You have to keep in mind that this is a fifteen year old book. Digital photography (and computer in general) barely existed, so the second half of the book, which relies on technical tips, software techniques is not as useful now as it was in 2002.
Bared to bone, the message of the book is: "look around". The first half of the book teaches you this, it tries to train your eyes to color, pattern, reflections, mood. It's very generic and it probably tells you things you already heard before.

LOVED this book, STILL love this book, and frequently refer to it as a reference book. Fantastic.
