She thought secrets would tear them apart; instead, they brought them together.
Khloe Moore has secrets. She came to Fallport, Virginia, under false pretenses, only intending to stay for a short while. Over a year later, she’s found the town has everything she’s ever wanted, including friends, a supportive community, and a boss she kinda wants to smack—sometimes with her lips, sometimes with her hand. But when Raiden’s beloved dog is in serious medical danger, all of Khloe’s secrets come spilling out when she risks her privacy to save him.
Since leaving the Coast Guard, Raiden Walker has lived a quiet life as the town librarian. But he has secrets of his own. Horrors from his last mission in the military. Torments he endured as a kid. What he does in his basement every Friday night… It’s easier to keep his head down and avoid tight connections, even with the men he spends time with on the Eagle Point Search and Rescue team. His four-legged search partner is his best friend. And when his bloodhound’s life is in peril, the last person he expects to save him is Raid’s equally standoffish library employee.
Khloe and Raiden never thought they’d find the one thing they’d always longed for in each other—a loving partner. They’d sniped at one other for so long, once they stopped trying to hide their true selves, they were blindsided by their connection.
Settling into their newfound relationship is exciting…but hardly smooth sailing. Both have skeletons in their closets that aren’t content to stay put. On top of that, a member of their community is doing his best to discredit them both. They’ll have to fight to build a life together in the small town they consider home. And it will take each and every one of their friends—people only too happy to accept them exactly as they are—to ensure they get their happy ending.
** Searching for Khloe is the seventh and final book in the Eagle Point Search & Rescue Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.
***Bad things happened to our hero in the past, and even worse, to his loyal canine coworker, so please be aware before reading. Justifiably, something equally horrible happens to his enemy. Which might technically require a warning, but…we think you'll agree that anyone who harms animals deserves to suffer.
New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Tennessee where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, Indiana, and Tennessee. She's married to a retired Army man who now gets to follow her around the country.
This one was a bitter sweet reading. I loved this series and I was curious about this last one. And although it did started well, I felt the book drag and drag. It was as if the chapters were just filling the book and little else, it didn't add anything new. Curiously, the ending was fast paced and surprisingly good, considering everything that was behind.
I was an emotional wreck for at the very least, the last half of this story! I expected it, as anything with pets, you know it is going to hit you hard, and knowing Duke was going to be in the story, and what Raid had been through previously. Khloe and Raid’s romance wasn’t traditional, and I loved the depths both their characters had, and the acceptance they have each other on who they were. Trouble is facing them on several fronts in their journey, and some of those unexpected cameo’s just about tore me apart. Needless to say, the authour has once again woven a complex tale, with a wide cast of characters, and a unbelievable epilogue, with the last moments, that left me with the biggest grin on my face <3
The final book in the series and such a good one! Raid and Khloe have been verbally sparring and dancing around each other for a couple of years, but now we finally get their very bumpy, dangerous and haunting journey to HEA. Raid is not the most experienced when it comes to people and relationships, he understands animals much better than people, so it is no surprise that it has taken two years for him to realise that the unsettled feeling he gets around Khloe is actually....love! But just as they take a step towards a relationship their pasts come back to hunt and haunt them, they fear they will never be safe, but as we see the bond and the love between them grow, we also see their determination and resolve strengthen, they now have so much more to fight for, to defend and to live for. It may be bittersweet that this is the final book in the series, but they definitely go out with a bang! I love that we also get an appearance from Tonka too - crossovers add so much.
Khloe is the character I’ve been waiting for and this story for both her and Raid, did not disappoint…though I will say I’m sad to see the end of this series😢
Khloe has secrets and once they are exposed, she knows she will have to reveal all or leave Fallport and start over somewhere else, which she really doesn’t want to do as the town has grown on her - even her boss, Raid😉
Raid left the Coast Guards after a horrible experience. He’s not spoken about this to his teammates and friends on the Search and Rescue team with him. However, as soon as danger appears concerning Khloe, Raid is the first to insert himself to help after she did him a huge favour🥹
Loved this story and the guest appearances by some other favourite characters, but admittedly a great ending to the series❣️
Khloe had so much she was hiding; she was also in hiding in Fallport after she was nearly killed in her old life. She loves the people she's met in her new life, but she also feels like the best thing she can do for them is steer clear to avoid dragging them into her problems. Shes kept a low profile up till now, but when Duke falls ill and Fallports only vet is out of town Khloe knows she has to do whatever it takes to save him. Raid is forever grateful that Khloe's secret past life gave her the skills to save is four-legged best friend, but now he knows there is so much more to his employee and why she's in their beloved town. After a video goes viral and Khloe's whereabouts have been exposed her past comes back to haunt her. Will Raiden be able to keep her safe, from her past and his? Searching for Khloe is the last book in this series installment, and I love how Susan Stoker gives us a glimpse into the whole gang's future.

Khloe & Raid's story is the perfect wrapup for this series - as well as giving us a catch up with Tonka & a peek at a new series. 😊
I loved getting to know Khloe & Raid, & Duke. The way their relationship grows is beautiful, their need to be close to each other & know each other's secrets (but giving each other space to share in their own time) was a joy to read. I love their support for and with each other. AND! The way they both open up to their friends was satisfying. AND AND! The town rallies around them in numerous ways that put a smile on my face.
Add on a fantastic epilogue & this is another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
A great finish to this series! I really have been waiting for Raiden’s story for a while. This one did not disappoint. There are a lot of wonderful interactions between him and Khloe and his friends. This takes a surprising turn of events near the end. It is quite shocking but also nice to see a few get their “just desserts”. I listened to this on audio. Lucy Rivers and Jason Clarke did an amazing job on the audio.
I've been cheering this couple on since she was I produced in book 2 of the series. Susan Stoker did not disappoint. With secrets coming out of the woodwork all the characters, plus some familiar faces show up to ensure a HEA and the epilogue is just perfect!!
This was a good read but some things bothered me about it, like how closed off the help Khloe was when she was becoming such close friends with her group and the closeness is part of the point. Anyway, I’ll miss having a Stoker series to read for a while. I read the ebook. 4/5
Khloe turned her back on the door and walked over to the bloodhound. She checked his vitals and, once satisfied that he was stable, headed for the small scrub room off the operating room.
Susan Stoker provided twists and turns. Multiple bad guys to deal with. As an animal lover it was great to see Duke front and center in the book. Can’t wait to see what the new series has in store for us.
I enjoyed this story about Raid and Khloe. This is the final book in the series and it was good, I'd definitely recommend. Some of the storylines were better then others and the series should be read in order.
A good ending to this series. Khloe and Rain's story, with some twists and turns of bad guys coming from all angles, and a wonderful dog to root for. A nice epilogue wrapping up everyone's story with, of course, a big group HEA.
It’s been a long time coming and the last one in the series is usually always highly anticipated but sometimes the story just doesn’t deliver. Well, not this time. I often wonder, what kind of stories can there still be told as Susan Stoker has - Idk - more than 90 books or so out… But she did it. Again. I didn’t expect - well, of course there’d be a HEA, but the journey for them to get there? Fabulous. Sadly, EP S&R is done but hopefully Susan Stoker has many other stories to tell!
Searching for Khloe has all the Susan Stoker magic.
Searching for Khloe has all the Susan Stoker magic. Khloe, Raiden, and Duke’s HEA tale has it all. The finest of friends, suspense, danger, intrigue, kindness, and steamy hotness. I loved every second. And it was an epic, standalone, conclusion to the Eagle Point Search & Rescue series.
Raid and Khloe have a great romance with plenty of sparks and steam. Raid is a shy hero, a 6'8" tall red-head with pointy ears who has been teased for his "unique" looks in the past. So, he is slow to trust, and a traumatic experience in the Coast Guard has left a dark place in his soul. But he is all the man that Khloe needs when her past comes after her with a vengeance. His past targets them, too. Khloe quickly realizes that she's going to have to lead the way in the romance and steam department--but Raid just needs the nudge and reassurance and then, look out--it's true what they say about nerds and sex. ;) Raid takes charge in the danger department, calling in friends and favors and standing tall (very tall!) between Khloe and the threat against them. The climactic ending is very satisfying (especially if you also read Ms. Stoker's The Refuge series and are familiar with Tonka's story--Tonka and Raid were partners in the Coast Guard, and lived through the same traumatic event.)
As much as I love every one of these heroes--and want to be friends with the heroines--my favorite thing about the Eagle Point Search & Rescue series are the citizens of Fallport. So many of them that we've met throughout the series, get their moment to shine in this story.
The epilogue is cute and fun, too, giving us a glimpse into the future with these SAR heroes and their Fallport friends.
The icing on the cake would be to have Sheriff Simon get his own story. Ms. Stoker writes wonderful stories with mature heroes & heroines, usually related to a series like this one.
Saying goodbye to Eagle Point Search and Rescue is such sweet sorrow!
I have loved every hour, every minute, and every second I've spent reading the Eagle Point Search and Rescue series by Susan Stoker. Thus, it was very hard for me when I started reading Searching for Khloe, knowing it was the final book in this excellent series. I wanted to take my time and savor every scene, every word of this story. However, I had waited for Khloe and Raid's story and was so happy to see it turn up in my Kindle home page, I attacked the book like a starving man gobbles down a free meal! I could not put this book down! I paused reading only for bathroom and food breaks. Even my usual TV shows did not deter me from reading. Searching for Khloe. I am not sure what the estimated reading time was for this book. I am sure I did not set any speed reading records. However, it felt like I had read it way too fast when late at night I turned off the lights and went to bed, smiling through my tears as I read the final page of this wonderful book!
Susan Stoker's heroines are not victims even though they are often discovered in some very perilous circumstances! They may be scared and desperate, but they are strong, intelligent, and most of all, they're survivors. Khloe Moore, the heroine of Searching for Khloe, is that kind of character. Susan Stoker has built Khloe's character throughout the series. Susan created Khloe to be a woman of mystery, an introvert who prefers animals to people. In many ways, she is a woman after my own heart. Again, I think Khloe demonstrates Susan Stoker's incredible talent. In Khloe, Susan has concocted a woman many readers can connect with. Khloe's prickly exterior that hides her huggable interior makes her the perfect foil for Raiden.
Raid's outward appearance, as well as his needy personality, has become picture clear as the series has unfolded. I can see him perfectly as though I was staring at a photo of him as I read. Susan Stoker's expressive words make the giant leprechaun of a man a classic flawed hero. And who can resist his beloved blood hound, Duke? Duke may even be more loveable than all of Susan's characters combined.
Susan Stoker has managed to make me appreciate small town living, something I refused to acknowledge in my 13 years of military service. Fallport and all its quirky townspeople have helped me to smile, even in the middle of a Midwest tornado watch! As I read how the people pulled together for Khloe, Raiden and Duke, I found myself longing for the "good old days" growing up in rural Northern California, surrounded by dairy farms and cattle ranches, and neighbors who were always "in your business". I hated it then, but there was a sense of safety, I haven't felt much since! It amazes me how Susan Stoker can create those "feels" with only words. It is one of the many things I enjoy about escaping into one of Susan's novels.
Searching for Khloe ended all too soon. It was impossible to read slowly when every minute had me on the edge of my seat, wondering how Raiden and Khloe were ever going to find their happily ever after. Of course, Susan Stoker would never leave me hanging. She always has the happily ever after ending all figured out. Once again, with the help of all the characters from Eagle Point Search and Rescue ,another Susan Stoker Suspense Romance ends with everybody safe and sound with hope of a fabulous future.
SEARCHING FOR KHLOE by SUSAN STOKER 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Searching for Khloe is the 7th and final book in Susan Stokers Eagle Point Search and Rescue series.
Raiden Walker, former Coast Guard and current Librarian in Fallport, Virginia is a reclusive nerd. I really enjoyed this book. Stoker shows that not all heroes have to be classically handsome and that it’s not what’s on the surface that counts. Raiden’s nerdy character is written sympathetically and the attraction between the two MC’s are believable. I wondered whether the three protagonists would be too much but each storyline was brought to a satisfying conclusion. It was nice to see ‘Tonka ’ from DESERVING HENLEY get a sort of conclusion to his story and there is the almost obligatory cameo from ‘Tex’. Overall I think this book rounds the series off nicely.
Searching for Khloe includes: (to name a few)
🐕 Nerdy MMC 🐕 Spiky and secretive MFC 🐕 Suspense 🐕 Hidden attraction 🐕 Cute Dog 🐕 Small Town Romance 🐕 Lasting Friendship
"Searching for Khloe" by Susan Stoker is a captivating finale to the Eagle Point Search & Rescue series. This book beautifully weaves a tale of love, secrets, and redemption, centering on two complex characters, Khloe Moore and Raiden Walker.
Khloe arrives in Fallport, Virginia, with the intention of staying briefly but finds herself enchanted by the small town and its supportive community. Her secrets, however, threaten to unravel the life she's built, especially when Raiden's beloved dog faces a life-threatening situation. Khloe's brave decision to help reveals her hidden past and sets the stage for an unexpected romance.
Raiden, a former Coast Guard officer turned librarian, is haunted by his own dark past. His reserved nature and solitary life, shared only with his search-and-rescue bloodhound, make him a complex and intriguing character. When Khloe steps in to save his dog, Raiden finds himself drawn to her, despite their previous contentious relationship.
Their journey from mutual antagonism to deep connection is both heartwarming and fraught with challenges. Stoker skillfully portrays their burgeoning romance, highlighting their vulnerabilities and the skeletons they must confront. The tension is further heightened by a local antagonist who seeks to undermine them, adding an element of suspense to the narrative.
The strength of "Searching for Khloe" lies in its rich character development and the portrayal of a tight-knit community that rallies around Khloe and Raiden. The supporting characters, familiar from previous books, contribute to a satisfying and cohesive conclusion to the series.
Overall, "Searching for Khloe" is a compelling read that combines romance, suspense, and emotional depth. Susan Stoker delivers a satisfying ending to the Eagle Point Search & Rescue series, leaving readers with a sense of closure and the warmth of a happily ever after.
I loved Raiden and Khloe’s adorkable, nerdy, coworker, frenenemies to lovers romantic suspense tale. It was so easy to fall into this story as it had the perfect balance of humor, heartwarming love, real life issues, danger, intrigue, past trauma, and spice. Raiden is a former dog handler in the Coast Guard and now works as the librarian in the small town of Fallsport. He also is a member of Eagles Point Search and Rescue based in Fallsport along with his bloodhound Rocky. He’s very tall, nerdy, and an introvert. Khloe works at the library, is secretive about her past, and has tried, somewhat unsuccessfully to keep the townspeople at arms length. When Rocky requires immediate veterinarian care, Khloe reveals she is a vet and performs emergency life saving surgery. Despite Khloe and Raiden having spent the last year and a half sniping and antagonizing each other, there were undercurrents of feelings and saving Duke jumpstarted the journey to their HEA. But to get there, they’ll have to deal with the danger and trauma from the past and have faith in each other and their friends. The story was expertly written and flawlessly delivered. It included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and a captivating storyline. I love the central theme of found family in this series - that you can create the family you need. Eagles Point Search and Rescue, the men and the families they found, are the embodiment of family and love. I am sorry to come to the end of this series.
Raiden Walker was once in the Coast Guard, but now living in Fallport, Virginia a small-town were everybody knew your name. Raid was now the head librarian and a member of Eagle Point Search and Rescue Team. The skills he had learned in the Coast Guard had helped finding the lost hikers, but no one was as good at finding a missing person as his bloodhound dog named Duke. His loved dog had become a hero to the towns people by how many people he had helped find in the dense area of Eagle Peak.
Raid loved his dog and the quiet life of Fallport. Then a pretty woman had come in town and applied for a library job. Her first name was Khloe. If they had not been at each other over nothing important, they were being stubborn and argumentative. The part that bothered Raid the most was that his dog Duke was very fond of her, and he never was much attached to anyone but Raid. If his dog thought, she was a great person than he maybe she was. Then when his beloved dog became deathly sick, it was Khloe who fessed up to really being a veterinarian and she could save Duke's life. It's a miracle, but all the secrets of her past now come to light, and the reasons why she had been hiding away in the library in the small-town of Fallport. Raid also has been hiding secrets from his past, but this all brings Khloe & Raiden together. They know danger's coming, and he will protect her, and she will stand by him.
This is the 7th book of this series and I'm kind of going to miss it! The Epilogue is full of lots of closures, including Bigfoot! All 7 books could be read as standalone.
I love all things Susan Stoker and Searching For Khloe is no exception. The final book in the Eagle Point Search and Rescue series met every expectation and then some. It's emotional, tear inducing, ladened with the deep bonds of friendship and suspenseful. There are some anxious, edge of your seat moments along with a few heartwrenching scenarios. Having the ubiquitous Tex, Tonka from the Refuge and Rex from Mountain Mercenaries be part of the story only makes it better. The epilogue gives a wonderful peek into the future lives of the Eagle Point team, their women and their families fifteen years down the road.
Throughout this series we've learned very little about Raiden Walker other than he's former Coast Guard and has a bloodhound named Duke who's also part of the SAR team. Same goes for Khloe Moore. She's standoffish, quiet and keeps to herself. She works for Raiden at the library and they constantly snipe at one another. It's their love language. Both Khloe and Raid have closely held secrets that, through a series a circumstances, come to light whether they want them too or not when their pasts catch up with them. When their common bond, love of Duke, finally brings them together they find that they have much in common. Feelings grow deep quickly the more time they spend together. The citizens of Fallport rally and rise up to protect them from the threats being leveled.
Well shut the front door!!! What a perfect. Amazing , brilliant way to wrap up a series. Just loved it. We had double suspense from double directions. Wow, susan knows how to push angst into my knuckles and action in my ears. The H was a bit of a character suprise, he is a huge man with muscles everywhere yet wasn't an ominous threat. I thought the evil ones might have been intimidated, yet that never surfaced. It was just an oh so clever plotline, especially the way the suspense weaved in and out of knowing where it was going to end up. I actually enjoyed the quieter persona of the lumberjack lookalike. The underlying moral of everyday misgivings. Which is a Susan Stoker go to and is always done brilliantly. I'm a huge animal lover so this is the icing on a fantastic story. I think felt steel and daggers devastation more in Tonkas story. I'm such a huge fan of crossover characters and themes, hence why I live series. And this was the Bomb!!!! I don't want to give anything away but Tex, Rex, Refuge Tonka, Silverstone, and nightstalker rock stars Oh boy how exciting. The romance and courage of the H and h was swoony, the steam, smoothly created and the loyalty and friendship makes me wish Fallport was my town, or if I could find one. I just got all emotional when all the threads came together, it was beautiful. And that epilogue geeeez. Loved Jason Clarke and Lucy Rivers. Just fantastic narration. Thanks Susan Stoker for a great series and I remember the day I started listening to Lilly...wow time flies.
the best yet in this series! Khloe and Raid deserve all the love!
In the final book of the Eagle Point Search and Rescue series, we learn more about the two loaners. Raiden has always felt like an outcast. He keeps to himself. Khloe is in hiding by working as Raiden’s assistant at the library. She’s really a veterinarian and after she saves Duke, Raiden’s beloved dog, everything changes.
I wanted to hug Raiden so badly. He’s 6 foot 8 and talks about being made fun of his entire life for his height, red hair, and big ears. But Khloe thinks he’s so handsome. I love that Khloe realizes if anything is going to happen between them she’s going to have to make the first move. She’s one strong female! They are just perfect together.
And then there’s the bloodhound, Duke. I could just picture Duke in my head in every scene. What an adorable dog.
There are THREE threats to Khloe and Raid in this story. Yes. THREE. And it’s a wild ride.
The climax of this story was extremely intense. My heart was in my throat. Raid and Khloe in this life and death situation hurt my heart. But they were resilient and so smart, so strong. . . And the military rescue? Just wow.
And the epilogue? Emotional and such a satisfying conclusion.
I recommend this series, especially the audiobooks. Romantic suspense at its very best.
For a couple books now, I've wanted to know more about Khloe. She's with the group, but not, but that seems to be on her, not everyone else. With how this one opened, it was a surprising way to learn of her past. I loved that she let all the walls fall down for Duke and loved how when she told her past how everyone reacted, 100% behind her! I also loved how everyone stepped up to back Khloe in her bid to save Duke as she used the resources at hand. I knew the guy would get all butt hurt, but the way that he let that out was awful! Luckily, there was always a townsperson around to video it, post and soon that man did himself in with his actions and words. Ahhhh...karma, she so gets it right!!
As all of this was happening, it was fun to see Khloe and Raiden grow close and cross that line. Both deserved each other and all the happiness they found. I really loved how Raiden was there was Khloe as her past came back at her. So it was only right that Khloe was there for Raiden when his past came back at him. Both of them managed to keep a calm head and reach out to get the help that they needed.
The last chapter was great! Loved to see all the characters happy in the future and just living their lives surrounded by family and friends.
