An art history: mid Chosun dynasty period seen through four artists
There's a second book which deals with another four painters late period.

Painting has been seen as an high form of art/thinking for Chosun dynasty Yangban group.
Ironically, the occupation of painter was looked down as a mere craft. Interesting to see the inner conflicts of some Yangban who has talents for painting and yearning for drawing, but still try to stay away from it not to be viewed as a lowly painter.
