17 books2 followersசுப்ரபாரதிமணியன் (ஆர்.பி.சுப்ரமணியம்) (அக்டோபர் 25, 1955) தமிழில் சிறுகதைகளையும் நாவல்களையும் எழுதிவரும் எழுத்தாளர். சுற்றுச்சூழலியலில் ஆர்வம் கொண்டு களப்பணிகளில் ஈடுபடுபவர். திருப்பூர் நகரைச் சேர்ந்தவர். திருப்பூர் மாசுபாட்டுக்கு எதிராக எழுதிய நாவல்கள் வழியாக அறியப்படுபவர்.
சுப்ரபாரதிமணியனின் முதல் படைப்பு திருப்பூர் விழிப்பு இடதுசாரி இதழில் 1977-ல் வெளிவந்த சிறுகதையான சுதந்திர வீதிகள் (இந்தியாவின் அவசரகால கட்டம் சார்ந்த சிறுகதை), முதல் சிறுகதைத் தொகுதி அப்பா. முதல் நாவல் 1987-ல் வெளிவந்த 'மற்றும் சிலர்’. இலக்கிய ஆக்கத்தில் செல்வாக்கு செலுத்திய முன்னோடிகள் - ஜெயகாந்தன், கிரா, ஜெயந்தன் என்று குறிப்பிடுகிறார். சுப்ரபாரதிமணியன் திருப்பூர் கலை இலக்கியப் பெருமன்றத்தின் உறுப்பினர்.
சுப்ரபாரதிமணியன் கனவு என்னும் இலக்கியச்சிற்றிதழை 1986-ல் ஹைதராபாதில் ஆரம்பித்தார். திருப்பத்தூர், திருப்பூர் ஆகிய ஊர்களில் இருந்து தொடர்ந்து வெளிவருகிறது. கனவு இதழ் சார்பாக தற்கால மலையாளக் கவிதைகள் தற்கால கன்னடக் கவிதைகள் போன்ற சிறப்பிதழ்கள் வெளியிடப்பட்டன. அசோகமித்திரன், சுந்தர ராமசாமி ஆகியோருக்கு அறுபதாண்டு நிறைவு மலர்கள் வெளியிடப்பட்டன.
தமிழில் புறவயமான மொழியும் கச்சிதமான வடிவமும் கொண்ட யதார்த்தவாதப் படைப்புகளை எழுதியவர்களில் ஒருவர் சுப்ரபாரதிமணியன். திருப்பூரை களமாகக் கொண்டு அரைநூற்றாண்டில் சுற்றுச்சூழலிலும் மானுட உறவுகளிலும் உருவான மாற்றங்களை ஆராய்பவர். பொதுவாக வீழ்ச்சியின் சித்திரமே அவருடைய நூல்களில் உள்ளது. ஆனால் உணர்வுநிலைகளை வெளிக்காட்டாமல், நாடகீயமான தருணங்களை உருவாக்காமல், நேரடியாகச் சிந்தனைகளை விவாதிக்காமல் வாழ்க்கையை நோக்கி ஒரு கண்ணாடியை திருப்பி வைத்ததுபோல எழுதப்பட்டவை சுப்ரபாரதி மணியனின் கதைகள். அவற்றை சமூகவாழ்க்கையின் ஆவணப்பதிவுகள் என்று சொல்லலாம்.

Okay just finished Oh! Hyderabad! Reading this book felt like it found me at the right time. I got to know so much more about Hyderabad than I did in the last 22 years of my life of living here.
I just got to know about the skin care hospital in ESI hospital no one suggested me before. Also about the Tivoli theatre where English films were screened regularly, the Hindu Muslim riots, Tamilians lives in Hyderabad and how difficult it can be without knowing much Telugu lol. I didn't know Hyderabad was tough to live without knowing Telugu, I guess it's only easy for people who knows Hindi?
Kudos to the translator Ramgopal for capturing all the emotions and translating them so well from Tamil to English!! A must read for people who are looking to know more about Hyderabad and its culture.
