Whilst The Compound is only a little book, it packs quite the punch! Full of suspense and high-action thrills from the first few pages.

In this story, The Compound refers to a televised event, where so-called "political prisoners" are sent to an offshore facility and made to survive again lethal hunters; human, robots, and even cyborgs are among the hunters. A sort of "The Hunger Games" meets "V For Vendetta" meets "Bladerunner" hybrid.

For the majority of the story, we follow Robyn, a black trans women. After raging against the system for the rights of trans folk, Robyn is forced to participate in The Compound, along with seventeen other "undesirables".

As hard of a read as it may sound at first, especially to any trans readers, just know that the tide soon turns for the better (trying not to spoil anything!)

Fast paced and volatile, The Compound manages to achieve greatness within its 124 pages. A definite recommendation from me!
