Embittered single dad Duke has sworn off love forever.
Unfortunately, his daughter just met the mother of her dreams.
Millie:
I have it all. I work my dream job doing animal-assisted therapy, I live with the four best friends in history, and I own an actual pair of Louboutins. I should be content. Right?
Except, ever since an adorable toddler begged me to be her momma, I want more, and an insta-family is my only chance at motherhood. Unfortunately, her absurdly hot NFL star dad isn’t quite as enthusiastic about me as she is. In fact, if I didn’t know better, I’d think he was avoiding me.
At least until his nanny leaves abruptly mid season. Now, he’s knocking down my door, pleading with me to help watch the little girl I’ve already fallen in love with.
And the more he knocks, the more I’m in danger of falling for him, too.
Duke:
Never get married. Seriously, people, don’t do it.
If you never get married, your influencer wife can’t abandon you and your baby during the middle of your cancer treatments. It doesn’t matter that you kick cancer’s butt or come back to the NFL stronger than ever.
Love is for suckers.
Which is why meeting the intriguing, far too intuitive Millie Campbell is so frustrating. Isn’t it enough that she’s drop dead gorgeous? Does she also have to be the mother of my daughter’s dreams?
Love is a brutal sport, and I have no intention of playing it ever again. But if I do get back in the game, Millie needs to know one thing:

Wow, this book totally hit me in the feels—laughs, tears, swooning, you name it! Even though it covers some tough topics, it never feels too heavy thanks to the humor and charming characters.
I absolutely loved Duke and what a good dad he was to Lottie, even when he wasn’t sure if he was doing the right thing. Millie is such a rock, always sensible and so quick to love both Duke and the adorable little Lottie, who, by the way, is an absolute charmer! Seriously, Lottie’s got everyone wrapped around her tiny finger.

Cute story that I was hoping to love but ending up liking.
I think my biggest issue was the characters would be having a conversation and in the middle of the conversation it went from them talking to someone giving us a synopsis of what the conversation was about and then it would switch back to the conversation. I struggled with that a lot because, to me, it took away my ability to connect with the characters. I want to know the thoughts, feelings, facial expressions of the characters during the hard topics and deep conversations, not the he said, she said, they said.
There were also conversations that I would have loved to hear but was only told the characters had a conversation. It took the emotion out of the book and had me skimming through to the end.
- Single dad - Small town - Sweet romance - Fertility issues rep
I don't have words to describe how sweet this book is. I read it so fast and had so much fun while I was reading.
I love the single dad trope, which is one of my favorites. Lottie is the cutest thing I've ever seen, and I loved seeing her dynamic with Millie, how she deals with Lottie's separation anxiety.
I fell in love with the characters, both the main ones and the secondary ones, and would love to read their stories. This is the first book I've read by Kate Watson, and I'm sure I'll read the others. And I have to say that I'm so excited about the next book in the series.
This book is a closed-door romance, with the perfect amount of cute and fun moments. Please read this book.
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Embittered single dad Duke has sworn off love forever. Unfortunately, his daughter just met the mother of her dreams.
🏈~Characters~🏈 (Millie Jane "Miwwie") FMC I really liked her.
(Duke) MMC he was such a good dad I really liked him, the Bluey references helped.
(Lottie) DUKE'S DAUGHTER omg she is so cute I can't even! I loved her!
(Jane) MILLIE'S BEST FRIEND still really liked her.
(Tripp) DUKE'S BEST FRIEND still really liked him.
(Ashley Jane "Ash") MILLIE'S FRIEND I liked her I'm excited for her story in 'Don't go faking my heart'
(Rusty) DUKE'S OTHER FRIEND I liked him he was really sweet to Little Lottie.
(Lucy Jane "Lou") MILLIE'S FRIEND I liked her I want to know more about her.
(Parker Jane) MILLIE'S FRIEND This girl she just annoyed me idk why she did.
(Sonny) PARKER'S EX you can tell he still really likes Parker. He was also annoying.
(Bri) MILLIE'S SISTER she was ok.
(Greg) BRI'S HUSBAND he was so freaking annoying he was so emotional crying (for a good reason I guess it was just annoying) and he was also really dumb.
(Jason) MILLIE'S BROTHER he was also really annoying always asking Millie for help with everything.
(Carlie) LOTTIE'S MOM she was ok towards the end, but how could she leave such a sweet baby girl?
(Benoit) CARLIE'S BOYFRIEND he was boring.
🍗~Quotes~🍗 I stopped in my tracks. Lottie is sitting on the counter with a mixing bowl in her lap, stirring while Millie is searing stakes in a cast iron skillet on the stove. They're wearing identical outfits: gold tutus with teal t-shirts, and they have their hair up in matching buns on top of their heads. They're singing along to "wannabe," but Lottie is saying if you want to be my mother and every remnant of a wall inside of me cracks and crumples to the ground at the sight.
If you haven't heard of the TV show "Bluey," you're missing out. yes it's a kid's show about a cartoon dog family, but it always makes me want to be a better dad with only minimal shame that I can't compare to Bandit heeler, the undisputed best dad on TV.
"Ohh," Lottie says like Bluey or Bingo would, "you're in love." Millie responds in that same Australian accent that is way too good. "If you ask me to smoochy kiss him," she says referring to one of Lottie's favorite episodes "you're going to have to give me all your chocolate." I laugh even though I definitely wouldn't mind if Lottie asked Millie to smoochy kiss me.
She's breathtaking. I can't take my eyes off of her. And as if she wasn't alluring enough, the way she holds my daughter is like she's been handed a gift. A gift she knows the full worth of. It the most attractive thing I've ever seen.
👜~What I liked~👜 The writing style, Slobber monster, Lottie she is SO CUTE!, Turkey leg scene, Bluey Halloween costumes, Matching shirts, seeing Lottie grow and overcome her struggles, Mommy and me Louis Vuitton bags, The dolls Lottie gets at the American girl doll store, The Bluey references ahhh I love bluey, the ending, the epilogue
🏟️~What I disliked~🏟️ Not really anything I can think of.
🐐~Content/Trigger Warnings~🐐 Parental abandonment, separation anxiety, periods mentioned, infertility, chronic illness (PCOS), Cancer (past), Therapy, death of loved one, death of child due to a congenital heart defect (past), Greif, Duke says he doesn't believe In S-x before marriage so he wants to marry Millie ASAP (because he is a Christian), Greg thinks Millie is saying to have S-x with Bri when she says to love her, Millie and Duke sleep in the same bed/couch (nothing happens), Blood, Miscarriage mentioned, Medical problems (Migraine, yest infection), Pregnancy, difficulties with pregnancy (Spotting, heavy bleeding, Incompetent cervix) Medical treatment (Radiation therapy, Chemo therapy, cerclage (sewing the cervix closed until thirty-seven weeks), Progesterone shots, ultrasound, Heart surgery mentioned)
This is my first Kate Watson book and really enjoyed this sweet love story. Duke was a sweet and sexy single dad, who was a pro football player and cancer survivor. Millie was a child therapist who fell in love with sweet little Lottie, Duke’s daughter. To see these 3 characters come together and form a family was so heartwarming. There were some serious issues addressed, especially with Millie’s family as well as Duke’s ex-wife, and I thought the author did a good job of showing the reality of the issues and how to draw healthy boundaries. I also appreciated the way she handled Duke’s prior cancer diagnosis and treatment. My wonderful husband is a stage 4 cancer survivor, so I am highly sensitive to characters that are in that situation. I have also struggled with infertility in the past, and appreciated how that sensitive topic was handled. A very satisfying read that I highly recommend!
“But you need to know I’m not interested in games. I’m not looking to win you or drop you.” I lower my head, feeling a bit chastened, until his finger raises my chin and I’m peering into his eyes. “But if I did get in the game again? You should know that I play for keeps.”
Oh, mylanta, this little gem gave me all the feels! This book touches on some sensitive, hard topics that @katewatsonbooks wrote so beautifully and with such tender care, while also letting the romance shine through. I still don’t know how she did it! It’s truly an amazing, beautiful, touching story!!
If there was ever a male character that truly understood what makes a woman beautiful, it’s Duke!! (Especially from one scene in particular, IYKYK!) He was so dreamy, caring, protective, romantic, loving, and flirty! He was just all kinds of goodness!
I loved Millie! She was a sweetheart that I rooted for from book one. I couldn’t wait to see the rest of her story. She was everything kind and good. She loved with all her heart and her relationship with Lottie was precious. Their scenes brought tears to my eyes several times.
Duke and Millie were adorable! I loved their flirting!!! Just give me all the flirting! I loved how they started out slightly as enemies, but it didn’t take long for the sparks to fly and their chemistry to ignite! I laughed, awed and cried throughout the whole book! There were several tender scenes between them and with Lottie, that my heart just became mush.
As always, I love The Janes! They are the best gals ever! And Sonny!! I absolutely loved him, and can’t wait to see more of him! Throw in some cute llamas, and the book is complete!
I just can’t brag about this book enough. You just need to read it, like now!!

It started pretty well and cute, but more you learn about characters and the story, more you understand how everything is wrong. Both characters have some past trauma but instead of trying to solve them first, just decided to get this insta-family in replacement. Which especially feels weird considering that fmc is therapist and I would guess should see that she’s replacing her trauma with mmc’s kid. Mmc’s 3-4 year old kid is having mental health issues (for two years as I understood) but mmc only once got courage to speak with specialist (fmc) who didn’t take them (cuz she’s already invested in them), which is good but looks like he didn’t look for other specialists anymore, which is really bad (for his kid). These issues come from abandonment of her mother, mmc’s ex who cheated on him so he forced her to give up parental rights and limited their communication to zero. Cheating is really bad and unforgivable, but should the kid struggle because of the mistakes of the parents? Well, at least why didn’t he find a specialist from the beginning? I can’t imagine how it could be worse than let his kid believe in some imaginary monsters worsening her fears and issues. And wasn’t he emotionally cheating on his wife the whole of their marriage? I just can’t understand how you can pretend to love someone for 5! years. Ofc there was guilt but zero actions. So yeah, the more story was progressed, more it felt wrong, more weird moments appeared. Sometimes characters would act childish, some moments were kinda cringy. It made harder to connect with characters and story until there’s no meaning to continue.
I knew from the epilogue in Strawberry Fields For Never that Millie, Duke, and Lottie’s story was going to be good, and it did not disappoint. I absolutely loved it!
It gave me ALL the feels— super sweet, swoony, and funny, but it also had a lot of depth and tenderness as it deals with some heavy themes.
The romance between Millie and Duke was so well done, and the bond between Millie and 3 year old Lottie stole my heart! All three characters felt so real and and made me genuinely care about them.
I loved this story from beginning to end! The epilogue is one of my favorites ever—one that had me shedding happy tears for such a beautiful conclusion.
I adore this series and cannot wait for book three!
⚠️ Content Warning: This book deals with themes of loss, abandonment, anxiety, infertility, imperfect parenting, pregnancy complications, and chronic illness.
3.5 stars rounded down ... I normally give 3 stars to books I finish but skim a lot, books I'm not invested in. That was not the case here, but ... I have to say there were a lot of things I didn't enjoy about this book that stressed me out.
First, things I liked! Found family, both Duke/Millie/Lottie and Millie and her friends! Famous football player + she doesn't know who he is or care about his fame! The animals!
The main thing that stressed me out was the little girl and her constant 5-alarm tantrums! I feel for her situation but good Lord her tantrums gave me secondhand stress! (Also the speech impediment written into her speech drove me a little nuts. I'm sorry, I like kids, I feel so mean saying all of this! I'm happy Lottie got her happy ending with "Momma Millie" in the end!!)
Also I felt like a lot of the conflict between the main characters was unnecessary and a bit immature - and unnecessarily stressful. Also, Duke's treatment of Carlie! That whole situation was understandable but yikes, also gave me a lot of negative feelings.
Another thing I loved was that the mom wasn't the "bad guy" that she seemed to be! Poor thing was doing the best she could - however, their whole marriage started off badly with her seemingly manipulating him to get married while drunk (?). They should never have stayed married in the first place. That didn't make sense on Duke's part.
I loved so many things about this book, the way the MCs challenged each other, how they were both committed to loving Lottie (the MMC’s little girl), how they helped each other heal and become stronger/better versions of themselves and let’s not forget the amazing supportive friends they have. Favorite line, “But if I did get in the game again? You should know that I play for keeps,” 🫠
Kate’s a queen at humorous & heartfelt! I fell in love with Duke and Millie and little Lottie. But my heart was definitely screaming a few times—particularly with Millie’s family… I was absolutely furious with how they treated her. 😡 Partly because it hit close. But it was a beautiful blend of funny & deep.
Single dad x nanny (also a therapist), southern charm, best friend shenanigans, football, and a baby llama made for a fun read!
Content: mention of being in both love and lust (which I didn’t love); make outs; mild innuendo
It was so cute🥹🩷 I loved how Lottie was asking for Millie to be her mommy🥲 it was so sweet!! And the character development was great🩷 I loved all the banter as well and how Duke took care of Millie🫶🏼 also the kitchen scene with Lottie and her (iykyk) 😉
tropes: 🏈 single dad 🏈 football player MMC 🏈 therapist FMC 🏈 “can you be my new mommy?” 🏈 infertility rep 🏈 temporary nanny 🏈 sworn off love
CONTENT: - kisses only (closed door) - no language
🏈QUOTES:
“His lips twitch further upward, revealing dimples. Because the man isn't content with perfection. He has a dimple in his chin and in his cheeks, and my knees tremble just looking at them. Also because of the ice cold soda.”
“Kids have a way of throwing chili at you right after you've showered and mopped.”
"Caught ogling the quarterback, huh?"
“She's breathtaking I can't take my eyes off her. And as if she weren't alluring enough, the way she holds my daughter is like she's been handed a gift. A gift she knows the full worth of. It's the most attractive thing I've ever seen.”
I adored Millie and Lottie so much in the first book and their story did not disappoint. This book does touch on some deep themes—it made me cry, laugh, and swoon as Millie wore down Duke’s walls and how all three of them experienced so much healing and growth on their road to becoming a family.
TW: Infertility, Miscarriage, Child Loss (past), Abandonment (past), & Reconciliation
Okay, y'all, I'm pretty sure Kate Watson has moved into the "one of my favorite authors" category. Strawberry Fields for Never was so good that I applied for the ARC team for Baby Llama Drama and I LOVED THIS ONE JUST AS MUCH. So much so, that I just went ahead and bought myself a paperback copy before I even finished the epilogue.
This book deals with a lot of heavy topics but it doesn't *feel* like a heavy book. The humor and delightful characters in it somehow balance out the hard topics. That is author magic right there!
Things I loved: -The meet cute! It was hilarious. -The characters in this story are FABULOUS. Duke is initially bitter and resentful in the wake of his ex-wife up and leaving him & Lottie. But as he spends time with Millie in a forced proximity situation, he realizes how good she is for him! Millie is the sweetest. I loved how much she loved Lottie and came to love Duke as well. She's patient and understanding about all that they've been dealt. OH MY GOSH, Lottie! She is the cutest little 3 year old who has had to deal with SO MUCH TRAUMA in her short little life but with Millie's love and presence is learning some emotional regulation skills. -The parenting tips and reminders (for me, as the reader)-- totally related to "You are a good parent having a hard time! She is a good kid having a time!" -The setting on Sugar Maple Farms, especially the time with the therapy llapacas. -When Millie finally set boundaries with her family. You go girl! -The airport scene 😍 -Lottie's birthday party!!!
I can't wait to get Parker's book next and dive back into this world that I love!
Quotes I Loved: 👩🏻🦰 I don't let myself full-on ugly cry (and you've never seen ugly crying until you've seen a redhead ugly cry), but I get close. --> so relatable, lol 🏈 "But you need to know I'm not interested in games. I'm not looking to win you or drop you....But if I did get in the game again? You should know that I play for keeps." ❤️ "You're wearing *my* shirt and matching *my* daughter. It's perfect, Millie." You're perfect. ... Lottie rests her head on my other shoulder, and with my arms around both of them, I know without a shadow of a doubt that I am in love with Millie Campbell. 🦙 Maybe Lottie doesn't need me to solve her problems. Maybe she needs me to see that she actually *has* problems. Maybe she needs to know I accept and love her, no matter how she behaves. Maybe she needs to know that her outbursts could never, ever drive me away.
This book picks up shortly after “Strawberry Fields for Never,” and I have no qualms about that! While this book focuses mainly on the interactions between pro football player, Duke, and child therapist, Millie, there is a third character that cannot and shouldn’t be ignored, Lottie!
Lottie is Duke’s young daughter who has had a lot of volatile situations happen in her young life causing some pretty intense separation anxiety! Her mom ran off while her dad was battling cancer and her dad’s job takes him away often, talk about rough! During SFFN, on a trip down south to visit her bestie, Millie’s path crossed with Lottie and an attachment formed between the two- their connection spurred some big feelings/emotions that didn’t end up sitting to well with her dad!
Duke, all around great guy, pro athlete, well-intentioned single dad meets his match when he spills a Diet Coke all over her! While apologies were made, the woman (Millie) incidentally compared to him to a rival which caused major tension! Although their start was less than desirable, they worked through it and were able to come to a place of mutual understanding and admiration! They weren’t as different as they thought at first and it makes their chemistry even stronger if you ask me! Tugs at your heartstrings, so if you cry easy, have your tissues ready!
Millie, fiery red-head, eye for fashion on the dime, emotional compartmentalized, therapist longs for things she shouldn’t which turns her world upside down! The vulnerability that this woman has coupled with bad relationships she’s been in are tough, so when she allows herself to be her true self around Duke it’s amazing! Did I mention she has used llamas for helping with her patients?! Super cute!
This book gave me so many feels and I loved it! Romcoms are exactly that romantic comedies, but the ones that have next level depth are something else entirely! This series is definitely meant to be read in order as hintings for future books are dropped, but I love knowing I found a new series to add to my collection and its only book 2! Yay!

“But if I did get in the game again? You should know that I play for keeps.”
My Opinion: No, I'm not crying, you are. I was fine holding back the tears throughout the book, but I couldn't hold back at the end. This is my first single dad romance and I really like the narrative. Just like the first book, all the characters (main and secondary) have so much depth without being eoverwalming, the chemistry is on point. Please check TW! The subjects are delicate and can be heavy for some people, but the book wasn't heavy (it's not light either, but you can read it without being traumatized or disturbed). So, if you are sensitive to these matters, please be aware. I love how the main characters are relatable with their feelings, how they are mature enough to say things truthfully without any of the silliness common in romance books and I loved how the tension and feelings build naturally so we can't help but care and feel for them. . The writing is very engaging and I can't wait to read the next books in the series.
4.5 stars This is a sweet romance that deals with some difficult themes. It is not a fluffy type romance because of those heavier topics but the overall feel of the story is not dark. Millie and Duke have their share of problems but they are pretty good at working them out. I loved how they worked together to handle Lottie's serious separation anxiety disorder. He is at a loss and she subtly coaches him through new things to help. Lottie's love of Millie is amazing. A child of three probably shouldn't be able to hold onto the desire to be with a person that for an extended length of time when they didn't spend that much time together to begin with but she is holding tight. Their first meeting is in the previous book. But at the beginning of this one, Lottie is still crying for a person that her father has never even met. Of course they do meet and it is a fun meet-cute. I cheered for them through the whole book. The airport scene was crazy. Funny, but crazy. It had me laughing. And the big birthday surprise was really fun too.
Potential Triggers: Grief, abandonment, divorce, anxiety, toxic or at least unhealthy family relationships, infertility, life changing illness Sex: passionate kissing Language: no Violence: no *I received a complimentary ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
"She's breathtaking. I can't take my eyes off her. And as if she weren't alluring enough, the way she holds my daughter is like she's been handed a gift. A gift she knows the full worth of. It's the most attractive thing I've ever seen."
Baby Llama Drama
This book made me feel seen, made me cry, made me laugh, and made me swoon! I loved Millie’s and Duke’s story! Lottie is so adorable! I loved her character, and the cute things she says and does and how she pronounces Millie's name. I love how much Millie and Lottie bond. Also, the proposal at the end made me cry happy tears and is probably one of my favorite proposals ever! Definitely recommend this sweet story!
I listened to the audio and thought it was well done by the narrators.
Favorite Parts: PCOS rep, single dad, Lottie, Llama part, helping Lottie, meet cute, football player, the whole ending and proposal
Content Guide: Language: None-use of word "sexy" multiple times Romance Content: Closed-door: innuendos, passionate kissing, “spooning” (clothed), characters sleep in the same bed (clothed) Other: infertility (moderate), PCOS rep (moderate), miscarriage (moderate), abandonment/divorce (moderate), cancer (moderate), emotional trauma/separation anxiety (moderate), talk of bodily functions multiple times, toxic family relationships
Kate is quickly becoming a fav Indie author!! I am low-key obsessed with her Sugar Maple, small town series!
In this book we get to know more about child psychologist Millie and single, pro-football player dad, Tripp.
Brought together over a shared love and concern for Tripp’s daughter Lottie who is suffering from Separation Anxiety Disorder in the wake of her mother’s abandonment.
Heartwarming and full of all the feels, this book will have you swooning and tearing up over the tough and resilient Lottie and the way she brings Tripp and Millie together.
This books also has AMAZING therapy rep , infertility rep (both him and her) and PCOS disability rep (her).
I can’t recommend this book and series enough, especially for fans of authors like Sarah Adams. I voluntarily read and reviewed an early copy and all opinions are my own.
It started out as a sweet story. How lucky are Duke and Lottie to have Millie come into their lives?
But I lost interest once learning the truth about why Carlie leaves. Duke paints himself as the victim for half of the book and it’s just not true. It also didn’t set well with me that Duke was trying to replace Lottie’s mother with Millie.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
DNF/Skimmed: I got to 50%, a little confused by where the story was at that point, skipped a bunch then skimmed through to the end. Turned out to be more drama and not enough llama for me.
This author is new to me and though it is part of a series I didn’t feel like I was missing out so it stands alone. Millie solves everyone’s problems because of her occupation. And it’s expected. Which is annoying. What isn’t expected is the pro football player Duke entering her life.
Duke is a big deal. Except to Millie. His daughter knows Millie and adores her. And so it begins.
I loved Duke. He acknowledged his failures and opened his life to change. His vulnerability was endearing and I was smitten. His daughter was hilarious and threw tantrums. So pretty much like a normal little kid. 😂
The book deals with loss, cancer, infertility and how those things affect the characters. When it’s not dealing with hard things there were so many funny laughable moments. A few innuendos that honestly felt out of pocket, but otherwise what I would consider a clean read!
Make room for a hurting girl, good friends, a swoony football player, and a baby llama. Millie and Duke have to keep their heart in the game and learn how to handle some drama.
This story, y’all, this story!! It had so much good in it, I can’t recommend it highly enough. I can’t tell you what I loved more: the real conversations, the strong friendships, the reality of dealing with a child with separation anxiety, the way we got to see forgiveness played out, the wicked sharp banter or the super swoony love story. The whole thing was written as real as possible with all its messiness, it’s fun, it’s brokenness and it’s love over all. Families and finding the best ways to love and support them were the central theme here. I was so pleased with how everything happened, leaving nothing unanswered or discussed. Adding adorable animals to the mixture just gave me the cherry on top of this fabulous book sundae. If you love romance, please go get a copy of this book. It’s all the things you love about love without all the things you don’t. I promise it will be a great TBR add.
I received a complimentary ARC of this story from the author via BookFunnel. I am not required by anyone to write a positive review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
Baby Llamadrama is a sweet and easy read, perfect for finishing in one sitting thanks to its quick pace and light writing style. The main characters are charming, and their relationship, although not ideal, felt genuine and enjoyable to follow.
The story touches on serious issues such as infertility, divorce, and abortion, which I appreciated. However, these subjects were approached in a very surface-level way. I was hoping for more emotional depth, especially regarding the main character’s struggle with infertility and the pain caused by the divorce. These experiences could have been explored with more sensitivity and depth.
While the book had a strong concept and meaningful themes, it ultimately felt underdeveloped in its emotional layers. For that reason, I would give it 2 out of 5 stars. Still, I see potential in Kate Watson’s writing and would be open to reading another one of her books in the future, hoping for a deeper and more mature exploration of similar themes
The best part about the book was Lottie, Llamas and goats. Millie and Duke were a fine couple just there was not much chemistry and in romance we value chemistry!!!! Also never in a book I felt bad for the ex- but here I did....ik she left and was wrong there but she wasn't given love her entire marriage and was treated as a responsibility by the ML,Duke...All this is addressed later on and it's shown how Duke and Carlie understand each other and become accomplice for their child. The FL,Millie was matured one and handled everything perfectly. This book is more about growth, forgiveness and moving forward in life than it is about romance. The side characters specially the FLs friends were amazing.
4,5/5 ⭐️ but rounded to 5 Okay, this was such a cute and fun read! I loved the inclusion of mental health advocacy, trauma healing, healthy communication, and physical health awareness (as both MCs had their own health issues)!! This book was a fun time, a definite easy read after a book slump or reeling back from an epic fantasy series. Anyone who loves Sarah Adams' books is definitely going to enjoy this. It has all the wholesome elements: - cute kids that tie the MCs relationship together, - llamas, - quotes about mental well-being that balm your soul, - an easy kind of love that's not too fast in pulling you in - bookboyfriends that will make your partners want to step up! I'm barely holding my eyes open, just to write this review, so I'll probably update it soon!
You got me, Kate Watson. I ate this book up. Devoured it. And I cried. I don't know why I continue to be surprised that cutesy, illustrated covers can contain such emotional depth, but here we are.
I loved this sweet romance. Small town, single dad, forced proximity, fertility issues, banter, football/celebrity romance, a really adorable little girl...this had it all and I adored it.
If you enjoy clean, emotionally developed contemporary romances, this is one you should definitely check out!
