He was considered to be God incarnate, he performed many miracles and he died and came back to life after three days.
Tell me: who am I talking about?
No, not that son of a carpenter who lived 2,000 years ago. I’m talking about Shirdi Sai Baba – who lived only around 100 years ago.
When Christian missionaries first travelled to India to spread the message of their miracle-working, God-incarnate saviour, I’m pretty sure most locals’ responses would have been: “Oh, we have dozens of those here!”
And it wasn’t only in India that holy miracle workers, who were taught by their gurus, existed. After all, Jesus Christ himself taught his disciples how to raise the dead. (Matthew 10:8)
