My father never saw a bet he didn't want to gamble on.
It's too bad that he never wins. And it's worse that he sees his only son as a burden to get rid of.
Now, I've been sold to the mafia to pay off my father's debts. I'm the property of Marco King, a cocky mafia enforcer who takes pleasure in controlling every aspect of my life.
At first, I resist his advances. I'm not interested in being just another one of his conquests. But as I spend more time with him, I can't help but feel a pull towards him. His dominant touch sends shivers down my spine.
Our relationship is a dangerous dance of lust and control. I'm torn between my desire for my keeper and my need for freedom, but I can't seem to break free from his hold.
And as much as I hate to admit it, a part of me doesn't want to.
This is a book with a lot of potential, that completely wastes it. It feels like there is an entire chunk of book that is just missing. The relationship development goes from them barely acknowledging each other to I can't live without you in the space of a page. It's quite jarring and ridiculous.
This books needs at least 100 extra pages of development for it to work. I enjoyed the writing style and some of the banter, but as it is it's just not really worth reading.
There is no build up, so there is no pay off. There is very little actual conflict, and what little there is is settled in just a few pages of unsatisfying climax.
Overall, I feel like I'm being generous giving it 3 stars.
I read the first book and enjoyed it despite the clichés in the writing. I’ve found that the over the top writing has continued in this one. The stories are good at their basic level. The basic plot is good. The heat is good. The writing could do with some good editing. These are short reads and they are enjoyable so I’m going to continue with the series. I think the author shows a lot of promise.
I really needed this quick cute read after a more in depth emotional roller coaster. If your looking for something easy to devour this is the book for you! Guaranteed hea with the cutest Joey ever!
2.5☆ I thought this would be better than the first of the series. It was but just barely. I like these characters better, but the author takes its time describing some things that feel inconsequential and rushes through others that I felt needed more time. This is as far as I go in this series.
It's a very basic read, a novella. Don't think to hard on it sooooo many holes in the story. But bones are ok for a quick read. I will try and finish the series.
I'm genuinely confused by the ending. How he won but lost n dad exited that. Just weird and confusing and frankly WTF
This book was a short read, the slow burn was fantastic and I loved the plot and the HEA and no cliffhangers, I will continue with the rest of the series.
