They wouldn't call it betrayal if it didn't come from a friend...
For lack of a better word, Destiny's life is perfect. She met the man of her dreams her first week in college. Her grades are stellar, and she's got the lead role in the choir. But someone in her circle isn't happy for Destiny's success. And that person won't stop until she meets her demise.
Des always gets the short end of the stick. She fights with everything she has to be noticed, but she's always overlooked. Her roommate, Destiny, always seems to come out on the winning side. Things reach a head when Destiny sails by on a cloud of joy the same day Des faces the worst rejection of her life. Out for blood, Des zeroes in on her so-called best friend. Time to knock her down a peg or two.
A Praying Wife vs A Praying Woman is a spell-binding psychological thriller that will keep you up all night turning its pages.
That doggone Des was some kind of delusional. The part with the dolls and chanting had me rolling!! The lengths some people will go through to get what isn’t theirs is wild. Another great book!
This is the kind of book that’ll have you talking back to the pages and fighting back tears. Tanisha Stewart did it again—this story was good to say the least. Des annoyed me, but so did Destiny (whew, both of them had me frustrated at times). I truly felt for Chloe though, and I was so happy to see how God was able to heal her heart toward the end.
Without giving too much away, Des was a severely traumatized woman who, instead of seeking help, lashed out and hurt those around her. And as we all know—you truly reap what you sow. Destiny also faced deep trauma, but rather than working things out with her husband, she reacted out of pain without ever considering his side or feelings.
This book was full of drama in true Ms. Stewart fashion, but what I really appreciated was the Christian aspect and the message of redemption woven throughout the story.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely!
FYI: This book contains themes of violence, loss, betrayal, manipulation, and childhood abuse.
This book is about 2 women. One a praying woman and one praying, but preying!! People go through different traumas and don't know how to get past it. They also don't seek help and take it out on others or deal with it. Possibly taking other avenues such as alcohol, suicide or something else. I'm happy about the ending.
@Author Tanisha Stewart has done it again with her Christian, Thriller novel. This book follows 2 friends both named Destiny, who meet in college and their journey through college and adulthood. One of them is a naive, kind-hearted person. The other is unhinged, jealous, and dangerous. As the story unfolds you see forgiveness, mental health, family drama, and relationships play out in a chaotic but also beautiful way. I loved this book ❤️🤌🏽
This book was heavy. A thriller it was, and so much more. It spoke to the damage caused by broken homes. And our relationship with God. The need to be and feel loved. The advantage of counseling, even for Christians. The power to hear from God. The healing power of God. This is one of those books that need to be discussed by a book club. It was so craftily written that I felt the spiritual undertones while chasing the thrill. And I'm still feeling chills as I write this review. Well done, Ms. Stewart! Highly recommended.
Des was hurt in the past and put up walls that she could not see that Destiny was being a genuine friend. Her walls made her deceitful and envious. Destiny was kind and naive, because the signs were there, but she had never experienced anything like that so she kept pushing her intuition aside. Destiny felt if she was good to people they would be good to her. Although she was good natured she had a lot of growing to do even with her relationship with Malik. I love how this story took you on a journey from the time they met as college students into their adulting life.
This book kept me engaged and wasn’t the typical read! I was also very thought provoking and touched a lot of points on faith, forgiveness and friendship
I really enjoyed this story! I was totally invested in the story and would find myself sneaking to the bathroom to read a page or three! When I read the book I did not know it was a christian novel! I only realized it after I finished reading the book! I’m kinda glad I did bcuz I probably would not have read the book! The only reason I gave the book 4 stars instead of five is bcuz of the character Des! She was a mean/spiteful person from the moment we met her! Destiny may have been sheltered and naive when she got to college, but you could tell she was a great person to have as a friend! From the word “hello” Des in her mind did not like Destiny for no good reason! If Destiny had something she wanted she had no problem scheming to get it! Although Juwan in his twisted mind decide to try and kill her! Which was weird bcuz he was the person she did the less too. Besides the accident she didn’t have to really answer for anything. Why didn’t Shamar find out she lied to him in the very beginning when she told him Destiny was out with another guy! Their whole relationship is based on lies. I just feel in the end she didn’t really have to face her wrongdoings! She just got to pop up shed a couple of tears drop an apology and gallop into the sunset with what she wanted from the beginning!

Wow—this book was intense! Des’s character was truly unsettling, yet I found myself laughing at some of her dialogue. The story really highlights the importance of discernment in relationships, especially for young Christian women trying to navigate life, friendships, and love.
Destiny was a relatable and strong lead, a young Christian woman managing the challenges of college life while dealing with a roommate who battled abandonment issues, obsession, and jealousy. While I enjoyed the story, I would consider this more of a nominal Christian book. Some parts, particularly the sexual content, felt a bit too explicit for Christian fiction, and I found myself skipping a few pages because of it.
That said, I absolutely loved Destiny and Mulik’s relationship. It was a realistic portrayal of how marriage isn’t always easy—and how outside influences, especially ones not sent by God, can wreak havoc if you’re not spiritually grounded. Their bond showed growth, grace, and the power of prayer through trials.
There were moments when I felt bad for Des. As unsettling as she was, the book reminds us that many people are walking around with deep, unhealed wounds from their pasts. We truly live in a fallen world, and this book did a good job reflecting that.
Overall, I love the outcome for both characters.
I would highly recommend this book—it’s gripping and thought-provoking—but I’d caution new believers or those sensitive to mature themes to read with care.
Tanisha has done an excellent job in crafting yet another exceptional Christian-based thriller that seamlessly intertwines faith and Christianity into the storyline. The book features three main characters, each with a unique background and set of challenges. Destiny, who was raised in a faith-based household, has always worked hard and excelled in everything she does. Des, on the other hand, grew up in a single-parent household and has deep-seated issues stemming from her relationship with her father, leading her to sabotage any genuine relationship she has. Chloe experienced a traumatic incident as a teenager, which caused her to be ostracized from the church and labeled as "loose." The book explores how friendships can come to an end when jealousy and insecurity are involved and how leading someone on when you have no intention of pursuing a relationship with them can have serious repercussions. It also highlights the power of faith, love, and counseling in overcoming life's challenges.

My Sentiments:
Wow...what a read about two supposedly friends? Both of these ladies...Destiny and Des had some problems, but Des took it overboard in all that she did to her friend. The story will be quite read as the story continues on from their days when they met in college. Why was Des so determined to destroy Destiny as she lied, was deceitful with some much betrayal behind all she did? But more importantly...why didn't Destiny listen to her friends Chloe and Malik? Well, to find out this and more, you will have to pick up this good read to see how it all turns out for both of them. I was left shaking my head...that was some read!
When Destiny arrives at college she is eager to fit in and she befriends her roommate Des. The two become close, but when Destiny begins to come into her own and become the model student with a handsome boyfriend, jealousy and envy starts to simmer inside of Des.
Determined to have a better life than her friend, Des is determined to destroy everything Destiny has worked for.
When a woman is willing to risk it all to have the life of another woman, things can turn deadly.
This is a great thriller that has many lessons. Tanisha does an amazing job letting readers into the minds of these characters. There were times when I wanted to reach into the book and slap Destiny and Des…lol And that's how you know the author has done an amazing job.
This book was dramatic, emotional and suspenseful. The story is about 2 college girl who had the same first name Destiny. But to avoid any confusion one use Destiny while the other uses Des. They both meet boyfriend who became husbands. Des was a girl with a mean streak she want everything Destiny have. They were both on internship Destiny got employed Des was let go. She was unable to find other jobs so she took a secretary job at Destiny husband Malik workplace where she seduce Malik friend to get to him. The company went on work trip to Florida she make fake ID saying she is Malik,a wife to be with him . Well Malik wife found out . To get more please read it is a wonderful read. Love it. Tanisha the story is about both Destiny and Des. Love it
This book was full of drama. It followed the life of two young ladies, Destiny and Des, from college to adulthood. This story was the true example of backstabbing friends.
Des was an unstable person who always felt that life was a competition. She was a “get them before they get me type of person”. At first I felt sorry for her, but then I saw how lowdown she could be. Some of the things she did to her “friend” were treacherous!
Destiny was so naive and only saw the good in most situations. She gave people the benefit of the doubt until she got pushed too far.
This book kept my attention from beginning to the last page. There was a little bit of romance, Christian lit, and thriller all wrapped in one. It did get a little far fetched near the end, but it was the perfect book to pull me out of my reading slump!
I was skeptical at first because I did not know what to expect and have never actually read a Christian thriller before. I enjoyed how much of a fast read this was and how quickly I was able to still be drawn to the plot.
This would’ve been a good movie too! The suspense was real and the characters stayed consistent throughout the whole book. I almost couldn’t keep up with the Des and Destiny but I can see how they mirrored each other in an evil twin kind of way….
But mannnn I wanted the villain of the story to get what was coming to her. I needed that full circle moment. It would’ve been nice for her to learn her lesson!
This is your best work yet. The hatred that one can feel towards another is sad. I won't give it away, but this is one book that I will reread. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and could not put it down even when I had a headache! Thanks for allowing me to check it out.
This was my first time reading a book from this author and I have to say I throughly enjoyed the book. The power of forgiveness was everything. Forgiving doesn’t mean you have to allow sometime to remain in your life…you forgive them for yourself and your future. Good read!
A must read I’m glad of the outcome. Destiny was a praying woman but I blame her for her husband infidelity. She should not have withheld sex from him the way she did. Des was just evil from the start lying to Sharmar about Destiny just to get with him knowing Destiny liked Sharma.
That damn Des had me in a chokehold. I wanted to hands on her every time she opened her mouth because she was being vindictive to someone who didn't deserve her bs. I was mad at destiny for not seeing this chick for who she was. Des definitely found her match. Juju definitely returned the favor on her. Lol
Eh. The story was doing too much. The hate, obsession, voodoo, death scare, changed heart, perfect ending. I didn't like the protagonist or the antagonist which was the biggest issue. Chloe was okay. I did like the Christian themes and the college transition to adulthood, but this wasn't my cup of tea.
Have you ever had to put a book down so you could talk to the characters in it! I had to do this a few times. How you didn't see this Destiny? Des I know you lying? This book was slow to start, but the twist makes up for it!
I was sure about this book from title but Tanisha you been in journals…had similar events happen in my life. Glad Des survive her injuries and learn from her evil ways. Good friends are hard to find and there’s learned that in the end evil will get you nowhere.
The only complaint I have is that one of the characters who appears to be in a good spiritual place at the time uses the Lord's name in vain. 😫 Girl nooooo. Besides that I'll be reading more from the author!
Happy then sad, funny and then you are fuming! Smiling then crying! A great page tuner but exhausted with all the emotions that each character takes you through!
This book was a good read. It kept my interest until the end. I just don’t understand the need for Christian novels to always end in “happily ever after”. It truly annoys me. It’s unimaginative, boring, and predictable.
This book took me through a lot while following the characters on their coming of age journey. Some characters changed at faster rates than others, but each journey was worth reading. I found the characters interesting, even the ones I didn’t like.
I really enjoyed this read. The author did a great job setting the tone and the foundation of the characters friendship and the beginning of the drama! It just got better and better as the story went on!
What a mighty God we serve. This is my second time reading this authors books. This book had some powerful story lines. It shows the power of prayer and love.
this book served as a reminder about the importance of discernment because not everybody is your friend and not everyone has the best intentions towards you. stay prayed up and don’t give the devil a foothold
