After leaving the only family she's ever had on the Marigold, Willa has made a new start on a remote island carving out her own stake in the future of the Narrows. She's found an unexpected business partner in Koy and whether she likes it or not, they are suited in more ways than one. Together they plan to turn Jeval into the farthest reaching port before the waters of the Unnamed Sea. But when the Saltblood ships docking in their newly minted harbor start bringing unsettling news from Bastian that could mean trouble for the Narrows, Willa's determination to walk a path apart from her brother West will be tested. The more serious the situation gets, the more she's forced to rely on Koy, and she discovers that he's more than an opportunity to create her own destiny. He also just might be the safest harbor she's ever known.

That was BS! I mean it was good but that ending is killing me!
The World of the Narrows series, particularly 'Drift: Willa & Koy: A Narrows Novella' by Adrienne Young, brought me back into the vivid world of the Narrows. As a fan of Adrienne's writing style, I was already inclined to enjoy this novella. Willa and Koy's relationship intrigued me the most, and I found myself wanting more from their story. The novella's ending left me hanging with so many unanswered questions—I really hope there's a full-length novel planned to delve deeper into what was happening. I got a taste and now I WANT MORE!!
That cliffhanger left me wanting resolution, not more mysteries! ugh
Ofcourse I had to rate it as a novella because its just 73 pages but they were so fun. I live going back to the narrows and I love Adriennes writing style so I was pretty much bound to like this.
Willa and koy definitely deserved their own story. Though, I wanted more I still think it's fine because it was a good story. Bingeable, enjoyable and loveable!
The best part about this book was that we got hints that there would be more stories in this world. I literally would read anything that Adrienne writes because it's so addictive in a good way. ~~~ Willa and koy were the most unexpected couple but the ones I want to read about the most.
Never thought I enjoyed this moreee than Saint, Fable and Namesake 🙈🙈🙈 Maybe because this is a short book I didn't find myself getting bored. Yg pasti juga karena conversations antara Koy dan Willa disini lebih sering dibandingkan pasangan2 di buku lainnya Adrienne Young yg ku harap sering ditingkatkan untuk buku2nya nanti 🤧🤧🤧 Aku salfok sama Koy disini karena dia beda banget woyyy 🥴🥴 (in a good way) soalnya waktu di Fable dan Namesake dia nyebelin bgt anjir 😭😭😭😭 Terus aku dejavu pas baca ini soalnya kek ingat pasangan2 sebelumnya di series ini cuma disini tuh aku lebih puas wkwkwk.
Drift is a short novella of Willa's and Koy's story. And, honestly, it feels like the start of something big.
After reading the Fable duology, I could see that Adrienne Young was not done with Koy, or else, why bring him back in the second book at all? And in this one, she brings Willa and him together, working hard to create a life at Jeval. And sure, the romance was kind of instant, and the novella doesn't allow the story to breathe and develop properly, but the ending makes it seem like the first character in a novel to come.
Nevertheless, it was nice being back at the Narrows again.
"Never underestimate the power of a good story Willa. It can sell the most worthless piece of junk to any fool."
An interesting story within the world of the Narrows a year after Willa left The Marigold, but gave way too much plot and not enough story. Definitely need to be a full length novel with what was happening. Especially with that ending.
“There was a part of me that needed someone to take care of. But worse than that, there was also a part that needed someone to take care of me” I thoroughly enjoyed returning to the Narrows, and particularly a growing Jeval, from Willa’s POV. The writing was gritty and harrowing but refined and poetic all at once—just what I’ve come to expect from Adrienne Young. The new character, Ailee, made a great addition. My favorite part was the invisible string of affection and tension tying Willa and Koy together. And I’m hoping that ending means that we can expect more of the Narrows in the future ⚓️⚒️🌊🏝️🍻
i definitely wish this was a full length novel. i wanted to see more of willa and koy and the way they were handling things in their port, it was interesting! they were also lowkey cute together so a full length book with a splash of romance would've been perfect. didn't expect to see coen in this though lol. i needed more time in this story.
I’m so glad we’re still getting more of this universe. I didn’t imagine when I picked up Fable years ago that I would be waiting on story number 6 of the universe :,)
(I was also so wildly intrigued by the possibility of Willa and Koy’s adventures. Glad we get to see it!)
“There was part of me that needed someone to take care of. But worse than that, there was also a part that needed someone to take care of me.”
Let me start this off by saying that I was thrilled to be back in the world of the Narrows, even if for only 77 pages.
Things I loved: ⛵️ Willa - oh, how I missed her! “Not a good idea, Willa” was the theme here, and, as usual, I loved her tenacity! ⛵️ Koy - I started to feel for him in this. What he says to Willa… Ah! ⛵️Raef (Koy’s brother) - Can we get him a book?! “Hey, I tried. Didn’t I try?” ⛵️ The setting and all of the usual madness that is Jeval (hello, murder mystery)
All that being said, I’m not really sure how to rate this one. I felt like enough happened to keep me engaged, but I think I expected this to be finished, and the ending left me feeling anything but. Is it a teaser for a full-length novel to come? I sure hope so. If not, that’s a huge bummer. I think their story deserves the love of a full-length novel like what we saw with The Last Legacy. Putting it into the universe! More Willa and Koy, please!
I settled on 4 stars because I love the Narrows, I love them, and I need them back. ♥️
I am a fan of the Narrows series, and when I saw an advance copy of the audiobook for this novella was available, I decided to jump on it. It took my about half way into the very short audiobook to get into it, but once I did I really enjoyed it. I liked the direction Young is taking with Willa and Koy establishing themselves as powerhouses in Javal. The one big downside is that I think this really should have been a complete novel. Too many big events occurred with zero resolution to work well as a novella for me personally. I will still read anything set in this world, but this one left me wanting a bit more.
I should have known better. I should have known that literally anything that Adrienne Young writes has the power to make me cry. I also hopes this means we're getting more books in this world because this opened up a whole new realm of plots and possibilities.
Also, I was unsure if I'd like Willa and Koy, but they just fit so easy, so effortlessly together that I can't help but love them. I would like an entire novel dedicated to their soft, sweet moments please and thank you.
Okay wow this is so much more than Willa’s story. I am STRESSED, this left me wanting and needing so much more!!! Adrienne delivered with the narrows drama in this one. Come on, Adrienne, tell us when the next book is…..
Almost loved this more than the original duology? Yes, yes I did. But you need to read that duology before you read this, it will make the romance all the sweeter. The sexual tension between the two MCs of this novella was palpable in the duology, and I was crushing a lil bit on Koy, not gonna lie. He wore the villain-turned-hero narrative so well. And Willa is such a kickbutt heroine, standing up for herself and what’s right. Love her so much. Just made their romance one I 100% root for, even while I wish I could jump in and steal Koy away.
Forget Neverland, I’m running away to The Narrows! I have a feeling that Adrienne is keeping secrets again because this was a total tease, and worth the agony of waiting for what will undoubtedly come next in this world that none of us are ready to leave. I also realized that I can’t see Saint’s name without tearing up… the hold he has on my heart is just as strong as when I first met him in Fable!
It was such a cute, short read that left me wanting more! I'll never get tired of reading about the characters in this world and this book hinted at a potential new book/plot. I hope I'm right because Adrienne is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors!
