One of the world's oldest unbroken spiritual traditions is that of the Bön people - the indigenous people of Tibet, whose teachings predate the arrival of Buddhism. These traditions have survived political persecution and upheaval thanks to the efforts of a handful of dedicated lamas such as Bön lineage holder Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche. The Bön healing tradition invokes The Five Warrior Syllables - "seed" sounds that bring us to the essential nature of mind and release the boundless creativity and positive qualities that are fundamental to our natural consciousness. Through the medicine of sound, practitioners learn to clear obstacles on the level of the body, the energetic and emotional dimensions of being, and the spiritual consciousness. Through this integrated book and CD learning program, Tenzin Rinpoche gives users the tools to access wisdom and compassion and use the vibration of sacred sound to cultivate the healing power within the body's subtle channels. Lama and Bön meditation master Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche is renowned for his gift of rendering ancient texts in a warm and clear way to his Western readers. With Tibetan Sound Healing, he reveals the secrets of Bön sacred syllables and invites us to join him in sound to purify the body, connect with our inherent perfection and completeness, and to awaken spiritual virtue.
Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche (བསྟན་འཛིན་དབང་རྒྱལ་ bstan 'dzin dbang rgyal; b. 1961) is a teacher (lama) of the Bön Tibetan religious tradition. He is presently based in the United States of America, where he founded the Ligmincha Institute in 1992 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, in order "to preserve the ancient teachings, transmissions and practices of the Bön Buddhist tradition."
The degree of "Geshe" is the highest academic achievement of traditional Tibetan culture, roughly equivalent to a Doctorate in Divinity; it's use in names is similar to that of the Western "Doctor." Similarly, "Rinpoche" is an honorific, meaning "Precious one," frequently bestowed on respected teachers.
Takes you where you need to be in singing bowl Tibetan Buddhism. Sound, as we know does affect us not only in what we desire but also in what we do not. The book is modern English so no worries of the pronunciation and forming the essential letters and words. Singing bowls for some need rain or canned water flowing, but why? The tone and resonance of each bowl or cymbal does effect us in ways we are sometimes not prepared.TIBETAN SOUND HEALING, prepares us in how each tonal shift affects the energy upon needs known and not known. You learn. And this is what breaths life into the path of the bodhisattva. Listen to singing bowls selections on YouTube to understand. Of the very many I try to avoid the rain, wind, stream, daze emissions. Look for what is pure. One in particular was the thick, elemental symbols engraved cymbals were gently drawn together in increasing strength such that I was mesmerized and given a broad sense of what being in the moment, the now, and becoming in the steady hum of the metals slowly dissolving into the mind. This is what healing is. Great book. Read and understand how the Holy Spirit moves among and unites us. Remove the mass of negative energy and anger that is popular today. Bring life to love. There is much to learn, teacher sound student become indistinguishable. Buddhism is not atheistic. The Gautama Buddha found explanation of the Divine, of God, as being outside our abilities in language. God is accepted as the essence of being. Sound therapy, singing bowl meditation is part of the great song of life. Life given us by God. Suffering also. Seek transformation inside these harmonics as a part of the great links of being.
This book provides detailed instructions on how to work with the five warrior sounds. The accompanying cd is really useful for helping you to learn the sounds, as well as get into the meditation. I've found that combining this with zhine practice is particularly useful, but you can also do this sound work on its own. Highly recommend for anyone interested in learning more about Dzogchen and also learning how to work with sound and energy work. The exercises in this book will help you with any kind of internal work you are engaged in.
Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche is truly the precious one who I consider my root guru after many years of spiritual practice in almost all the non-dual traditions.
After many years of practicing Dzogchen and the many more years of integrating a bit of advieta Vedanta and countless yoga practices I still continue to go back to my roots I learned from Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche
The practices in this book will greatly help and all the non-dual yoga practices such as Kriya and Kundalini Yoga and the Dzogchen version of Thogyal.
I got this used so there was no CD. I couldn’t get into the material and found it quite boring. Which is sad. I was excited to read this. Just did not resonate with me at all.
Read this book while taking a meditation course of the same name by Gabriel Rocco at the Wellness Center of Philadelphia. The book is very helpful--with a sound CD included--in learning and practing this powerful sound meditation form.
This book gives a clear teaching of some of the most mysterious and high-order spiritual beliefs and practices of the Tibetan Bön tradition of Buddhism. Buy it, read it, practice it and watch your life change in positive ways.
