Loved this! R.G Angel has become one of my favorites.
We met Killian back in book 2 of this series and what we got from him was that he was searching for his missing brother and finally got the answer to his location thanks to the MMC from that book.
I remember seeing the fan art of the two MCs for this book on R.G's insta and felt nothing but excitement for their story. I knew she would give us something incredible and at the same time fun/easy read.
Finn (Killian's) younger brother is found, and he has befriended our FMC Iris. Iris has ASD and her inner monologue/thoughts was such a joy to read. I loved her, she was not your typical heroine, no damsel in distress. Not someone who fawns over new and shiny things. She was vocal and intuitive. I truly enjoyed reading her POV. Also, I learned a ton of facts thanks to her (which I will be using in future conversations).
''You've captured the most elusive and blackened heart''
Killian could be considered your typical morally grey/antihero MMC BUT he of course has layers within him. You could see how much he was hurt by his brothers ''disappearance''. He protected him throughout their childhood against their father and basically raised him...but it was never enough as he was always going to be villain in someone’s story.
The side plot reveal was something I saw coming but the reveal after the initial one was shocking.
Finn annoyed me lol you'll see what I mean by his actions and how he reacts to situations. I'm not shocked by the ending of his story, but I am shocked that he saw it as the only way to be happy? Freedom was all that mattered and when given, you should embrace it and let go but darkness exists in good too no matter how much you want to blame others.
Overall, I really liked this. I enjoyed the pace, the chemistry between the two MCs. I loved how Killian just understood Iris. He was patient with her when he knew she needed it, he never judges or belittled her. There is a particular scene about a certain food that will make you laugh out loud.
Oh let’s not forget another character that needs to be mentioned: Mr.Snuggles.
I am kind of hoping we get a story for Killian's close friend, but time will tell if we do! For now, we know that the next book is going to be about Jiro (side character from ''Her Ruthless Warrior).
We also did get a really amazing cameo from Luca/Cassie/Jude from her ''Broken Prince'' book...so if you haven't read it, I suggest you do as that story is amazing too. Loved seeing them and how wonderful the two worlds collided.
I can’t believe what happened in this one! Everything was going great…UNTIL, this part:
“Jenna was one of the most prolific girls in my sex club, The Rabbit Hole. She was the wickedest of them all, enjoying the darkest, filthiest fantasies of the rich and powerful men visiting us, and while she was making a fortune with us, she was also adamant that I would one day make her my official girl just because I had once indulged a very powerful, extremely rich Sheik by participating in his fantasy of having sex with Jenna as he instructed me. He had wanted to control me—the powerful mafia boss—and I had been happy to indulge. His illusion of control made me laugh during the three-hour sexually depraved experience. He thought he had been in charge, forgetting that I was the one who agreed to take part; I was the one who was indulging and following his direction because I wanted to.”
What. The. FUCKKK?!??
WHHHYYYYYY?!??
Why shove this into the story? The hero wasn’t a manho until this point and to put this in here is just GROSS.
I hate sex clubs in romance but this only made everything 1000x more horrible. NOW the h will always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS have to deal with some scuzzzzyyy whore who had HER MAN’s Penis inside her. Will the hero ever have to meet or face a man who had his penis inside his woman? NO?! Ok, well why does the h have to be assaulted by the presence of a woman he fucked?! (I am glad the hero doesn’t have to deal with that, I want HIS penis to be the only penis that ever goes inside the h, BUT the heroine should NEVER EVER have to deal with a whore the hero fucked!)
NO, thank you!!! If the hero is gonna pimp whores, I don’t want his penis anywhere near them.
This could have been a GREAT romance but it was DESTROYED by one paragraph of stupidity.
🤍 Virgin heroine 🤍 No manwhore 🤍 Age gap ( 21 l 35 ) 🤍 Touch her and you'll die 🤍 Mafia 🤍 OTT possessive hero 🤍 heroine with ASD 🤍 Safe: no OW/OM or cheating
everything was going fine until the hero decided to share a story about how he spent 3 hours fucking one of the girls that works for him because a rich guy had a fantasy of watching them (he owns a sex club) and how this girl is since then trying to seduce him for a second round but he refuses because he only did it that time for the money, this was so unexpected it doesn't fit his character at all, while the heroine is a virgin and he will never have to meet an ex-lover of hers that girl works for him he will always see her around, this is why i avoid the "virgin h with manho H" trope, but he wasn't even giving off the manwhore vibe before that info that's why it threw me off bad.
i read reviews that there is no ow drama so this was probably just him oversharing, but this really bothered me so i will dnf for now, maybe i will come back to finish this book later, i was really enjoying it especially the heroine who seems to be a very unique character, but for now i am turned off by the hero, I wish authors realized that it is possible to make it clear that the hero is experienced without giving us such a vivid picture of him with another woman, especially one who works for him.
Killian Doyle, the head of the Irish mafia, coerces Iris into staying with him to keep his younger brother, Iris' friend, in line. He says he'll let her go once his brother completes his atonement for abandoning his family, but now that he has her, all bets are off. Killian is completely captivated with her - from her curvy body to her super sexy brain. Iris is also knocked off kilter by the passionate, fiery man. And for a girl that doesn't usually like to be touched, she's confused by all the feelings and urges he’s arousing in her.
Fan-freaking-tastic! Definitely one of my faves of 2023. If you're a fan of super sweet, opposite attracts stories - this will certainly be the book for you as well ❤️. I have to say up front, I am a complete sucker for stories with a heroine who's on the autism spectrum. As a mom of two girls on the spectrum I love reading about neuro-divergent women finding someone who appreciates them in their uniqueness and Iris definitely finds that in Killian. As a "collector" and admirer of rarities, Killian cherishes Iris for the person she is. It was awesome how Killian was all-in almost from the start. They are fantastic together and have tons of chemistry. Great storyline that is well written and moved quickly - I sat down and read this book in one sitting. I loved how most of the conflict in the story was external to the relationship - not bogged down with angst for the sake of angst. Killian is super protective of her, but she was of him as well. You walk away feeling like they both made the other into better versions of themselves. Such a fantastic, feel-good read!
Reread. Killian killian killian. He is still the most amazing of all the book boyfriends I have ever read. He is the top of the top. His understanding. His compassion. His patience. Killian Doyle should be cloned so every woman can have one.
yeah-- were gunna need to protect Killian at absolutely all costs forever and ever... from the first 2 books i thought this was gunna go a wholeeeeee different way--- he is a freakin marshmellow with extra fluff.. hes amazing... poor guy... just so much to deal with and so calm cool and collected w Iris...
this is such a soul mate love that grows with care and watering like a plant.. the way she opens up to him... the way he makes the greatest efforts ever..
i honestly did not expect this...
Iris. Oh my sweet smart stupendous iris. As a special education teacher I want to state how on point of a job she did w this characterization of ASD. It was so well done and executed that I truly felt it to my bones I could never give enough credit for this authors ability to kindly and Succinctly explore the quirks and genius behind her behaviors and traits. Beautiful. Just absolutely heart warming. Killian was like no other. The New York itinerary guys…I mean…. 💜
wow... this was my favorite of the 3 books and its saying so much because after reading book 1 with sexy lovable soul shattering Hoka, and then book 2 with Sandro the magnificient yet a bit lost and found I absolutely loved him the best-- and again.. i ADOREEEEEEE hoka and Sandro.... like deep rooted love ...but killian. Killian tore down the walls of dk self doubt and deep rooted guilt and built up a fortress of love and strength and queendom for our thriving flower
im so happy i stumbled upon this series and author.. i read all 3 books in 2 days... yeah.. happy easter LOLOL
Ok soooooooo I’m curious if mateo in the other series book 3 will be the same... i cannottttttt wait to hop on the lap of Luca, Dom, and Matteo after this...can’t waittttttttt
Have I finished the book? No I haven't Did I just rate it 5 stars just at 32%? Yes I did Am I stopping reading the book? h*** no I'm not Am I changing my rating later? no way
So why the 5 stars at this point?? How about the amazing writing the smart dialog the understanding of characters The intricate representation The fact that on one page I'm laughing and at the next I'm crying
This book set the benchmark for all dark romance characters and plotlines
Any less than that, and it's really one star
I may come back to write a full review but for now I'm going to enjoy the book
While i absolutely loooooved book 1 and 2, this one didn't floor me as much as i thought it would.
I somehow felt completely disconnected from the story and i have no idea why.
Because i liked Killian. And I liked Iris.
They just didn't click for me together, u know...
Also, their romance just happened too... easily?
They met, they fell for one another and boom. That's it. That part was kinda boring tbh.
This book didn't have that heart-wrenching, mind-blowing angst between the h and H like the other books had.
Like i said, too easy.
I need my couple to face a ton of obstacles before they finally see that they belong together.
And we did't have it here.
Also, Iris was completely defined by her ASD and yet despite that, she was very accommodating to Killian's lifestyle and the fact he killed her mother (i know she was a bitch, but still). Not once did she have a moment of hesitation or fear.
And I found that very odd tbh.
There was also a fragment where Killian mentioned how he fucked one of his strippers because some rich sheik paid him a ton of money for that. That stripper was still his worker. And that gross me out more than i thought it would.
I don't like manwhores or knowing they fucked around.
Not in my romance books.
Same like i hate sex clubs.
Eew.
All in all, it was decent but not my fave.
But I still llove Angel's writing and will deffo continue reading her books.
People seem to have like this one the most in the series and I, once again, will be in minority and will say that book 1, and 2 were absolutely amazing.
»I took you away, I blackmailed you, but have you stopped even for a minute to think that maybe the villain would love you so much more than the so-called prince ever could? That maybe the villain would treat you better?«

❥ 𝑰𝒓𝒊𝒔 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ She is amazing. I really liked her and the way her brain worked. She is a logical thinker and this was pretty interesting.
❥ 𝑲𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏 ⋆✮ This man was whipped from the first second. He is a ruthless bastard but towards Iris he is nothing but kind.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 Another great and dark mafia romance in this series. This book was thrilling and entertaining from the first page. I had a lot of fun while reading it and I enjoyed it. I like the fact that all books in this series are about different couples and different mafias all over the USA. As a reader you can connect the dots between the books and it‘s always nice to meet other characters again. Iris and Killian are a great couple. They work well together and Killian treats Iris really well. Where he is chaotic and impulsive she things logically and is more quiet. I really liked them together. All in all this was a good mafia book with an interesting plot, likeable characters and a solid world building.

"Never be ashamed of how brightly you shine, because the more you shine, the more shadow you cast, and it scares lesser people. They want to smother it,but I will pave the world in blood to prevent it. You keep on shining bright, little bird.."
"Different is not a bad thing. Different has the potential to be wonderful. ...being different makes you irreplaceable. "

Killian's brother has turned traitor and disappeared. Finally tracking him down he sees that there's a female that he's close too, to get his brother back on track Killian takes Iris with him. But his brother's issues with Killian run much deeper than he thought abd there's another traitor within the ranks
Iris is a waitress with ASD, she's friends with her neighbour and comfortable with him. When his brother shows up Iris makes the choice to go with him to save Finn's life. Little did she know that Killian was exactly what she needed.
*******
Idk how I feel about this tbh, it was a pretty quick and easy read. Some mafia drama which I thought the H should've figured out way before he did but still not a bad read. I just felt the way Killian dealt with Iris, empowering her it did but it just didn't fit for someone with ASD? It fit for someone with low self esteem maybe? That "you can do it" mentality but one would assume that someone with autism wouldn't automatically be able to overcome their discomfort so easily??? Idk I've never met anyone with autism so what do I know Anyways, my first read by this author
No cheating H had some experience but it's not rubbed in our faces h was a virgin
Her Merciless Protector is the 3rd in the Syndicate Series and what an amazing read it was. This book centres on Killian and Iris. Iris is on the spectrum and befriends Finn, Killian’s brother. However Finn, having run from his responsibilities needed a little persuasion to perform some tasks so Killian decided to kidnap Iris. Iris, not wanting Killian to harm Finn, agrees to be taken and this starts a very interesting relationship between Iris and Killian.
Honestly, I have so much love for these two that I can’t even put into words. Killian is so supportive and so kind to Iris where others have belittled her, made her feel less, sheltered her. Killian saw her and made her his Queen. Not someone to stand behind him but to stand beside him. I don’t even think Killian knew how much he needed Iris too. They are two halves of a whole and I love them.
If you’re looking for a mafia slow burn with no 3rd act break up, all the tension and giddiness and spice, then look no further. This is for you.
Without a doubt this is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 read for me. This whole series has been and all 3 books will be going on my re-read shelf. 100% recommendation this.
My favourite excerpt:
“Iris, tell me what you want.”
I took another step closer, and she blinked rapidly, her eyes finally focusing on me. “Breathe and use your words.”
“I need to go home.” Her voice was so feeble that if I’d been a better man, I’d feel bad.
“How long do you need?” I asked, keeping my eyes locked with hers.
“Twenty-seven minutes and thirty-two seconds from the moment I unlock the door.” I looked at my watch and sighed, giving in, suspecting it would not be the last time I would do that with her.
“Fine, but you better use this time wisely.”
“Thank you!” I looked at her as she got into action to finish closing the café.
Twenty-seven minutes and thirty-two seconds. I couldn’t help but smile. Who would say something like that? She was absolutely out of the ordinary, and she interested me in ways no one ever did.
5/5 ⭐ I loved every second of this book 😍😍😍 It has me right from the dedication 😉 The way Killian was to Iris so sweet and yet so encouraging so she can get over her limits.
"You keep on shining bright, little bird. I’m not a lesser man, I can handle it and the pride I feel at seeing you shine so much brighter than I ever could , is bottomless.”
SWOON ❤️
The way they both really saw each other from the get to go, it's like they were made for each other 🥺🥺🥺
"If only she knew how much I believed in fate and how, when she looked at me with acute interest, part of me believed she’d been sent for me.”
"My queen is supposed to shine, thrive, and be all-powerful. She needs to remember that she is the strongest piece of the set. There will not be a king without his queen.”
And let but not least
“I’m not everyone, remember? I’m Killian"

Top de la serie 🥇Her Merciless Protector (KILLIAN TE AMO) 🥈Her Heartless Saviour 🥉Her Ruthless Warrior
“Her Merciless Protector” de R.G.
3.75☆ this was so sweet. i loved iris and killian so much. i just felt the writing style was a little off but i enjoyed the romance nonetheless. i really want aiden’s book! i loved him🩷
‘“To the—” I cleared my throat. “Lil Floofs Rescue and get Mr. Snuggles.” Lord, just take me now.’ 🤣
‘I looked down at my chest, feeling as if the pride at her compliment had expanded it by three sizes.’
‘“I do,” she said just as I reached the door. I turned around, expecting to find her still engrossed in her own world, but she had her headphones down again and was looking at me. “You do what?” “You said to me, when you brought me Mr. Snuggles, that no one cared for Killian Doyle, the man, but I do.” I felt an unfamiliar warmth in my chest, something I wanted to feel repeatedly. “I know you do, sweetheart.” “And being the crime boss is not the only thing you’re good at. You’re good at making me feel seen. Powerful and cherished. You’re good at making me feel like… well, me.” I looked down and smiled. “It’s easy to do because…” I stopped talking when I looked back up and she was back into her world, her headphones once again secured over her ears. “It’s because…because I’m starting to feel for you,” I whispered.’
‘I had to admit that knowing she was studying my culture made me happier and prouder than it should have.’
‘“I don’t like that. I would not do that.” “No, sweetheart, you wouldn’t. I’d kill a man who ever dared touch what’s mine.”’
‘“You won’t get angry? People usually do.” “I’m not people. I’m Killian, and I could never be angry with you.”’
‘“I’m no one’s.” No one wants the strange girl. He wrapped his other arm around me, transforming his hold into a hug, and kissed the top of my head. “You’re wrong. You’ve captured the most elusive and blackened heart.”’
‘Bringing my hand up, I traced the design with my fingertips. His skin was immediately covered with goosebumps under my touch as his breathing turned ragged once more.’
‘His face softened, as his eyes turned tender. “Why do you keep doing that to me, Iris? How did you manage to cage me whole?”’
‘“How can one not become addicted to you?” I asked softly after he buttoned my straps back into place.’
‘Iris belonged in the light, not behind me but beside me.’
‘He kissed my forehead. “I’m getting so lost in you”’
‘“I won’t last much longer," he all but whimpered against my neck, his movements becoming more erratic and uncontrolled.’🧎♀️🧎♀️🧎♀️
‘“Say it again, please.” He locked eyes with me. “Just once more.” “I love you, Killian.” “Again.” His voice was so low it sounded more like a guttural noise. “I love you.” “Again.” “I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you, Killian Doyle.” “You’re my fucking life,” he replied before crashing his mouth on mine, devouring me again, and turning me into a puddle of want and need.’🥰🥰🫶
‘“You did; you reached me when you showed me who I was and when I allowed myself to fall for you. You wrapped me in your arms, in your understanding, in your infinite patience, and when you kissed me and made love to me, it was like the word love had been invented for this moment alone, as if any sonnet and any romance were written for you and me.”’

I thoroughly enjoyed how different this book is and so beautifully written. Using a character with ASD could have been a disaster, except this author either has firsthand knowledge or has completed exceptional research on the topic. Her portrayal of Iris is exceptional; I love Iris, her absolute honesty and all of her uniqueness make her a character I will remember for a long time to come. The most obvious lesson learned in this book, hopefully, is to accept people for who they are, for their own quirks and interests, and not to shy away or even worse, ridicule them and make them feel less than they should—something I believe that is criminal.
The fact that Killian is the boss of the Irish mafia in Boston isn’t an issue for either of them as he sees how wonderful Iris is straight away. Yes, he is still ruthless in his work but with Iris he is only ruthless in his devotion and protection. Likewise, she sees Killian for who he is on the surface but at a much deeper level too, therefore understands him and supports him as well. Together they discover so much about themselves it is awe inspiring.
This book is fast-paced and flows extremely well because of the solid storyline. I really enjoy the touches of humour throughout the story that gave me a few chuckles. Great descriptions depicting the characters, scenes and emotions paint vivid images as the story progresses.
This series is terrific and this story is outstanding!

Love love loved this book, I could barely put it down once I got going! Unlike your typical dark, mafia romance the main male character (Killian) barely had to get to know Iris before becoming a total cinnamon roll for her. Yes, he does technically kidnap her to force his brother's compliance, but Iris quickly moves past all that unpleasantness. The book had plenty of suspense, action, and lots of steam to keep the reader engaged from start to finish! With all that, my absolute favorite part of this book was twofold- first, the representation of a person with ASD (Iris) was beautifully written. Iris was endearing, and strong in her own right and I could just see all the research that went into doing justice to a neurodivergent character. With all that, the relationship between Killian and Iris was also very well written- Killian's ability to understand what she needed (and didn't- like the coddling his brother did for her) flowed so well through the book. I could see the love RG Angel put into this book and cannot wait to read what she brings next!
I received an ARC of this book from the author and am leaving my honest review.
Her Merciless Protector by R.G. Angel is the story of Killian and Iris. This touching, captivating, slow-burn, steamy story was beautifully written and touched on a condition that is largely misunderstood. The author presented this in a lovely, humorous, and realistic way!!
Killian is angry with his brother for running….and decides to exact his revenge by stealing the most important thing to him….his girl….Iris. But, Iris is sooooooo much more than anything he bargained for.
The innocence, light-heartedness, and sweet manner in which the author approaches this, makes you think they’ve had some experience in the area. It is covered so beautifully….you can’t help but totally adore Iris!! I did think that some of that ‘feeling’ was lost about half-way through the story. But, I loved Killian who, while a cold-blooded leader, had a gentle approach with her….and her total devotion to what she loves….like a feral cat. Adored this story so much!!!! Excellent!!!!
