Best Friend's Brothers

Rate this book
After escaping an abusive relationship, all I wanted was to focus on my career.
The last thing I needed was to get involved with another man—
Let alone three of them!

Just when I thought nothing could be more enticing—or more forbidden—
I encountered Rory Beckett, the irresistible firefighter and my best friend's older brother.
Fate brought me back into his life, along with his equally captivating brothers, Darren and Jeremy, at a cozy barbecue.

Determined to stand on my own, I tried to resist their charm.
But when my vengeful ex turned stalking into his new obsession,
The Beckett brothers insisted on keeping me safe within their shared home.

As I found myself living with all three of them, our chemistry became undeniable,
And they assured me that I didn't need to choose just one.

Happiness and satisfaction were finally within my reach,
But when a fire set by my ex jeopardized my life and newfound love,
I might never get the chance to reveal my true feelings,
Or share the news of the precious miracle we've created together.

Sweetest

I picked this up because of the cover, and I am glad I did. This was the sweetest, Why choose with best friends' brothers' trope that I've read. It was like sugar with chilly. Sweet and Spicy. One minute, they are melting my heart, and then next, I need a glass of water. I love that there wasn't any drama about her being with them. Her best friend stood by her side and was very accepting of the situation. There is a bit of drama with an ex, but the romance pulled through. Those brothers were dreamy.

So much potential…

This story had so much potential and Natasha set up the story beautifully. Unfortunately it was a huge hit and miss for me. Outside of the first few chapters, it fell flat. The characters weren’t really developed at all. You find out about some of Julie’s past with Eric, but it’s little snippets here and there. Nothing of substance was explained about any of the guys other than their professions. Also, the characters weren’t consistently described throughout the story. For example, at the beginning of the book Julie was a red head who they referred to as strawberry shortcake but then she was a blonde when the EMS called Darren. There were so many spelling and grammatical errors that it was very noticeable and distracting. Another thing that irritated me was how often they would build something up and then skip over it. She moves in with the guys and get started talking about their relationship, then they skip months down the road so you don’t see any of the development of the relationship. At the hospital, Kendall seems pissed and asks which one of them got Julie pregnant, then it skips to two weeks later and you never find out how the conversation went. They made a huge deal about Eric, but he was only mentioned 3 times and it was more in passing than anything else. It seems that the author was more focused on the sexy time than the actual story line. It’s a real shame because I usually love her books.

Lo siento, pero los diálogos son super forzados y los instalove inverosímiles.
He leído libros tratando los mismos temas y era mucho mejores.

Eh, I wanted the stalking and ex drama to go on longer. To me, that was the plot, and it seemed the author kind of forgot that. I liked Rory, Jeremy, and Darren's overall vibe, but it felt a little rushed and not realistic because of that. Also, I HATE pregnancy troupe. To me, it always feels like a lazy plot device. I wanted to see more of Julie surviving ex's bullshit and it was cut way too short. I was left feeling a bit cheated.

Hmmm, I really don't like writing reviews like this, but this story could have been soooo much MORE. The writing style seemed very immature which was jarring with the content (RH) and it really needs a good edit - many typos and wrong words used. The premise was great but most of the storyline was given away in the blurb. The three MMC's almost seemed like they were developed by AI as what a perfect book boyfriend would do, say, or look like - too perfect! It was all too over the top and everyone and everything was perfect.

This book had so much potential. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mean to bash the author or their work but it just didn’t hit like I thought it would. The writing could use some work and there were parts where it was supposed to be one persons pov but then halfway in got mixed into someone else??? The characters had great stories and I really did like the plot just not the execution.

Had so much potential but went nowhere and all the characters were so flat and unmemorable. And there were so many typos I was constantly being thrown from the story, it was so annoying!

Me hubiera encantado que fuera un poco más largo para que se desarrollaran mejor los personajes.
Ademas, siento que todos aceptaron muy fácil la dinámica 😂

Darren fue mi favorito. 😏🤭

As I'm in my why choose romance era, the title and cover of this book caught my attention immediately while I was browsing Kindle Unlimited. A sweet why choose romance that has a touch of the forbidden with her best friend's three older brothers, then add a dangerous ex turned stalker, plus all the spice of an RH, and this book checked all the boxes.

At 211 pages, this book was perfect length to snuggle up with a cozy blanket and cup of coffee on a Saturday afternoon, knowing I could finish the book in a day. While I was engaged in the story initially, after the first half I nearly didn't finish. The book had a lot of potential, but while the threat posed by Julie's ex was a major conflict pushing the plot forward, there was very little development of the backstory. The typos and grammatical mistakes also distracted me while reading.

I enjoyed the story enough to finish it, and while other reviews have stated that the characters were flat, and I would have liked to see more character development, I wouldn't go so far as to call the main characters flat.

Three stars: the book was ok, I don't feel like it was a waste of my time, but wouldn't reread it.

There were some editing issues that took me out of the story. I had to reread a sentence here and there to make sure I understood what was being said. Mistakes happen and they're no big deal but when there are enough that it effects the flow of the story, then I feel the need to add it to my review.

The balance in an RH/Poly is important. You have to make sure each individual relationship is clear and defined without losing the group dynamic. In this story, Rory seems to be lost in the background a lot. There were a couple of group scenes where you went a few pages before hearing from him again. Each guy had a role in Julie's life. Rory was the one to remind her to have fun. Jeremy had her back legally and provided stimulating conversation. And Darren made her feel safe physically and gave her confidence. Each one was important but Rory seemed to draw the short straw a lot.

Based on the premise, I thought we would get more drama from the ex. I was expecting stalking, creepy phone calls and noises outside her window, a kidnapping attempt or two. But no. He showed up semi-peacefully at her job twice and then burned down her building. Then admitted it was him once he was seen so he was promptly arrested. I admit I was disappointed at the lack of thriller vibes here. There was a lot of potential for the guys to come to her rescue besides just living together.

Spice, in my opinion, always comes down to personal preference. Some like it light, some like it frequent, some like it dark, some like it really detailed vs the fade-to-black, closed door lack of detail. I don't think this particular story needed a lot of spice, maybe enough to show her trust in the guys after what she went through. The intimacy after trauma would have been good for her personal growth and the growth of the relationship with the guys.

That being said, I'm rating this a 2.5/5. It lacked for me.

Finding Love In The Midst of Despair -
Julie hadn’t seen any of her best friend’s brothers for years, but she felt like her world tilted on its axis when she laid eyes on each of them. The last time Jeremy, Rory and Darren saw Julie, she was a scrawny teenager, so they never expected that seeing Julie as an adult, would truly shake them to the core or for the level of their protective instincts that emerged, when they found out she was in trouble.

Spending time with each of the brothers heightened their attraction and this led to all four of them embarking on relationship together. Unfortunately, Julie’s ex-boyfriend continued to reek havoc on her life and put intentionally put life in danger during one of the incidents. Luckily, Julie was rescued without any lasting damage, but it also created the opportunity to reveal her life changing news.

Once the brothers heard Julie’s news, they were truly elated, as it gave them the confidence to finally take the steps to seek the forever happiness they wanted with her. The storyline of how they got together, made this a really interesting page turner, that will have you hooked from the first page. The characters were all different, but they just seemed to merge well together. This is a steamy, drama filled story, filled with lots of emotions and engaging characters. Grab a copy now and indulge yourself for a few hours.

I really really really wanted to love this book. There were some aspects that were completely and absolutely loveable. Julie and Kendall have the perfect best friend/non blood sister relationship that everyone needs. Kendall has the 3 hot and successful older brothers who see Julie all grown up and each make a play for her.

Julie falls for all 3 of the Beckett brothers and the why choose portion of the book happens. The brothers are okay sharing Julie and she is okay loving them all. They vow to protect her from her very abusive ex.

There are some really good and spicy scenes. There are some cute interactions with Julie and the boys as well as Kendall and her brothers. There is some great poly/why choose acceptance. There are a few true to life intimate partner abuse references and actions.

But I felt like there was SO MUCH MORE that could have been done. I felt like you'd get a snippet of information on a character, and then the book would go in another direction. The characters had the potential to be so good. I would have also loved to see what happened when Kendall found out that Julie was with all three of her brothers, let alone having a baby with them.

It was a short, quick read that I found myself smiling at every now and then. I hope that the author re -edits and maybe re-releases with some extra meat to the story. I would reread it if that happened but I don't have plans to do it right now, as is.

It has been years since Julie has seen any of her best friend's brothers-- in fact, she was an awkward teenager. Now an adult, she runs into Rory, her best friend's older brother and hot firefighter while working in ER. She's not the only one to feel instant attraction. Rory can't believe the beautiful woman Julie has grown up to become. When Rory and his 2 brothers Jeremy and Darren learn that Julie's life is in danger when her abusive ex is released from prison, they vow to protect Julie at all cost. It is during this time that they all acknowledge that they have feelings for one another and enter into a relationship. Her ex is obsessed with Julie being with him and only him. Will the guys be able to keep Julie safe or will her ex tear away from them the best thing that has every happened to them.

"Best Friend's Brothers", with its complex, likable characters, fast paced drama, and combustible sexual chemistry is sure to draw you in until the very last page. I read this book in one sitting. Losing a little sleep was very worth it! I highly recommend this book.

Why choose indeed?!?
Best Friend's Brothers: A Why Choose Romance by Natasha L. Black is just as sweetly romantic as it is full of spicey steam. Julie, Rory, Darren, and Jeremy have the advantage of knowing each other through the guy's sister, Julie's best friend. This is also a bit of a disadvantage as it causes Julie some mental distress. But it's hard to dwell on that when these three protective men are dead set on protecting Julie from her abusive ex.
As this foursome explore all that can be, the danger to Julie is real. Taking advantage of their close proximity, Julie, Rory, Darren and Jeremy get to know one another very well and quite explosively!
I really enjoyed this why choose romance! The characters are wonderful and each in their own ways, especially the guys as they are truly unique and distinct from each other. I have also read several books by this author and in thinking back, I believe this book is her best writing so far.
Overall, Julie doesn't have to choose. She gets the best outcomes of all (there's a surprise!) including a HEA.

This is a wonderful love story about a young woman, Julie who tries to move forward from the harm of her abusive ex, her best friend, Kendall and her 3 older brothers, Jeremy, Darren and Rory. One night while Julie is working in the ER she treats Rory a firefighter with smoke inhalation and they have an interesting conversation with flirting and sass. When Julie joins Kendall at her family house at the beach over the holiday weekend she ends up connecting with the guys and having a relaxing time. When the ex is let out of jail Julie becomes worried he’ll come after her and it’s great to see how each brother does what they can to protect her. The guys admit they all have feelings for Julie and she slowly ends up being with the guys in an intimate way they leads to a secret relationship after Julie moves in with the guys. Their relationship turns out to be the best thing to happen to them all even when her past comes after her. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really enjoyed this story about Julie Romero. When she is notified that her ex was being let out of prison and what he put her through, terrified her beyond words. Her best friend Kendall Beckett offered to have her stay with her. Julie meets Kendall’s youngest brother Rory in the ER, she is attracted to him. She is invited to the Hamptons for their end of season BBQ weekend, Julie is equally attracted to Darren and Jeremy and all three guys are trying to keep their attraction quiet.

It’s not long after that weekend, Julie finds herself on alert from her ex trying to contact her at the hospital. Things progress to the point where Julie is now living with the guys. This is where their attraction for each other moves forward to a physical relationship. And it turns permanent after she learns she’s pregnant and her building is burnt down. They all discover that Julie is having their baby and they have they a happily ever after.

I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.

Such a sweet read!

Even though I’ve DNF’d one of Natasha’s books in the past, I make it a rule to try and read 2-3 books by an author before I give up on said author. I’m glad I have that rule ☺️

I thought Best Friend’s Brothers was a quick sweet read. I loved the characters however Darren was my favorite MMC. I especially thought Julie was more connected with Darren or shared a deeper bond with him than she did with the other two brothers.

Because I loved the characters and premise so much, I would’ve loved for this story to have been longer. I really thought we’d have more of the psycho ex in the book too, so that was a bit of a let down. I felt like there was a missed opportunity and suspense that could’ve really added to the storyline.

I LOVED that the best friend was totally fine with her bestie hooking-up with her brothers. She was so laid back about it, it was really refreshing!

Overall I thought it was a rather wholesome read for a reverse harem book & that is also refreshing 😊

Julia is a nurse working in the ER when her best friend’s brother is wheeled in after helping put out a fire. He is a firefighter, Rory. Her BFF has two other brothers, Jeremy an attorney and Darren, who works in security detail. The brothers remember her as either really young or from her teen years. Kendall invites her to the family barbecue for the weekend. All three men are interested…too much so; she is as well in all three. When she receives a letter, her ex is getting out of prison early, she contacts her friend, Kendall. At 18, she met Eric, and they became involved; a toxic abusive relationship where she ended up putting him behind bars. Now, she is scared for her life! The three men step forward to help protect her, and things end up happening between them. When her life is jeopardized, the men will come to the fore for protection. Who started the fire? What will Kendall say when she discovers the relationships? What will the men say about her secret?

Healing Nurse Julie

I liked Julie Romero and the Beckett brothers - Darren, Jeremy and Rory. The guys had sweet, yet heated, relationships with her that grew almost organically. I like how the idea to share has two different origins, and I love that there isn't any jealousy.

“But are they huge? Because size matters with flowers I guess,” [Darren] said wryly.

“The Beckett men do not disappoint when it comes to size,” Rory quipped.

To go with the steam, there's some suspense, laughs, and an abundance of protectiveness. There's also some angst, but it's mostly tied to her past.

FYI: There are some dark undertones related to Julie's ex, but there aren't a lot of details about the various events.

When Julie administers assistance to Rory in the ER, she gets the chance to reconnect with the Beckett family. Rory and his brothers are drawn to Julie and can't believe the woman she has turned into. Julie has past drama with an ex who will be released from prison soon and she fears what he will do to her and as a result the Beckett brothers offers their assistance. It will also bring on a relationship with three men that all want to be a part of her life but when her ex make do on his plans to ensure that she will be with him and no one else will the Beckett brothers be able to protect her against her ex.

It was fine…some grammatical errors on the kindle version that were slightly annoying and a lot of the story felt very rushed

***SPOILERS***
Again it was fine, honestly not something I would write home about. When you read the summary or whatever it is on the back of the book, there was such a big emphasis on the ex boyfriend and him stalking her but like in reality he’s only brought up 3 times…I was disappointed in the lack of depth the book had and I think that had to do with the lackluster story development there. I was also not impressed with how she handled the men finding out about the pregnancy…her best friend lets loose and then the next chapter is two weeks in the future. I had to check and make sure I wasn’t missing part of the story because it felt so weird to read

✨ 📖 Book Review ✨

Title: Best Friend’s Brothers
Author: Natasha L. Black
Rating: ⭐️⭐️
Spice rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Genre: RH, friends to lovers, forbidden love, why choose, stalker ex bf
Format: ebook
Length: 211 pages
Start: September 13, 2023
Finish: September 16, 2023

Summary:
Julie gets reacquainted with her best friend’s older brothers at a family bbq, and sparks fly between all 3 of them with her. She just got out of a bad abusive relationship, and her ex is now out to get har after being released from prison. The brothers push her to live with them where she’s safe. She develops a relationship with all 3 brothers.

Thoughts:
There was potential here, but I think it fell short… really short. Like what other reviewers have said, I felt the characters were really flat, there were no depth or emotions really portrayed. We were just told what was going on instead of fully being immersed. I felt bored, and just wanted to finish the book so I didn’t have to read it anymore. It seemed like the author just rushed this story and gave us bullet points without going back and adding in the fillers we needed to get attached to the characters.

Would not recommend.
