Incredible insight into what it was like to live on Great Blasket Island in the late 1800s and early 1900s. At times I had to work to keep my focus on reading as it truly is a bit of snippets from a diary over time. Could be due to my focus as a female but was interesting on the lack of discussion about his wife after marrying her. Overall, it inspires a trip to the Blasket Islands and to learn more Irish.
