“Affection” is the story of Ainslee and Daniel.
Second chance romance between a couple who never gave up on each other. The hero abandons the heroine to protect her- without telling her. She’s heartbroken, and waits for him until she gives up hope. They both find other people, she has a child, he has many women, until circumstances lead to the hero coercing his way into her life.
Very non climactic and boring. They reunite without fanfare, the hero accepts his apologies and excuses, they have sex, OM conveniently passes away, some mafia drama and happy ending.

I usually eat up anything by Eva, but something felt off with this one. I couldn’t get into it, and I tried.
I felt a disconnect and I can’t even pinpoint what it was, but it was just kind of messy to start off and honestly a little confusing. 🫤

Me ha gustado, creo que es lo más suave que he leído de Eva.
La historia se centra en Daniel y Ainslee, cuya relación se vio truncada en el pasado.
El decidió alejarse de ella para no arrastrarla a su mundo sin pensar si eso era lo que ella quería..
El tiempo paso y ella hizo su vida, pero ese primer amor siempre estuvo ahí letente en su corazón, la huella que Daniel dejó en ella siempre se mantuvo..
El tiempo no perdona y un enemigo cercano a el, regresa tomando venganza y es ahí donde ella regresa a su vida nuevamente después de 12 largos años..

Did not enjoy this one
Where to start? I'll start with Daniel who I still really liked from the previous books. That was about all I liked about this one.
💥Spoilers💥 The book was short and rushed. From the get go, Ainsley is drugged and kidnapped by her first love who she hasn't seen in 12 years and she's just cool with it. Not pissed off, doesn't try to get away, no screaming and yelling at him, no normal reactions at all for someone being in that situation. Instead, they have dinner and then go up to bed and have sex. Really???
💥 Spoilers💥 As for Ainsley, I couldn't stand her. She was a weak character who came off like some kind of puritan. When she's kidnapped again, by Daniels mob boss uncle, she doesn't have any of the normal reactions when Daniel shows up. She doesn't try to headbutt the Uncle when he's using her as a human shield and feeling her up, doesn't struggle to get away from him to try to give Daniel a clear shot at him, nada, zip, nothing. Then her "I was in shock reaction" was pitiful when he saved her. She doesn't go to him for a hug, for comfort and ends up for 24hrs making him think he lost her. It was melodramatic garbage.
As for Daniel, who is written as a smart guy and mob boss also, he makes the boneheaded mistake of taking Ainsley to London where is Uncle usually is, after not being able to find said uncle and his associates, knowing he's after Ainsley. Meanwhile, Daniels had her and her family in his house in Scotland the entire time to protect her until he could take out his Uncle. It was out of character and forced.
By the last 2 chapters and 2 epilogues, I was so bored and over Ainsley and the book in general, that I skimmed through those just checking out the dialogue. This was a terrible ending to an otherwise good series (first 3 books are worth reading) this one, don't bother.

This is the final installment in the Love isn't What it Seems series. Daniel family is in the mafia. He loves Ainslee but to protect and keep save from the evil of his family he had broke both their hearts and walk. She was broken and tried to wait for him after he left. She tried to move on from the hurt into the arms of another man name Callen and the two even had a son together. But he owed a debt and gambled Ainslee and his son away to same people that Daniel walked away from years ago to save her. Daniel stepped in to save her from the evil clutches of his uncle. Daniel is not the same man that Ainslee knew twelve years ago he have done things and had embrace ruthless lifestyle of mafia. He had more callous, brutal and cruel. He vows to protect and keep her safe at all cost even from himself. Affection has all the feels, healing, forgiveness, drama, anger, pain, danger, heartbreak, passion and love. The story is written exceptionally with wonderful characters and great storyline.

Volver a Eva Winners siempre se siente como regresar a terreno conocido: mafiosos, hombres obsesivos, posesivos, peligrosos y ese romance oscuro que tantas veces me ha hecho devorar sus historias.
Por eso tenía muchas expectativas con Afecto.
La premisa me parece buenísima. Tenemos a Daniel, un hombre nacido dentro de la mafia que nunca quiso pertenecer a ese mundo. Cuando era joven se enamoró profundamente de Ainslee, pero precisamente por saber lo peligroso que podía ser su familia decidió alejarse de ella para protegerla.
Incluso llegó a marcharse y buscar otra vida en el ejército, pero algunas familias no te dejan escapar tan fácilmente. Cuando regresa, descubre que el peligro vuelve a rodear a Ainslee y que ahora no solo tiene que protegerla a ella, sino también a su madre y a su hijo.
Y aquí tenemos uno de esos protagonistas de Eva que aman de una manera bastante… intensa. 😂
Daniel puede ser frío, peligroso y tener un pasado bastante oscuro, pero cuando se trata de Ainslee no hay negociación: quiere protegerla a cualquier precio.
Ainslee, por su parte, nunca dejó de amarlo, aunque su vida terminó llevándola por caminos bastante complicados. Incluso terminó vinculada a un hombre que definitivamente no se ganó ni el premio al peor esposo del año. 😮💨
Me gustó especialmente que la historia no se centrara únicamente en el romance, sino también en la amenaza que rodea a Daniel y su familia, así como en la relación que empieza a construir con el hijo de Ainslee. Esa parte me pareció especialmente bonita porque vemos cómo, poco a poco, él empieza a ocupar un lugar que va mucho más allá de proteger a Ainslee.
Ahora bien…
¿Es mi libro favorito de Eva Winners? No.
Y creo que precisamente porque conozco su trabajo y sé de lo que es capaz, esta historia no terminó de producirme ese “NO PUEDO SOLTAR ESTE LIBRO” que tantas veces he sentido con sus mafiosos.
La pluma sigue teniendo ese estilo que caracteriza a Eva: personajes intensos, peligro, mafia, obsesión y romance oscuro. La historia tiene potencial y una premisa que me llamaba muchísimo la atención, pero en esta ocasión me costó conectar y sentir el mismo enganche que esperaba.
Quizá simplemente no era mi historia en este momento.
Y eso también pasa con los autores favoritos: puedes amar muchísimo algunas de sus historias y que otras simplemente no consigan atraparte igual. 🖤
¿Lo recomendaría? Sí, especialmente si ya disfrutas de Eva Winners y de los romances de mafia. Pero si me preguntan por mis favoritos de ella… este definitivamente no desplaza a los que ya tengo en mi altar de mafiosos. 😂

The storyline was ok. I liked Daniel but still felt his reasoning to stay away was stupid. Relationship is talking with your partner and making a decision together, even if it’s to end the relationship. When someone makes the decision for both parties without discussion under the umbrella “doing it to protect you” that’s being selfish not selfless. You don’t want the person to get hurt but you hurt them by not telling them the real reason why you need to leave. I couldn’t really get into story because I still didn’t like ainslee. The author tries to portray her as sweet and innocent but she’s the person who had in affair with Callen and thought it was fine to show up at church when liberty’s life was being destroyed. During that period she never apologize and use the excuse “I didn’t know. Only shows up to ask about baptism “ really?!? You have an affair with callen for three months which means you pregnant less than three months and you want to go to church (same church where the wedding is) to set up a baptism even though your cousin has a chapel on his estate. Even reading about ainslee in Eve’s story still didn’t redeem her. She still came off selfish and not one of the author’s better heroine.

Después de tres libros de esta serie, Afecto fue una sorpresa, porque regresamos a la Eva Winners que conocí con sus historias de mafia… y me encantó.
No imaginaba que Daniel y Ainslee serían la pareja que cerraría la serie, y mucho menos que su reencuentro ocurriría de la manera en que sucede. Su historia es una segunda oportunidad, pero no de esas en las que dos desconocidos tienen que volver a enamorarse: desde el primer libro sabemos que para Ainslee el corazón solo se entrega una vez, y el suyo siempre le perteneció a Daniel.
Sí, doce años son demasiados y en algún momento dan ganas de decirle a Daniel: "muchacho, hablar también era una opción" 😂. Pero entendí sus motivos y, sobre todo, me gustó la manera en que ambos vuelven a construir su relación.
La parte de mafia le dio ese toque de acción y peligro que extrañaba de Eva. La historia avanza con buen ritmo y nunca sentí que faltara conexión entre los protagonistas.
Y luego está el hijo de Ainslee. 🥹 Daniel no solo la recupera a ella; también decide formar una familia con ambos. La relación que construye con el niño me encantó, especialmente porque desde el principio se nota que el pequeño necesitaba mucho más cariño del que recibía de su propio padre. Y sí… gracias a Dios que lo sacaron de circulación porque paciencia tenemos, pero tampoco somos santas. 😂

Nunca pensé que volvería a leer a la autora sin embargo leerla es un placer por que sus historias aunque tratan del mundo de la mafia nunca nos decepcionan por que siempre sus personajes tienen un pasado doloroso sin embargo tratan de cambiar a pesar del mundo oscuro en el que se desenvuelven
En esta historia vemos a Daniel que nunca superó la historia que tuvo con ainslee hace doce años cuando él tuvo que alejarse pero él le prometió a ella que volvería pero jamás lo hizo.. mientras que ainslee nunca lo olvidó pero siguió con su vida con una herida en su alma y corazón por que la persona que más amaba la dejó sin dar respuesta
Pero bien dice el dicho que lo que está atado a nosotros vuelve de maneras inesperadas.. así que el destino vuelve a reunirlos pero esta vez Daniel hará lo que haga falta para tenerla en su vida a pesar del mundo que lo rodea.
Es una historia que te conmueve y te sorprende un montón y con una dosis alta de emoción y sobre todo amor

Affection is the 4th book in the Love Isn't What It Seems series and in this one we follow a second chance romance between Daniel and Ainsley.
Daniel and Ainslee fell in love when they were younger, but he had to let her go due to his mafia ties and to keep her safe from his cousin and uncle. 12 years later he gets his second chance with her after her boyfriend bets her in a card game. Now Daniel is going to take her and her son to his mansion in Scotland to keep them safe and make sure she is his forever.
While I did enjoy this book, I did feel like it dragged on a little bit. I did feel their connection and was happy with the cute epilogues in the end.

Shane East was fantastic, as always. He brought the passion and obsession Daniel to life in the best way. Zara's accent was perfection. I would definitely recommend the audio.

Hace doce años El la alejo, sin carta, sin despedida, sin ningún aviso, así sin más como se descartar lo que no vamos a usar.
Eso mismo sintió Ainslee, pero lejos estaba de que fuera cierto.
Daniel vivía en un mundo de terror, matanza orquestado siempre para sobrevivir y ganar más poder.
Si El hubiera cumplido lo que prometió, a ella le hubiese pasado de todo!!
En cambio siempre la cuido entre las sombras,dejó que sea feliz, o eso pensaba El!!
Mientras ella vivía como podía su día a día hasta que sin buscarlo queda embarazada,de un hombre que estaba comprometido, vaya error…

This is the fourth story in a series, although it’s a standalone love story between Daniel en Aynslee, I did miss some background information. References are made to people and situations from the previous books. It's a well written book, but I'm not really sure what to think of the main characters. They don't really appeal to me, Daniel and Aynslee had a short-lived romance 12 years ago but he had to leave her because he wanted to leave his family and protect her from his family. She eventually does become entangled in his family, and Daniel has no choice to claim Ainslee . There is a bit too much going on with the guilt of both. Daniel doesn't think he's good enough for Aynslee, and Aynlsee feels guilty towards the father of her child and his ex-fiancée. It’s a bit cliche, but an entertaining story.

Aquí se nos cuenta la historia de Daniel y Ainslee dos personajes que tienen una relación en su juventud y que termina prematuramente debido a que Daniel considera peligroso que su bella amada tenga relación con el mundo criminal al que él pertenece.
Pasan 12 largos años donde cada uno sigue su vida sin poderse olvidarse el uno del otro. La actual pareja de Ainslee decide ponerla justo en la mira de la mafia y es cuando Daniel reaparece en su vida para proteger y recuperar lo que siente siempre le ha pertenecido el corazón de su hermosa amada
Amor, misterio, venganza y mucha acción es lo que promete esta historia y no defrauda.

Es el primer libro que leo de la serie y aunque desconozco las demás historias fue fácil de entender la cronología de los hechos y el mundo mafioso creado por Eva.
Fue una lectura que comparte el patrón de este género: chico malo y roto por un pasado o legado oscuro- chica noble que es absorbida por este mundo debido a la atracción de la pareja, donde el amor se pone a prueba con enemigos que amenazan y se refuerza con situaciones de dudosa moral que muestran los claroscuros del protagonista.
En general fue una lectura sencilla, pero no logré conectar mucho con el amor de los personajes y sentí que el peligro que caracteriza a estas historias se sintió como un espejismo haciéndose un poco más palpable en el último tramo de la historia.

Affection by Eva Winners is book 4 in the Love Isn't What It Seems Series. This is the story of Ainslee and Daniel. I have read the previous books which did add to my enjoyment of this one, but I did think it can be a standalone book. Ainslee and Daniel where young and in love but then Daniel pull away from her and then just left. Now about 12 years later Ainslee had tried to move on with Callen, even having a child. But Callen got into gambling debts and put up Ainslee as Collateral. Callen is in debit to Daniel's Uncle. We learn that Daniel is in the Mafia and expected to terrible things that he didn't want to subject Ainslee too. But now his Uncle has his sites on Ainslee so now he has not choice but to protect her and to win her back. Enjoyed their story.

Tenía tiempo sin leer a la autora, y volver a leerla me recordó porque es una de mis escritoras favoritas. Aunque la historia de Daniel y Ainslee, creo que es la más suave de todas las novelas que he leído de ella, la disfruté mucho. Daniel es uno de esos personajes que es inevitable amar, así como algunos de los personajes secundarios que también lo acompañan, sin dejar a un lado a su eterno amor Ainslee.
La autora como siempre tiene una pluma ligera y que atrapa de principio a fin, con una trama que nos habla de superación, amor incondicional, traición, lucha por el poder, secretos, venganza y mucho peligro.
Este es el cuarto libro de la serie “El amor no es lo que parece” (cada libro se puede leer independiente).

This is the 4th installment of the author's Love Isn't What It Seems series, each book can be read as a standalone. This was an amazing read!! I absolutely adored reading this story about Daniel and Ainslee's second chance at love. This book has it all! There is obviously a second chance at love, angst, heartbreak, even some darker themes such as mafia. I will simply say do yourself the favor of reading this book!! Read the entire series they will all grab a hold of you and won't let go for a very long time!!

Daniel's family is in the mafia, and this doesn't always end well for those in love. So to keep his love, Ainslee, safe, he pushes her away and breaks her heart. But after she is gambled away, he finds himself back in her life, and he doesn't plan on leaving now.
The writing was great and there wasn't a point in the story that I felt bored or like it was lacking. I didn't think the reason Daniel stayed away was good enough to warrant everything that happened because of it. I would've liked to see the author flesh that out more and really give us a heart breaking reason for it to justify his actions and the consequences that followed.

Woah buddy this one kicks off with a bang. I mean, you know your husband has a gambling problem but to find out he gambled away you and your son? well..not quite sure how one is supposed to react. The person that has come to collect? turns out its her first true love. The one that swore to never leave, but he did and he never came back. Now her and her son are in danger and Daniel Carrington swears to let nothing happen to them.
This was such a great listen!!! You have all of the usual plot twists and turns, very Eva style. I ate it up and left no crumbs.

Son historias que se pueden leer super rápido, cada protagonistas sufre de alguna pérdida, lucha contra ese hombre posesivo, pero al final le gusta, hay una situación que los separa pero al final logran seguir juntos y ser felices.
Este empezó super bien que me gusto como se iba desarrollando la situación y se mostraban protagonistas fuertes, pero hubo un momento donde las cosas se pusieron como lentas, monótonas y era lo mismo, me espere mucho de la acción, de como se resolvía todo pero lo mantuvo bien lineal.
De igual manera fue una buena experiencia leer estos libros, gracias por envolverme en estas historias.

In this last installment of Eva Winners' Love Isn't What It Seems series, a few loose ends are tied up, forgiveness comes to those who deserve it, and love well fought for wins in the end. Once again, Winners delivers a fine read with wonderful characters, a great plot and most of all, an excellent delivery.

another amazing story from this author. This is a second chance dark mafia romance. Daniel fell for Ainslee, but didn't want to bring her into his world. But when a selfish fiance bets her in a poker game, Daniel will do everything to get her back. Filled with hurt, heartbreak, suspense, violence, murder, betrayal, secrets, chemistry, passion, love and family. This has intriguing characters and is an incredible read.

This is the fourth book in the series but can be read as a standalone. It’s a second chance mafia romance which checks all the boxes to make it an enjoyable read. It’s emotional with angst and all the feels . When Ainslee comes back in Daniel life after a decade and he avails this chance to bring her back in his life and claim her. The story was captivating, even though I have not read any of the previous books in the series I was still able to enjoy this story . This story can be read as a standalone.
