For the first time in history, humanity has the capacity to destroy the world.
With the Mutually Assured Destruction principle keeping nuclear warheads locked within their silos, global warming continues its insidious creep across the earth’s atmosphere.

Quentin Black is a former Royal Marine corporal with a decade of service in the Corps. This includes an operational tour of Afghanistan and an advisory mission in Iraq.
Black is the author of the most politically incorrect, unhinged, and entertaining anti-hero in modern fiction, Connor Reed.
Having started reading this series last year, the books get better and better, the latest being the best yet. The books are well researched, drawing on the authors own military experience as an ex Royal Marines Commando. The terminology is spot on, the tactics used in various encounters, are relevant and explained simply for the layman to understand. The humour in the book, is typically dark and yet exactly the type of humour that makes Ex Bootnecks cry with laughter. I read this book in a day, couldn't put it down, but was gutted to finish it. These books are better than Reacher, who I have been reading for years, as they are more relatable, to ex servicemen, especially ones who wore the green lid. Keep them coming Quentin, should make a cracking T.V series or film too.
This series is quite different from the usual spy novels you see out there. For one the main protagonist is the leader of a north England crime family, the second is that the boss of the team gives the team pretty much free reign on how they complete their mission and for Conner that means bringing out the psychopath in him, whenever he meets truly bad people This time round it's fighting against multiple national interests, plus a secretive business man, that seems to have the ability to bend governments to his will It's a good story, the team do their usual stuff and Conner for once meets his match Usually when a series starts to get this long, the storylines start to become repetitive, thankfully this is not the case with this one.........yet. And hopefully we can go a few more at least before it happens
This instalment like the rest of the series is a page turner, with plenty of twists and turns. The authors military and mma background makes a very interesting read even better, and the glossary helps readers without this background to decipher some of the story easily. All in all a tremendous series.
The whole series is brilliant. This one is the best yet. Great characters and it looks as though a significant amount of research was done on the culture and location of Japan. I would highly reccomend this series to those who love action packed thrillers with some sex thrown in! May not be totally suitable for American readers.
