Princess Danielle has lost everything at the hands of the Shadow King and his army of death. The start of the war cost her her home, family, and the one person she trusted most. She retreats from public life to find solace in her grief but discovers a determination to never relive the past that nearly broke her. She enlists a group of legendary warriors to train her to fight back against the darkness of the world. After months of training she finds her life once again threatened by the Shadow King. Now, she is prepared to fight for what’s left of her home and family.
Everett has continuously reaped the consequences of war since the Shadow King’s invasion. Weighed down by guilt from the choices he has been forced to make, he finds himself in self-imposed isolation. Hidden from the world, he attempts to put back together the remaining shards of his life. When he is called back to his former life at court, he is forced to wonder what the cost of war will be, and how it will affect those that he loves.
Can Danielle and Everett confront their past and make the necessary decisions to save the future of their kingdom?
If you love a morally gray man who constantly makes you guess if he’s good or the villain, this one’s for you!
This book was a freaking rollercoaster. There were moments of such delicious angst, moments that made me swoon, and seriously I have no idea if this guy is a villain.
It does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, but it’s so worth it! As a debut novel this was amazing! I’m so excited to read whatever Meagan writes next!
A gorgeous debut by a wonderful author! I didn’t know what to expect going into this book, but I was so incredibly surprised! Everett and Danielle had an engaging dynamic, and the plot had me on my toes! The cliffhanger will absolutely bring me back to this world if the author gives it a sequel!
This is not the kind of book that I read at all. I was pleasantly surprised by how interesting it was and how it consistently grabs you attention. The characters were easy to engage with and each chapter made me want to keep reading to find out what happens next. Although I generally may not read this type of book, I would say that Crowned in Shadows is an excellent read.
The author does a fantastic job painting the setting and developing the characters. I can struggle to keep up with fantasy sometimes, and this novel was a great way for me to remember just how much I enjoy fantasy!
I really enjoyed this book! The characters all felt like real people: well rounded with distinct personalities. I especially loved Danielle and enjoyed her motivations and conflict. Can't wait to read the next book!
