I was informed by three separate fertility specialists that my only chances of becoming a mother were to either use a donor egg or adopt. According to them, I was in premature menopause and exhibited high FSH levels and low ovarian reserve, which indicated I had no viable eggs left. These terms were foreign to me and I didn't understand what they meant at the time, but I chose not to accept these verdicts without question. Instead, I embarked on my own research mission aiming at altering my circumstances. Determined to become a mother, I took control of my fertility journey, exploring every possible avenue in order to achieve success. This book encapsulates the strategies I used to achieve a healthy pregnancy. I hope this will serve as an invaluable guidebook for anyone aspiring towards optimal reproductive health." Paula Olsen
I just finished reading The Essential Fertility Guide to Getting Pregnant by Paula Olsen and I have to say, I'm blown away. As someone who has been struggling with infertility for a while now, this book was exactly what I needed. Olsen's personal journey with infertility is conveyed in an authentic and relatable way, making me feel like I'm not alone on this tough journey.
The book covers everything from understanding fertility cycles to exploring Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART), and even includes dietary and lifestyle recommendations to support reproductive health. The step-by-step techniques and concrete tools provided in the book made me feel empowered to take control of my own fertility and do everything possible to succeed.
What I loved most about the book was the comprehensive knowledge and information provided, as well as the empathy and support offered to readers. I found the detailed lists of fertility-enhancing foods and supplements particularly helpful. The hope and inspiration to not give up on the journey to parenthood was a recurring theme throughout the book, which was a much-needed reminder during some of the more difficult moments.
Overall, I would highly recommend The Essential Fertility Guide to Getting Pregnant to anyone who is struggling with infertility. It is well-researched, compassionate, and provides practical advice and action steps to take. The relatability of the author and other women who share their stories throughout the book is comforting and reassuring. It's a must-read for anyone looking to take control of their fertility and have a healthy baby.
First things first. I read this book more for research and information than inspiration or seeking some advice or solution. I’m not a woman. I’m not infertile. At least, not since I last checked. But, I was surprised to find that the book was informative and thoughtful and well thought out. It worked from the basics of the definition of infertility to causes and possible solutions for infertility. Really appreciated the consideration for acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and yoga as solutions for infertility. Diet was discussed as well as weight. Some women are too skinny to become pregnant. Some too heavy. Diet and nutrition play a significant role in fertility. The western medicines were discussed at the end and like the author suggested, the medical treatments and pharmaceutical treatments are the last ditch solutions as they come with so many side effects. Overall, well researched and thoughtful effort. This book offers hope for women trying to get pregnant and points out the most common causes for infertility.
One of the best books I've read on how to enhance fertility. Informative and inspirational, Paula Olsen empowers the reader by sharing her personal story. She offers the reader action steps to take, which immediately helps to reverse negative thought patterns and regain the belief that having a baby is possible. The author presents a well researched account of various treatments, procedures, lifestyle changes and practical advice, which is grounded in her research and her own experience. Her words have a way of igniting hope, inspiring readers to embrace their own unique path towards parenthood.
