A big portion of this book felt like an insult to my intelligence.
None of the mudras had names so I couldn’t look them up however to me a lot of them sounded untrue. I am not new to mudras and plenty of these do not add up.
I don’t know if they are made up or the meanings are misplaced but if you google, let’s say, mudra for protection, or mudra for trust - what comes up in results looks nothing like what’s shown in the book. I want to know where mudras in this book come from, what are their names and whether they are actually legit because so far a lot of them can’t be easily traced and verified. A legit mudra guide should have a Sanskrit (or other) name of the mudra, while this one has zero.
Another thing that struck me odd is that authors translations of the mantras sometimes are very far removed from their meaning to make them sound much fancier than necessary.
I have C-PTSD and I have read a lot of books on the subject - spiritual, psychological and neurological. And I am left with an impression that author doesn’t have any knowledge and is just making things up as she goes. I couldn’t find any evidence of background in medical field, author doesn’t seem to be qualified to speak about trauma and the ideas presented oftentimes were downright silly. “If your trauma happened at age 1 then it affects your 1st chakra. If your trauma happened at age 7 it affects your 7th chakra”. Funny!
And the entire vibe of the book is like the reader must be clueless about where their PTSD is coming from so we are encouraged to think whether mother has done anything minuscule, because that must be the reason. And then author goes on to tell you that WE ALL HAVE PTSD because of the previous lives and that if you have ANY kind of difficulties in your life it means it stems from PTSD. Sure, we all have PTSD, so that sexually abused child, or the refugee who had his home bombed in war, are experiencing same symptoms as the rest of the population because, you know, past life trauma. Also, we are all a little autistic as the saying goes…
And why focus on “healing PTSD” if we can also throw in mudras for wealth and love and success… a typical cocktail to appeal to the masses.
Lastly, it doesn’t help that the book quality is really low. It’s hard to read because on some pages ink is blurry and / or pale.
Look, even if you do random hand gestures it will still work to a degree - mediation, mindfulness and positive affirmations can help. However if you want a legitimate approach then “Yoga For Fear” is a much more credible resource (which includes a couple of mudras too).
