In three seasons, The X-Files has developed into one of the most widely acclaimed series on television, reaching a weekly viewing audience of more than 10 million people. In the sequel to her first unoffical companion to the series, N.E. Genge tells the truths behind the tales: the stories of real-life alien encounters, strange events, and paranormal experiences that helped inspire the show's third season. Web site promo.
This is the second volume of the unofficial companion to the iconic TV series The X-Files, where you can find a through guide of the Third Season of the mentioned TV series, with complete guide of the episodes developed in the said season, and on each episode you'll find facts from real life related to the story presented in the episode.
Also, updated guides to the main characters and recurrent ones, but also including the new relevant characters appearing in the third season.
Third season will be totally something better, thanks to the deeper understanding with this book.
The excitement for The X-Files has never disappeared and this awesome continuation of the first volume in this reference books is the proof of it.
The Unofficial X-Files Companion II is another X-Files book I recently uncovered after a few decades. It was a fun enough read and in-depth guide to Season 3 of The X-Files, which is the best show ever!
This isn't a storybook, but rather each chapter is for one episode, which makes sense. Each chapter briefly describes the episode, then delves into the real-life happenings that may or may not have inspired that episode. It has always been really interesting to me how so much of The X-Files is based on reality, or some twisted form of it. Chris Carter, the creator of the show, has famously said, "It's only as scary as it is believable." That may not be an exact quote, but close enough!
Some of really wacky conspiracy stuff started to lose my interest, but what I really liked were the trivia questions. Author Ngaire E. Genge did a great job coming up with interesting questions that really tested me! Admittedly, there are some episodes where I really shined (e.g."Jose Chung's From Outer Space", "War of the Coprophages") and some that I could not recall any details of AT ALL (e.g. "Nisei", "731").
Interspersed with the episodic information is information about actors David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, and their respective characters, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, as well as information about the real-life FBI.
So this was a fun enough read, as I said, but it sure did take me a long time because it's not one big story, so it's not a page-turner. But I would encourage all X-Philes, if they haven't already, to read the relevant chapter right before or after watching a desired Season 3 episode!
