The author's writing chops are evident in a few breathtakingly beautiful sentences. I'm glad I read this book. That said, it was a three star read for me because it dragged and got repetitious in spots. Mary Kay uses memories and hallucinations during her nine day coma to tell the stories of significant people and events in her life. Some of it was fascinating but there were many times in the last half of the book when I thought, "Oh please, not another story about Frank or Gina or Kay that makes the same point you've made and reinforced half a dozen times already!"
