Author Susan Feddema-Leonard has compiled a vast amount of historical and geographical data, all wrapped between the colourful hardboard covers of People & Peaks of Willmore Wilderness Park: 1800s to mid-1900s. The main setting is the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains, north of Jasper National Park, in Alberta Canada. Forays, over the Continental Divide in and out of British Columbia, are not uncommon. The Natives of the area are strongly represented, as are a great number of men and women, from both Alberta and British Columbia, who came to outfit, guide, and cater to wilderness adventurers. The predominant mode of travel, over the many miles of mountain trails, was with horses. There is a very strong theme of trophy hunting throughout, both in text and in the broad selection of photography. The layout format and quality of the book is excellent. Chief Editor Estella Cheverie is notably credited for her contribution. I would rate this book a strong four and one-half stars.
