast (#8) (originally appeared in the Ruled By The Alpha anthology
🎙 J.F. Harding is one of my favorite narrators. I've listened to him play a beast (The Beast), an alien (Mandy and the Tentacle Monster), and a self-made American industrialist (Crying Wolfe) - and he made them all feel authentic. In Forbidden Flame and Princess Claimed, he brings a slightly wicked, wry tone to his voice. And then he gets extra-growly in War Prize. 🥵
🎙 Samantha Brentmoor also did a great job. This was my first time listening to her, and she reminded me a bit of Stella Hunter, but with a subtle hint of Kathleen Turner smokiness. (Not to go all "Ursula" here - but I wish I had her voice!)

One thing I love about the Ruthless Warlords series is how it shakes up the power imbalances inherent in Omegaverse. Don't get me wrong - Anarcheim is in nothing like Sweetverse. But in this world, Omegas can have superpowers - and finding their fated mates dials up those powers. Which means their Alpha mates don't have all the control, and they're forced to step up their game and learn how to compromise and communicate. It's awesome and I find it oddly adorable too.
All of these novellas are interconnected but fine standalone. (War Prize especially exists in it's own bubble.) That said, you'll get more context if you're already familiar with this universe. And since the first book is one of my top favorites ever, I'll always recommend starting there.

(#6) Forbidden Flame
Prior to this novella, Magnus' (MMC) uncle killed his father, usurped the throne, and banished him to the Mad Max-ish dystopian wasteland known as the Forbidden Sector. Naturally, he's out for revenge.
In his pursuit to regain his birthright, he intercepts a deadly "weapon" - his fated mate, Amora (FMC). Too bad she's a literal femme fatale - one touch causes spontaneous combustion 🔥! When she goes in heat, they have to get very creative without touching 😏. I really loved the way the haze of rut kept playing with their minds.
Magnus is a reluctant hero leading a ragtag band of castoffs in a gritty environment, so we see a bit of the "he upgrades for her" trope. The FMC is touch-starved of course, and I wanted more on that. I also wanted to learn more about Amora in general. But I love how determined and confident he was to make it work with her.

We first meet Pavel (MMC) in Forbidden Flame - he's Magnus' loyal comrade with the broken horn.
He craves solitude due to his PTSD - but then Ari (FMC) literally falls into his arms. She was on the run from baddies when she temporarily loses her sight & memory. Her powers are Unlocking, and a mix of X-ray vision & "radar sense".
Personally, I'm not a fan of the Amnesia trope, but I really liked the rest. My heart ached for Pavel and what he endured. The FMC is kind of (spoiler) , and I appreciate morally gray FMCs. There were also some creatively spicy scenes. And if you ever felt personally victimized by Casablanca, this felt like a fun, reimagined HEA.
This is fine standalone, but you'll get a little more context if you read Forbidden Flame first.

Take the chaotic mindset from one of Ruby Dixon's Fireblood Dragons, and mix him with one of Lizzy Bequin's Ukkur Mates - and you've got Cheim!
Somewhere on a distant, primitive planet, he's lost in a red haze of instinct and violence - and plans to eat Anara (FMC). Then he scents her, and decides to eat her instead 😏. Unfortunately for him, that's when she discovers her power of Levitation. This story was kinda bonkers - and I loved it even more on my second read. The first time I missed some of the cuteness because I was like 🫣 "How dark is this going to get?" (I first read it in the Ruled By The Alpha anthology.)
Our MMC discovers these fuzzy new feelings - and it's adorable. He decides all he wants is to keep hearing her happy purrs - and is determined to figure out how. I thought it was cute AF!

I had so much fun!! [Audiobook Review]
"Forbidden Warlords in Love" boxset by Alison Aimes consist of 3 Darkish, Fated Mates, Omegaverse novellas with an insta-feel yet the romance feels genuine & not rushed, there's also some action-suspense components with gives them an edge, & a sweet HEA! I've read all 3 seperately before listening and I wholeheartedly recommend them! They're in the wider Alphaverse by Alison but can be read/listened standalone. Thank you so much to Alison for my audiobook copy 🥰.
Magnus, the exiled alpha king looking for revenge meets his match in Amora, an omega with a volatile gift who had only ever wanted a place to belong in "Forbidden Flame".
Pavel (Mag's subordinate), an outlaw with a haunted past finds his angel Ari when she literally crashes into him from above, Have they really lived different lives or do they have the same lawless heart? Find in "Princess Claimed". (These two books are set in the forbidden sector!)
See the beginning of this Alphaverse in Prequel "War Prize of the Beast" as Cheim saves the omega-in-distress Anara & takes her as his prize!
The audiobook narration is by duet Samantha Brentmoor, JF Harding is so amazing. Their voices are smooth, pleasant & easy to understand. I especially LOVED how Harding narrated the side characters & how both of them made those distinguishable. They didn't sound flat and had appropriate emotions for all scenes. I feel so happy 🥰. Definitely recommend!

This great box set contains three amazing and out of this world novellas set in Alison Aimes “Ruthless Warlords” series, each story features different lead characters and stands on its own. Each one is just as fascinating as the other, starting with “Forbidden Flame” an alpha crime boss exiled to the forbidden sector is plotting his revenge and he finds his way in, by delivering a package, a package he was not supposed to see, but then the contents of it moves, so he had to check what it was and surprised at what he finds, not just a fiery omega, someone his enemy wants as a tool, but she is his mate. The second story, Princess Claimed”, an ex-convict exiled to the forbidden sector runs a shipping business with a partner who drops by occasionally, since he prefers to be a loner. His life changes when an angel falls from the sky and into his arms. She has no memory of who she was, where she came from or how she got there. He knows she is his mate, but he still tries to find out who she is and then memories come back to her, and she fears she will put him in danger. Can their relationship even be? The third story, “War Prize of the Beast” is the most barbaric of the three, the beast found his prey, but the prey turns into something much more, something sweet and delicious, his mate. I loved the originality of these stories, they are fascinating and imaginative, and have plenty of drama, action, twists and turns, and steam. Alison Aimes, thank you for these amazing stories and the fascinating omega verse.

Harding and Samantha Brentmoor did an amazing job bringing these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each their own distinct voice and personality. I loved how they took each role and made it their own and they were believable in every role they played. They set the perfect tone for each story, captured all the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers are a versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen.

I’m not going to break them down individually. I’m just going to say narrators Samantha Brentmoor and J. F. Harding are outstanding as always! Allison Aimes brings us three novellas that are a great listen! Full of action, 🔥🔥🔥and so dark. These three things make for some of my favorite listens. You will not regret listening to them and I look forward to going back to the beginning and listening to the entire collection.

I have really enjoyed the series so far, so I knew I would easily be swept up in this audiobook narrated in DUET! These Alphas all live in The Forbidden sector, which is unplanned, unregulated, and lawless. The Alphas are demanding, cocky, determined to remain alone, and each is the perfect match for each individual Omega. Alison delivers female characters who are unique and retain their self awareness and self worth in this Alpha/Omega universe, which is a tricky thing to do.
Forbidden Flame tells the story of Magnus and Amora Rose. He is bent on revenge and she just wants to fit in somewhere. Her gift is volatile and unique, and their pairing is perfection. Princess Claimed features Ari, who is on the run and has no memory of who she is or where she came from. Pavl is an outlaw living in exile when she quite literally falls into his arms. War Price of the Beast is an enemies to lovers, forced proximity, super hawt love story of Cheim, who views himself as a beast, incapable love, simply a predator. This bundled book set contains three stories, all stand-alones, from the fabulous Ruthless Warlords series by Alison Aimes and can be read in any order! Each book contains a different super hot and sexy couple and their story! The book practically sizzles as you read it! What I love most about this collection is that the author is a master at pulling you into this incredible Omegaverse world, where the men are Alphas with purpose and are devoted to their Omega mate. The heat is beyond explanation and left me panting for more. I have loved all of this series, and I am always happy to see the books in sets!!

Who doesn’t love a good omegaverse series? These books were pack with possessive alpha-male energy. The world building in all three of these were really good and I enjoyed that each character and each story were completely different and unique.
Samantha and JF Hardings performances were perfect in this duet style narration,. Each giving the stories their own voices. This was my first time listening to both of these narrators and I really enjoyed them.
I do highly recommend these books, they’re a fast paced listen and really well written & performed.

Thoroughly enjoyed the three books that are included. Fierce characters and intense storylines grab and hold your attention easily. Undeniable chemistry and sizzling sparks combine with romance, suspense, action, darkness, adventure, excitement, hot passion and swoon to create totally yummy tales that are the perfect way to get you out of your head and into a sea of feels.

This set of books tells more stories in the Forbidden Warlords universe. Magnus, Pavel, and Chiem are unique in their fated mate stories. I enjoyed reading about them.

This was my first time reading books by Alison Aimee. These books are definitely different than most books I typically read, and, honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the story lines. All three books had storylines that were unique and interesting with some fun twists. The writing was good with well developed characters and so much good conflict. The heroes are very, very alpha in these stories, but, in the end, they definitely show how much they love their mates and consider them as equals. The stories were short, but packed in so much great story. All of the books were super steamy. I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. The audiobook narration style was different from most audiobooks. It was like dual narration where the female read her dialogue and the male read his dialogue. Personally, I love this style of audiobook, so I enjoyed it very much!! I would definitely read more from this author.

I’ve read each of these stories individually but it’s great to have them in a set for easy binge reading! They’re all well written and edited, with intense and erotic intimate scenes, great character interactions, and a sexy omegaverse vibe. Some of these I received copies from the author but at least one I bought. This is my voluntary honest review.
