Rate this book
The world of politics is treacherous enough, but in Forland, it's deadly confusing. When her royal father is murdered by a greedy drug manufacturer, Princess Alita must step forward to take over the kingdom. Unfortunately, a freak magical mishap has trapped her in the body of Falis, the bounty hunter. Now Alita must stay disguised as a servant while the battle-savvy Falis sits on the throne in her body! Threatened by a coup and attacks from the outside, the fate of the kingdom is in the hands of Alita and Falis. Switched souls or not, there's another royal heir and Alita has to hold everything together for a little longer. As though this weren't enough to juggle, evil Professor Akamashi and his twin android assassins are out to cause some trouble of their own.

Murder Princess is a great manga that seemingly no one has ever heard of. The plot is fun, but not earth-shatteringly original. A bounty hunter and a princess swap bodies during a freak accident, and the princess employees the bounty hunter to rule in her place and protect the kingdom from various threats. The volume does move along quite quickly, and might confusing to some at first. I happened to watch the anime adaption first, which I actually prefer over the manga, just because it is paced a bit better.

The art style is pretty good. There are a few pages that have some beautiful images, but overall the art style is about average. However, there are mangas out there with far worse.

My favorite thing about this manga is the bounty hunter turned princess, Falis. Her character is amazing, she is humorous and kick-ass. It's refreshing to have a female character in a manga or anime that doesn't act like a 7 year old. (A very emotionally immature 7 year old that has huge boobs that is.)

I would say that the rating on the book is accurate, 13+. There's about two underwear shots, but nothing major, unlike most manga that has every other page filled with raunchy (and sometimes downright disturbing) images. There is a little bit of blood, but you find more of that in superhero movies.

Overall I would recommend this to both casual and hard-core manga/anime fans. I do enjoy the anime more however, and recommend watching it before reading the manga.

This may be the first book from the Broccoli imprint I've read; if the rest of their releases are anything like this, I'll be wanting more!

An evil scientist and his two mecca lady robots try to take over the kingdom and all but two of the royal family are destroyed. While fleeing to safety, the princess falls off a cliff and lands on a female mercenary. The shock of their bodies hitting each other causes their souls to swap, and they return to the castle to retake it with the mercenary as the new Princess Kick-Butt.

Read it! You'll love it. Things get a tad violent, but it's definitely not a gore-fest.

Plus for the kickass girl hijinks, meh for the cookie-cutter anime-style art and paint-by-numbers plot.
