I have just finished reading the fourth in series of the incredibly original and new character Conner Reed, penned by a new author Quentin Black, so where do I begin!

Conner Reed is/was a Royal Marine who has serious issues with "The Bad People" of this world, the way he deals with" The Baddies", is verging on psychotic, however, don't let that fool you, Conner is an extremely intelligent and astute young man, with the blackest sensor of humour you will probably ever read. The way Conner deals with his adversary's is remarkably refreshing, he brings a new meaning to the word violence and i guarantee you will wince throughout all four books, for example , you would think biting a hole in someone’s face would be enough, but after being crossed by the same person again, Conner then places a machete to the base of the thugs spine and uses a hammer to sever it, as i mentioned, Conner really doesn't like "The Bad People".

The first Novel begins with a revenge assault on an MP on behalf of his dead best friends young sister, the MP assaults her, so Conner being Conner and being an ex-sniper, shoots his security detail then wounds the MP only to pop him into the boot of his own car and sets the boot on fire while slowly closing the boot shut. Its at this point he meets the leader of the Chameleon Project Bruce McQuillan, a UK Government black ops team and of which Conner becomes part of their highly secret unit.

To add a massive twist to the story, Conner's family are the most revered and notorious "Ryder Family", who rule the Leeds and west Yorkshire underground. Technically working for the government and the mob shouldn't work but it does seamlessly.

These books are well written, well researched and the most realistic and refreshing ex-marine style books I/you'll ever read.

Thank you Mr Black, now please hurry up and complete book five.

This for me was the most thrilling of the Connor Reed series!
It’s a high pace read with action all over place making it a fast page turner to find out what’s going to happen next.
If you have read any of the previous in the series, this will not let you down!

It’s great to see the character development with each book. I feel each characters part within the storyline suck you further in to the book.
It leaves many doors open for future books on them alone.

A must buy for Xmas since covids killed any chance of holiday reads.

Was hoping for more

Been a fan of these books since the first and enjoyed them all. This one starts off well and really gets going in the middle, however the ending seemed weak
One minute everything is hanging in the balance, the next everything is sorted out, Connor makes some deals and the whole thing is concluded
Was a strange way to end a book, that until that point had been quite enthralling

Four Books In

Although this is a good stand alone book the series really needs to be read in sequence to gain a better understanding of the characters and story lines.
This one is equally as good as the first three and although Connor Reed is a bit of a ‘superman’ each of the books is a good read.

I am waiting for the next one

Enjoyed this one, laying on a beach it meant I got burnt as I forgotten over, have to say some of his details on the crime gangs of the North were sparingly accurate, keep going mate and don't forget to slip in a gay salads !excuse the pun)

Great series lots of action. I like the several threads going on at a time.
The series is probably not suited to an American audience as it has some good sex scenes and is set in England and Europe.
