Eleanor has only a few memories of her childhood—white roses, a beautiful but cold queen, a garden with mirrors, and terrifying creatures.

But mostly, she remembers a boy. A boy who saved her from whatever her memory is holding hostage—a boy who wasn’t human.

Now eighteen, Eleanor is old enough to leave the orphanage she’s lived in for the last twelve years. Determined to rediscover her lost memories and find the friend who rescued her, she ventures into the Rose Briar Woods.

But when she reunites with her youthful hero, she discovers he is a boy no longer. Drake is a broken prince of Faerie, tarnished by a wicked curse and haunted by the fear that history will soon repeat itself. Only together can the pair vanquish the monsters from their past, but memories are not the only thing they’ll have to face.

A dark queen stirs in her unnatural slumber, and so does the fearsome beast that waits in the shadows, eager for her to wake once more…

The Disgraced Fae is a tale of love, loyalty, and magic. Ea ch book in the series is a complete story, and although it’s best to read them in order, there are no cliffhangers.

I really enjoyed this one. I loved the characters of Drake and Eleanor and their relationship. Best friends as children they were torn apart and he spent the rest of his life searching for her. Lots of fun tension and chemistry. I did feel the "mystery" was a tad obvious and the ending wrapped up a little neatly/quickly. But the overall story and all was just a fun, quick escape.

I like that while this is a trilogy, each book stands pretty well on its own.

Content Rated PG+
Clean romance, kissing, closed door intimacy between married couple. No language, mild violence.

Plot- The hinge point of the plot is that the evil queen is still a menace, and yet the characters have every chance to execute her while she’s incapacitated and choose not to. Their reasoning really didn’t hold up to scrutiny, which put a damper on my enjoyment of the novel.

“We both know what this woman [the evil queen] has done—and will do again if she gets the chance.”
I lower my eyes. “Is it very wretched of me to admit my first thought is we should drive a dagger through her heart and be done with it?”
“We’ve all thought it,” Drake says quietly. “But if we fall to her level—“
“We’re no better than she.”

Um, actually it’s called the criminal justice system. A person commits mass murder = legal consequences. I’m baffled as to why this so hard to understand? Why do they think it’s immoral and unethical to deal justice to an evil murderer? Who cares if she was the queen? Just have a trial, sentence her to capital punishment, and inject her with poison. Viola.

And the evil queen’s fae-eating beasts? Same thing. Just put them down like any other dangerous animal that has killed people. Why are they protecting these feral, dangerous animals? Their silly scruples are eye-roll worthy.

Writing Overall, the writing was good.
The kissing scenes were swoony but still appropriate.

The action scene at the climax left something to be desired, though. The dragon was overcome way too easily. The climax should be prolonged a bit; it should be hard for the character to overcome the conflict so that it feels well earned. It should feel like there’s something big at stake.
This author could definitely do better, more angsty, fight scenes/climax scenes. Make my blood pump! Make it exciting!

Sadly, that was not the case here. Too bad because I really enjoyed other series by this author duo.

Characters- The FMC was sweet. The MMC was nice. I liked them both. I missed flirty banter but that just wasn’t part of their personalities.
The side characters were disappointing, tho. Kinda nonentities.
The FMC from book 1, Alice, is meh.
The current queen, Sabine, who was the FMC in book 2, is cold and aloof. It’s mentioned multiple times how easily angered she is.

“Eleanor can work here,” Alex offers. “I’ll make room for her. She can fill in as a ticket girl or a theatre maid. Or she can stay in the hotel as a guest.”
Though it’s a nice, tidy solution, I hesitate.“Sabine wouldn’t like it.”
“Why?” Alex asks.
“It doesn’t matter,” I say, growing weary. “Just know I’m saving you from death and appreciate it.”
He blanches, but he knows Sabine well enough to nod.

Ummmm, okay…. So Sabine is a villain now who would kill her own fiancé (Alex) for helping a peasant girl that her brother loves. Cool, cool.

Romance- Good chemistry in a few scenes. The romance featured a miscommunication but that didn’t bother me. It prolonged their tension, so I liked it.

Content-
Language- no swearing
Spice- clean. some kissing. The two MCs are both virgins and have high morals.
Cover- good
POV- dual POV
Cliffhanger- no
Format- KU

How I rated the series-
Book 1, “The Masked Fae” - 3.5 stars
Book 2, “The Gilded Fae” - 2.5 stars
Book 3, “The Disgraced Fae” - 2.5 stars

(I felt that this particular series was weak, but I have really enjoyed some of her other books!!!)

This book was my favorite of the series. With everything Drake went through, I was eager to read about him finding Eleanor and getting his happily ever after. It’s a sweet romance, full of brokenness and healing. There are definitely some darker aspects to the story, though.

Content:
I will warn that there are a few scenes steamier than I prefer, despite not going beyond kissing on the page or out of wedlock. There is no foul language. There is some violence, but it’s not excessive. There is magic. There are no references to faith or God.

Disappointed cause this was the book I was looking forward to reading the most, ever since I'd met Drake in book 1! Eleanor didn't have much of a personality so the whole thing kind fell flat for me. Now I eagerly await Alaric's book!!

Wow, I loved this series! 🥹 The emotional journeys, the characters, the heart-stopping action and twists.

Drake deserved every inch of his HEA and I’m so glad it was with Eleanor!

Love seeing all the royal sibs together and working with each tower—and justice being served once and for all! Talk about epic. 🤩

Content: married fade to black; passionate kissing & brief mentions of desire to consummate the marriage (tastefully handled but wouldn’t hand to a young YA reader; appropriate for 17-18yo readers)

And now we finally find out whatever happened to little Eleanor (even if they thought her name was Alice).

Feya was found as a child just outside the border of the West Faelands as a child with no memory of who she was or her name other than stories of a boy playmate and magic. Adults insisting over the years it’s just an imaginary friend, she is now due to age out of the system and must find her way in the world, alone..

The new gardener, however, may not be all as he seems- especially as he gives her nightly roses that begin to give her dreams that slowly reveal her past to her. Could it be true that the so-called imaginary friend could be real? Could someone from her past have been searching for her all these years?

It seems too good to be true, but she can’t deny someone or something is helping her along her path.

Can she finally remember her past and maybe find family?

It’s bittersweet in a sense to have Eleanor and Drake reunited. They truly are better together and with such a tender love as it moves from childhood friendship into a deeper and richer adult relationship. More so as we already know much of Drake’s torment after Ellie disappears and now we see Ellie’s equally sad path to adulthood.

Two dear hearts that never deserves such darkness should only find light and happiness from here, but there are many a hurdle between start and the end.

I really loved the second book where we learned Sabine’s story, but I think this is now my favorite of the trilogy. I do wish, however, we learned what set Drake onto this path to reach the orphanage. When last we saw him he was with Sabine at the theater and then he disappears- did the fortune teller give him a clue to Ellie’s whereabouts? I kept waiting for it to be mentioned but it didn’t come up. In the end it doesn’t really matter, but I still would have liked to know if she whispered to him that his childhood friend was really still alive after she’s already inserted herself into Alex and Sabine’s love story.

Happy endings do abound and this is one I’d say is for older teens not preteen as there are some adult themes, though nothing takes place on the written page. Not that I think any of it is inappropriate, but it’s not the direction I’d want my child’s reading to be at an elementary school level.

I have been waiting for this book to come out for a long time. And then it DID come out and I read it in a day. No regrets. 😛

Summary: Eleanor (also called Faye and Alice) has few memories of her past and some of the memories she has are just strange. This leads her to talk to roses, fear crickets, and strike a friendship with a mysterious gardener (but perhaps that one isn’t so strange because HOT! I want to be friends with him too . . . 😉).

But now that she has aged out of the orphanage she grew up in and some of her previous memories are becoming clearer, she sets out into a dangerous world of humans and fae ready to find the answers/romance/family/home she has been missing.

Pros: I loved Drake from the first book of this series and have been waiting for his book FOREVER. Like almost a whole year since I first read Masked Fae!! And he is just great.

And Eleanor is sweet and strange and just everything she should be.

So cute.

Lots of fun cameos from the previous books show up that I enjoyed. Glad to see Fredrick and Alex still doing good things and all the changes in the fae world with the new queen and coming regent.

And yeah, I just enjoy this world, so I’m glad to hear that Tapscott is going to continue with more of the side-characters in the future. 🙂

Cons: I wasn’t quite as invested in the evil-queen plot in this one, but then, I suppose we had to do SOMETHING when we weren’t staring lovingly into each other’s eyes...

Conclusion: I knew I would love this book and then I DID love this book and now I just get to congratulate myself for being smart (fine... Tapscott can get some congratulations too for actually writing the book, but only because I’m feeling generous 😛).

Read it now if you like sweet romance with lightning-fast engagements/marriages, quirky fae, evil queens, and all of those things together.

(It's a standalone romance, and I think you could read it as a standalone, but you might want to read the series in order for full effect).

So I have to admit that I don’t really remember the first two books but this book was still amazing! The Disgraced Fae is the third book in Shari L Tapscott’s Royal Fae of Rose Briar Woods.
Eleanor and Drake were wonderful characters! They were both really kind and I loved reading about their interactions with each other. I loved getting to finally really see Drake and understand who he was. He was a complicated character and because of his curse, I didn’t really feel like I knew him. Drake had to figure out how to fight for Eleanor. Eleanor was also a fun character. She was new so it was cool to read about her. She was trying to find herself and struggling to find her place.
The plot was really engaging and I did not know what was going to happen to Drake and Eleanor. I like the overarching theme of the series and how each of the siblings grew. I was on the edge of my seat as I read about Eleanor and Drake and the evils that they faced. The romance was also sweet. I like the blend of romance and adventure.
The Disgraced Fae is a must read! However it is part of a series and best to read in order although it can be read standalone. I would definitely recommend this book! The Disgraced Fae is a clean fantasy romance.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

The Disgraced Fae is the swoony finale to the first two books in the Rose Briar Woods series. Drake is finally free of the curse his mother struck him with for loving and helping a 'pet' human. He begins his search for his dearest friend, Eleanor, in hopes of discovering what happened to her so many years ago. Feya, living in a small town orphanage, has no memory of her past, but is troubled by vivid dreams of a boy that everyone thinks is an imaginary friend. Finding a discarded rose on a foot path as she reaches the age where she has to leave the orphanage and earn a living, Feya's dream start to have the ring of memory and she realizes the answers lie across the bridge that lead into the realm of the Fae. There, Feya discovers she is Eleanor and that there is a wicked sleeping queen, who hates her and may not be as asleep as Drake believes her to be! Fans of this series will enjoy reading about Brahm, Alice, and Sabine as they help Drake and Eleanor find their happily ever after.

Okay, two pet peeves:

First: Eleanor has had golden hair from book one all the way until the middle of this book. And then all of a sudden it’s brown. Like, What The Heck?!!!! Go on and on and on about her blonde hair and then, “oh, my brown hair is in the way.” Unacceptable. Maybe because Alice and Sabine are also blondes? No, still unacceptable. Because the girl on the cover isn’t? Well, maybe have her dye her hair to hide or something.
Two: the ending felt really really rushed to me. Like, let’s just drop in this convenient weapon and backstory less than 100 pages at the end. It’s finnneee (no, it isn’t).

But, despite these pain points (and the grammar errors (yet ANOTHER person who doesn’t get when to use “me” instead of “I”)), I really did enjoy seeing the end of the story for these characters. In a more perfect book, I would have requested more time watching Alice and Eleanor together, but whatevs.

Conclusion: I think the first book was the best.

I've been waiting for Drake's story since the beginning of this series. Drake is one of three siblings, Fae royalty, with their mother being the worst queen EVER.

It's hard to say too much without giving things away. I will say that I love Drake. I love his devotion to Eleanor. He adores her and it shows in everything he does- all the little things. His longing for her made my heart melt. The ending was full of danger and magic. It was everything I thought and hoped it would be.

This book and this series is light, easy reading that sweeps you away to a far off place. It was the perfect distraction for me and a great change up to what I've been reading lately.

You really must read this series in order so if you haven't started this series yet, now is the perfect time.

So this was probably my favorite of the series. Drake and Eleanor had a lot of potential as characters and as a couple. Their re-meeting was cute and I liked the magic rose thing. I liked that she always referred to Marison and Kallin as aunt and uncle and Drake as a friend… it would have been too uncomfortable for me if they had referred to each other as brother and sister growing up. The romance was focused a lot more on the physical aspect, and I missed seeing the emotional part of them actually falling in love.

This book stayed consistent with the rest of the series in that the romance wasn’t my favorite and there wasn’t much plot. The entire moment all 3 books led up to lasted maybe two pages. While I do like when things wrap up nicely and it’s not too dramatic, this was a little too fast, even for me.

Ahh, Drake! I was so happy this last story was his and that he finally got his HEA!!!

Read if you love
Fantasy with fae and magic
Childhood friends to lovers
Marriage of convenience
Fated mates/lovers vibe
Dragons
Dual POV
Cursed heroes
Mythical creatures
Supense and Adventure

This was such a fun conclusion to the series and I loved how everything was wrapped up! I like Drake and Eleanor together and wow, was there some serious chemistry between the two, but I would have loved to see a little more emotional connection besides the "we were best friends when we were young" connection. All in all, a fun series by one of my favorite fantasy authors. Highly bingeable and enjoyable!

I've been so excited for Drake's story ever since the first book! Then to get Eleanor's story as well! Eeep!

The two leads in this book have SO much healing to do! They've both been hurt by events in the past, and they've always been each other's sanctuary. The romance is fairly quick, but the leads have a great deal of history that make the quick romance make sense. This book is a bit of a step up in terms of romance (several swoony kisses and a very tasteful fade-to-black scene that cuts away long before things get into spicy territory). But everything is still very tastefully done and while it is swoony, it stays away from crossing the line into spice on the page.

Finally!!!

Drake and Eleanor’s story!!!

I’ve been waiting for this story, and it didn’t disappoint. Drake finally finds Eleanor and knows of her fate. But she doesn’t have her memories of her life before she was found and placed in an orphanage.

She eventually regains them and is reunited with the only family she remembers, but also her biological family that never forgot her.

So much action in this story with the threat of the sleeping evil queen lurking about. I was nervous how things would go down, but the ending was perfect. I loved it!!!

Great read

I enjoyed this book a lot. It was short, simple, and still full of depth. The characters were flushed out well, and I didn't feel as if things were forced or hurried or skipped. There was tension and drama, and yet the story was still laid back and easy to read.
Shari is definitely becoming one of my go-to authors for a simple but full storyline.
*This book is PG rated. There is no swearing. There is some fantasy bloody violence. There are several kisses, passionate but tasteful and discrete.

Anyone who’s followed my page for a while knows that Shari L. Tapscott is one of my very favorite authors. I always catch myself smiling or giggling at the interaction and chemistry between her main leads. She also creates beautiful and magical worlds in every story and this one is no exception. ‘The Disgraced Fae’ is the 3rd book in the Royal Fae of Rose Briar Woods and it was so sweet and magical. I loved it from beginning to end. If you are looking for a fun series to read with magic and swoon worthy moments, definitely check this one out!

great finish!

Such a great story! Full of reunions, fulfilled promises, and new vows for Drake and Eleanor! Romance that springs from friendship and old memories I s very touching and beautifully written. It’s clean and behind doors though kissing scenes are a bit descriptive but not new to the style.
The story is well developed, the characters are relatable, and you know you’ll want to know more about the Fae world Shari had built.
It’s the third book and should be read as such. It ties everything together well.

Now can we have a second chance HEA for Regina, please?

This entire series is clean and it’s pretty fun - good characters, fun plots, interesting world, decent romances. It’s definitely one of the earlier books that Tapscott has put out though and it shows in the quality.

I enjoyed these but if I had read these as my first Tapscott books, I’m not sure I would have read more of her books.

Tapscott’s Riven Kingdom, Silver & Orchids, Corsairs Curse, and Crest and Crown series are wonderful and well worth reading. I could take or leave this series though, and do without the Obsidian Queen series entirely.

A Lovely Fairytale

The story of Drake and Eleanor is the perfect way to wrap up this series arc! I love that the story picked up from book two and allowed the reader to jump right in. Drake's story in past books was so heartbreaking, so to have him and Eleanor together was so welcome. We all need a sweet fae story with a wicked queen who gets what she deserves- making a escape from reality summer read!

Perfection! Shari L. Tapscott continues to be my favorite author. This was an emotional and sweet end to the series. I cried and laughed and hoped with the characters. Eleanor was a sweet and gentle heroine and Drake was the perfect scarred hero. Every moment that they spent together tugged at my heart. It was nice seeing the characters from the last two books as well. The ending seemed like perfect justice for Drake and Eleanor. I’m in love with the series but deeply saddened that it is over. I eagerly await all of Tapscott’s upcoming novels!

“You can have whatever you want, princess. A cottage, a castle. If you request the world, I’ll give it to you."

Reading this book made me feel like I was stepping into a fairy tale. It was absolutely wonderful! Drake has intrigued me since the first book, so I have been patiently awaiting his story. I wasn't disappointed! His love for Eleanor was so sweet and it was beautiful reading about them helping each other heal from the past.

Read if you enjoy:
*second chance romance
*LOTS of pining
*handsome heroes & strong heroines
*magical worlds

Sweet

After seeing Drake on the sidelines, it was nice to see him center stage. I expected a little more "madness" or social avoidance, but all in all, he was an enjoyable hero. Eleanor stepped into her rememberances very well, which definitely mitigated a lot of angst other authors like to use.

I love that I have been able to read this series with breaks. One story ends and it feels complete. The next story is about different people but same kingdom. I have enjoyed all of these. This one was great! These are just fun to read. Good story. Lots of fun tension. This started slowish and picked up fast. Great for teens.

This was the final book in the series. I’ve enjoyed getting to know each of the characters who we meet throughout the series. This one was particularly sweet for Drake, who had been under a curse through the early part of the series. Drake and Eleanor bring everything full circle and we finally get to see the queen get what is due to her!

Drake and Eleanor’s story is lovely. While I personally loved the book, I would not offer this book to a young teenager. There are a couple scenes that, while not explicit in word choice or actions (PG13 rating) I wouldn’t necessarily want running around in my teenagers head. I am on the more conservative side of what media I let my kiddos absorb.

Loved it!!

The Disgraced Fae was a fun book and such a page-turner! Eleanor was sweet and easy to root for, while Drake was so compassionate, never resting until he reunited with his Eleanor. I loved the story, loved the characters, and Loved the swoony kisses! As usual, Shari did not disappoint in the romance, while still keeping it clean. Loved it!!
