“ When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you. ”
Black operations agent Connor Reed finds respite from a hellacious schedule to return to his home city.
Reed, a leader within his own outlaw family, delights in an opportunity to punish a thug preying on the vulnerable.
However, with his target high within a rival criminal organisation, can Reed exact retribution without dragging his relatives into an unnecessary and bloody war.
Quentin Black is a former Royal Marine corporal with a decade of service in the Corps. This includes an operational tour of Afghanistan and an advisory mission in Iraq.
Black is the author of the most politically incorrect, unhinged, and entertaining anti-hero in modern fiction, Connor Reed.
I’ve read every one of the Connor Reed series from Quentin Black and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each one! An Outlaws Reprieve doesn’t disappoint other than it’s too short! I like the way Connor Reeds character has developed and this one doesn’t touch at all on Connors black ops career, rather it builds more of a picture of the Ryder family and their growing empire and relationships. It literally is action all the way through. As said earlier my only small critique would be it really is too short and I’d like it to be longer and maybe go into more detail of Connors family members.
Initially wondered where this story was going, but thankfully it did. As with the last few in the series the story is based on the crime family, rather than the chameleon project, in fact the project doesn't get a look in on this one Some excellent twists to the story, one well sign posted from the beginning, but one that doesn't appear until the last 4 or 5 pages of the book and is a true surprise. Cannot see this one being dropped quickly from future storylines
Phenomenal. This is the first book I've read in years. Slightly fell out of love with reading and struggled to find anything that held my attention. Read this novella in two (short) sittings, I was absolutely hooked. Definitely going to read the entire Connor Reed series, such a captivating character. If you think Punisher is an edgy anti-hero, he's an absolute girl scout in comparison to Connor. A very dark individual. I want more!
This book being a novella serves as a handy little book to have if getting away for a few days on a break and want good read to get stuck into over a shortish times period. The story acts a a great segue between the series or easy to pick up and get sucked into if you are new the author and character. I won’t delve into the story too much to save spoilers other than to mention how well written it is and I find i can get lost in the Ryder family’s world as I read! Bravo
