He's dominant, commanding, and always gets what he wants. And now he wants me.
I witnessed a murder. Now I'm being held captive by Angelo Toscano, the city's ruthless mafia king.
There's a traitor in his midst. One of his men pulled the trigger, and I'm the only one who can identify the murderer.
He needs me. I just need to stay alive.
Despite the danger I'm in, I can't help but notice the way Angelo's eyes linger on me, the heat in his gaze that makes my heart race. I can't deny the attraction I feel for him.
Wanting someone who holds me captive is insane. But every time he's near, I can't help but feel drawn to him.
All I know is that I need to stay alive long enough to find the traitor and clear my name.
And maybe, just maybe, I'll find a way to make Angelo see me as more than just a captive.
His Mafia Prince is a high heat M/M Mafia romance with a HEA and no cliffhanger. It's part of the Toscano Doms series, but can be read as a standalone.
His Mafia Prince is book one in the Toscano Dom series.
I love a good dark MM romance and mafia is absolutely my jam. But this was not it.
Insta love. Lacking plot. The changing from which character was speaking it was messy and somewhat chaotic, could do with an editor before publishing in my opinion. For a dual POV book where it states which character should be speaking but it feeling very third person. It was not a vibe.
It's a shame…there were really great elements with Sebastian being a college professor. The mafia side and the found family aspect could have been brilliant. But it this missed completely for me.
Ummm... I believe this is a good book to test if this troup is for you... Mafia Boss, that's gay... Civilian partner... Low in the grit and gore... I enjoyed the story but wasn't in love with the characters... Unfortunately, after reading others like: Submit, Surrender, or Dario... I have learned that I love all the betrayals, showing of loyalty, and the murderous men who make up the characters in these books...
As I did say... Angelo was more my type of character... Raw, a leader, and honestly a lil unpredictable... But, still lacking in some way... Sabastián didn't give me what I needed from a MC... He was quirky, but dull in ways...
HEA MM STRICT TOP/BOTTOM MAFIA/PROFESSOR/MURDER MILD ANGST 2 OUTTA 5 IN THE 🔥🔥🔥 DEPARTMENT
I try not to just outright say books are bad but this was.
It belongs on Wattpad. It was horrifically innacurate: Sebastian misses about a week of work and his boss says nothing ; sex just happens randomly with no earlier preparation, what clothes did Sebastian wear(?) he was kidnapped, where did he get clothes (?) ; he's in love after a week apparently; there's a separation between the front and back of police vehicles; the whole fight thing (?????).
The writing could've been AI generated for all the cliches it used.
It had potential but was honestly unoriginal nonsense.
I have been debating if I wanted to actually review this and rate it and now here I am. I have never been a fan of "bad" reviews, I felt that I needed to be honest about how this book went. I know a lot of time and care goes into writing a book and that some books might just not be for me. I think this is one of them. The story felt very rushed, instalovey,insta-possesion. I feel like there was not time in between the main characters getting together. I do realize this is a daily short novel and possibly it is set up that way for a reason. That being said, I couldn't get any actual depth from the characters, the author tells you more of what's happening than letting the story do the work. It's very much in your face, we don't know how we got here yet here we are. I have read other mafia books, and although there are several interpretations of the mafia world, this felt like more of a backdrop to the story. We're told how significant the Toscano Mafia is, how scary they are and so forth. We are rarely shown the "danger". It more like a wrap up of occurrence until the very end. The last couple chapters is where all the "action" is. I phrase it this way because, the most we get is a fight. Overall this was a quick read, fast paced, instalove, mm romance. Though I appreciate what the author was trying to do, I feel like it didn't hit the mark for me. I don't plan on continuing on with the rest of the books, unless I am convinced otherwise. I do think that my perspective on this novel is in great part do to having read some amazing mafia books.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This COLLEGE PROFESSOR who teaches idk what subject something about criminals and their psychology amd hands over essays about the zodiac killer not only casually talks to his co-worker about the murder he just witnessed but also blurts out the following line to the weird scary man who knows is full name and is following him home:
"Please, I didn't see anything!" Sebastian blurted out, attempting to feign ignorance.
WHAT THE FUCK? are we being serious here? I was willing to ignore the juvenile interactions and inner monologue of this grown man but then the mafia daddy showed up shortly after that failure of a line and I bailed. Life is to short to be wasted on books I know I wont enjoy. I should be studying for a test so I'm gonna go do that now.
It was a little too short to truly allow development, so the romance did fall a little flat for me. Although the concept and setup is great, the writing grabbed me instantly and I adored Sebastian & Angelo.
There was a lot of potential in the story and it was an entertaining read, I loved the glimpses into the side cast. Angelo and Sebastian's chemistry is perfect, the shared looks and the plot to find the killer was amazing.
Overall it's an enjoyable read with some great action scenes, steamy moments and a sweet ending with a glimpse into the future. I only wish the story had been longer to explore everything more as i was gripped.
2.5 stars, but rounded down, because I have issues with this book. 1) why was it so short? It should have at least a 100 pages more to be a believable story 2) the insta love. While insta lust is mostly okay, insta love is not. You literally don't fall in love with someone in 2 days 3) the story and the characters had potential, but it was way too fast paced to get to know the characters and actually get attached to them 4) this mafia is definitely a "book" mafia and not a real one, do your research kids I want to say I enjoyed it and I did a little bit, but not enough to round up the rating. Probably will give up on this series
There was an attempt at a plot. The plot happened over about a 3 day period. It was like we were being told "this happened, and then this happened, and these important players are now involved." The house got a better description than all the characters. I like an insta-love, but this was not it.
It was 3rd person and the chapters were labeled to be in one character's POV, but it did not always work; literally one chapter was Angelo but it started out in Sebastian's POV.
With some editing and maybe some timeline revision, this could work.
The storyline is fun and action filled, the MCs are lovable, and the backstory is good. Unfortunately the proofreading isn’t that good. At least one chapter was named as Angelo’s but was about Sebastian, a fight is happening outside but the author is repeatedly talking about “the room”, some wrong words (very apparent autocorrect), and things like that. I also got the feeling that whoever edited it cut out a bit too much. Things happening way too fast without any explanation. I’m not sorry I read it though.
I really wanted to give this book a chance because I like dark romance. The story was so awful, I had to skimmed most of it. There were numerous spelling errors in the writing. It was unclear who was speaking because the author constantly switched between MCs or forgetting who they were narrating. I hope they get an editor and some beta readers and rework this book because with this plot, the book could be really good.
This book was so good. I honestly wished it was longer. It had suspense and heat. There was a plot and for such a short read, the characters were developed. I can’t wait to read more from this author and series.
Confusing and contradictory. Can the main character not remember the killer’s face or does it haunt his every waking thought? Because he seems to go back and forth between the two.
