Sergeant Benton, while on an errand for Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, passes his childhood home and is haunted by his past.

A short adaptation of the BBV episode of the same name, well written and atmospheric.

This novelization, though short, was great! I loved it! While I liked the film, this book gives it a cohesive story. While I haven't read Who Killed Kennedy or The Scales of Injustice yet, I love the references to the Vault, C19, and the Glasshouse. I also love the appearance of Douglas Cavendish from Downtime and the narrative decision to link the man trying to hijack the "radioactive materials" in Wartime to Henry van Statten in the "Dalek" episode of NuWho. It makes so much sense for Benton to continue working for UNIT, especially doing undercover work. I love that the mention of Benton being a used car salesman by 1979 in "Mawydryn Undead" is referenced in this story as being an undercover mission. I loved that the author set a timeline of events for this story. The only thing I didn't like about this is that the author forgot that Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart's adventure in "Battlefield" is set in 1997, after the events of this story and Downtime (1995, according to both film and book).

A pleasant read, the decision to make the video a middle section was a good one, helping make more sense of why things happened.
I’m glad Telos are publishing these.

A fun read and a rather clever expansion on the original short story from many years ago. Probably only of interest to Doctor Who fans however.
