Manic Pixie Dream Girl saves a toxic pro-golfer with the power of her 🐱
If this wasn’t a library book, I would have taken my nine iron to it. I hated this stupid book so much. HATED IT.
I tried to give Tessa one more chance after her egregious insult to Canadians hockey romance, but nope, I am done. This book was gross, like really gross, and I’m not talking about the ass eating, I mostly skipped that scene. This was gross on so many levels I’m going to have to rant in a bullet point list. Strap in everyone, Kristina has Thoughts and Feelings (most of them hate and rage).
1. The MMC, Wells, was extremely toxic and a huge red flag. He was not a grump, he was a violent alcoholic with suicidal ideation. Now there’s no shame in addiction or mental health representation, I welcome it, this was not that. He was presented in the narrative as a grump, not as someone needing help, and he never got any help beyond the ‘shrinking’ by the heroine. This was manic pixie dream girl on crack. She did all the emotional work in their relationship, and she used sex to heal him. He on the other hand was possessive past the point of controlling, telling her to stay in her hotel room and not go anywhere without him, managing her friendships with other caddies, hanging up on phone calls with her best friend and making threats to anyone who spoke to her. I was extremely put off by his character and their whole power dynamic (which I will get into more later). Tessa used to write more grumpy men with strong sensibilities and a good head on their shoulders, lately she writes these gender essentialistic masculine messes who the women characters have to fix. Then slaps a cute cover on her books and calls it romcom. I am not interested in this kind of story in romcom. No, thank you.
2. The FMC Josephine, though sweet and trying really hard, was not well developed and seemed to have two personality traits: her Type 1 diabetes and her mad horniness for the hero’s ass. Tessa kept presenting Josephine as a down on her luck diabetic (and by kept, I mean hammered that point home to the detriment of any other character development), but then had her following a pro golfer around Florida, attending PGA games as his fan, but also rationing her insulin and letting her health insurance lapse. Do you know how much it costs to attend a PGA game? At least $200 on the low end. So this dingbat is prioritizing her fangirling over her life. She didn’t want help or charity but she seemed wholly unable to manage her illness herself. Also, every conflict in the book was about her diabetes, it’s why (one reason) she was in dire straights, why she went to work for him, why she lied to her parents, why she had to prove herself, how she and he built trust, why he came running back to her etc. like every single thing was about her diabetes. If Tessa had showed her managing her diabetes in a sensible way and showed how she lived with her illness a few times, great, I’d have applauded this and been on board with the critique of the health care system in Florida. But yikes, there was nothing else to this girl other than that and her love of Wells’ hairy ass. Which brings us to…
3. Wells’ ass was a side character and all talk of it made me cringe so hard. He called his own ass a juicy peach. HIS OWN ASS, OUT LOUD! There were probably over 20 throw-up worthy mentions of his ‘plentiful posterior’ but after I hit 20, I just stopped counting.
4. The sex in this was transactional and I didn’t know if Josephine was his caddie or his sex worker at some points. The narrative ocellated wildly between ‘Josephine is the only female caddie on the PGA tour and she needs to prove she’s there for her golf expertise’ to ‘If you get an eagle on this next hole I will let you come inside me’. And honestly, any and all progress Wells made with his game seemed to be directly tied to the sexual favours she gave him as ‘rewards’ and not to any golf tips or course reading skills she had. It gave me major ick and Tessa did some serious word gymnastics near the end to try to convince the reader that the sex was *real* and that they were falling *in luuurve* but I was there Tessa, I read the parts where she offers him sex for performance. And since she took a 10% cut of his winnings, this was a sexual transaction. Stop trying to pretend it wasn’t now that they are in love and it looks and feels unsavoury.
Notice how above I didn’t even touch on the cringe sex? Ya, I read about two paragraphs of the first sex scene and just skipped the rest. It was decidedly not sexy or hot. 🤮
So Kristina, did you like anything at all about this book? Yes, I liked that he showered while she tossed his salad. Hygiene is important. 🥗 👅 🍑 🕳️ 👈🏻
Anyway, I’m done with Tessa, in the past I gave a few of her books four and five stars but I do not know what happened to her in the last two or so years. It’s like she’s trying to outdo herself on the explicit sex scenes and forgot that in a romcom, you actually need some rom and some com. This had zero of either.

Wow. That was wow. Probably the best Tessa Bailey book I have read.
Am gonna be honest here, I found this book to be like a letter to my past self who used to have a massive crush on her favorite athlete. When times were fun, easy, innocent and I was completely smitten by that man. I found this book making me yearn for that part of me and reminisce about that crush, if that makes sense 😅

The book begins with us meeting Wells and Josephine at the sport. Wells is someone who has lost his will to play, he hasn't been in form for two years. He's depressed and self destructive. In comes, Josephine who is his biggest fan and sadly the only support system he has. When things happen, Josephine finds herself getting employed by the guy she has admired.
Wells, is a bad boy golfer. He's grumpy, broody and doesn't get along with anyone but her. He doesn't want to talk to anyone but her. Despite pushing her away, he finds him attracted to her and I loved that. He's the type of guy who hates the world, doesn't have eyes for anyone except for her. I loved how hard he fell for her and he worked on his issues. The glow up was worth it!! And don't even get me started on the dirty talk 🫣🥵
Josephine is so funny, caring and selfless. She also has type 1 diabetes but that's not all for her. She's running a business, taking care of her parents and giving it all to get Wells back in form. She is so witty with her comebacks, and doesn't hold back from giving it to Wells and speaking the truth. As a former fangirl, I found her to be extremely relatable in that aspect. You go bestie and get your man 😩 She living my dream fr.
The romance is so well written. The chemistry is off the charts and the characters hit it off well instantly. There were so many moments when I was giggling, blushing and kicking my feet. The spice was juicyyyy 👀 and I loved seeing them fall in love with each other.
The reason why it's 4.5 stars is cause the second half was a tad weak compared to the first half. But the ending picked it back up and it was super sweet.
Have you ever crushed on an athlete hard? Then this is a book you don't wanna miss 👀🤭

Do you know why giving this book a 4 stars made me more happy than giving, lets say Happy Place a five star? Because this four star meant that Tessa Bailey still has it in her to write good romance novels, especially good sports romances. I was so scared that I would not like it because It happened one summer is my favorite romance book and I did not want to give up on the author who gave me that masterpiece, like I don't think I have ever given any author this many chances because brooo I gave three of her book 1 star and two of them were |DNF's| 💀💀
Tessa Bailey here was completely different. She made me realize why I loved her other book and how much I enjoyed reading it and tbh some of her books are way too hated. It felt like this was by the author who wrote ITHOS but it was so different from it happened one summer. The two things that I liked the most about this book related to her writing was how there was no third act break up and how it was a mix between slow burn and Insta-lust, the balance was so well done.

Josephine 'I tattooed his name on my toes' Belle' was the perfect embodiment of us fans and she got what we all daydream of having. Her whole inner monologue was so funny and relatable and I really liked her loyalty and determination towards Wells, how she never gave up on him and how she made him a better person, helped him realize what were the important things in his life. However, I did get annoyed with her a tad bit at the end part because without spoiling so much she got didn't realize why he did what he did but got mad at what he did. Trust it makes sense with context.

Wells 'I hate everyone but her' Whitaker was the man 😌🤌 He did everything for her. That man literally gave her half his earning. He was gentle with her, he was down bad and omg the banter between them.. especially him dirty talking LMAOO. Also, loved how he realized and appreciated Josephine for bringing out a better version of him because not many characters do that and I loved how he was willing to let go of Josephine just so she could do what she wanted and him saying "I love you Josephine." "There wont be anyone for him after her. she would be his last and only love" was just🤌🤌 god how does Tessa write such good men.
"You're wearing a uniform with my name on it, belle. There is nothing hotter."
The romance was actually perfect. Tessa checked all the boxes here. You get banter, angst, slow-burn but also lust and if that wasn't enough we get characters who care for each other and love each other. Who are willing to help each other be the best versions of themselves and that is literally what Wells and Josephine did. Also, Tessa writes such hot smutty scene because oh my days ! that was so fucking hot but also what was the ass eating scene Tessa? LMAOO
“I just…have this pretty intense need to make sure everyone knows you’re very fucking important. Okay? Could you kindly just go along with it?”
The plot, now this was the most surprising for me because Tessa Baileys plot in most of her books are all over the place and sometimes rushed, sometimes prolonged and sometimes just boring and also from past experience- reading same time next year made me think that this book would not deliver on the sports part cuz there was barely anything there but the sports area here was very well explored and I was satisfied to see a plot line being explored as well.

Oh boy, Tessa Bailey's new sports series is a love song to my brooding soul, making me appreciate a sport I was less interested in—she even managed to make golf enjoyable! But most importantly, it made me giggle like a schoolgirl every time I read the endearing interactions between Wells and his "Belle" Josephine. This saucy, sexy, steamy love story left me feeling incredibly good!
The high chemistry, palpable attraction, verbal connection, and intimacy were perfect! Tessa Bailey couldn't have written the grumpy-meets-the-sunshine trope better than this. The opposites-attract, love-at-the-workplace, forced-proximity tropes are also blended seamlessly into their adorable love story.
Wells Whitaker, a struggling golf star slowly losing his rising position, abandoned by sponsors, his agent, and his fans, finds solace in the beautiful, sunny redhead always positioned on the sidelines, carrying the "Wells's Belle" sign and adamant about not leaving him alone. Josephine Doyle may be the only person who truly believes in him. But one day, he lets her go, and as soon as the words leave his mouth, he realizes he made a big mistake. Following her in the midst of a disaster where a flood ruins her family business and she didn't pay for insurance due to spending the money on urgent medical issues (she suffers from type 1 diabetes, and you can guess how much insulin injections cost).
For the first time in his life, Wells learns to be selfless and makes her an offer to become his caddie to return to the tournament. Wells can get the moral support he needs, focusing on a second chance, while Josephine can save enough money for the repair costs of their family store. They can both benefit from this arrangement. But what if this isn't the only benefit they can get when sparks keep flying, and each second it becomes harder to keep their hands off each other?
Wells seems like a brooding man inclined to self-sabotage, but what if he is only looking for one person who truly believes in him, which could be a game-changer? What if he's hiding a big, caring heart under his rough facade? As soon as Josephine sees his true self, she knows she's doomed. What will she do when their arrangement finalizes? Can she say her goodbyes, even though she's falling for him just as hard as he's falling for her?
I loved this book! I'm also eagerly looking forward to reading the second book in the "Big Shots" series, where we've already been introduced to best friend Tallulah and hot daddy Burgess. I'm already intrigued. I think this series is my new addiction!

Wells can get the moral support he needs, focusing on a second chance, while Josephine can save enough money for the repair costs of their family store. They can both benefit from this arrangement. But what if this isn't the only benefit they can get when sparks keep flying, and each second it becomes harder to keep their hands off each other?
Wells seems like a brooding man inclined to self-sabotage, but what if he is only looking for one person who truly believes in him, which could be a game-changer? What if he's hiding a big, caring heart under his rough facade? As soon as Josephine sees his true self, she knows she's doomed. What will she do when their arrangement finalizes? Can she say her goodbyes, even though she's falling for him just as hard as he's falling for her?
I loved this book! I'm also eagerly looking forward to reading the second book in the "Big Shots" series, where we've already been introduced to best friend Tallulah and hot daddy Burgess. I'm already intrigued. I think this series is my new addiction!

i was conflicted about how to rate this and landed on 2.5 stars because I did binge it in less than a day — that's got to count for something right? unfortunately the experience was largely forgettable for me, I wish I could say I loved it but I'm definitely the outlier here.
reasons this fell short for me:
— the spice was marginally better than my killer vacation but I found myself wanting to skip some of these scenes (and I love spice). the dialogue was so cringy! the salad tossing is a topic of debate on other reviews i've seen — this wasn't my issue with the book but it did feel like it was only added for shock value.
— insta love is always going to be a miss for me and this man was thirsty straight away. his pov was a giant red flag and it triggered my fight or flight from the start. any man that love bombs like this needs therapy. their relationship felt transactional and I struggled to feel anything between them other than lust. lust is not love!!
— protectiveness or controlling? the mmc was an asshole for the majority of this book and lacked any redeeming qualities. he refused to let someone so much as look at her, speak to her etc which I would sometimes regard as hot but he's not a mafia/bad boy. it had the opposite effect on me, he was not hot enough to be acting this way. when he grabbed her phone and hung up her call to her best friend, I was done.
—the power dynamic. fangirl/athlete was always going to be a hard trope to pull off. there's obviously a imbalance between the two when she had spent 5 years following him around and attending all of his games from the sidelines (she did not know him personally). Tessa attempted to combat this by telling, rather than showing, that the mmc felt a connection to her despite this dynamic. I didn't buy it. he knew she wanted to have serious career and was conscious of the public eye and he'd acknowledge that and two seconds later he was trying to get up her skirt again (where people could see). he didn't seem to respect her career or her choices and the whole thing just felt icky to me as he heavily relied on her to improve his image and professional career.
the series did have some emotional depth with the individual characters but overall, the two of them together were very much surface level and this was spice over plot. there was opportunity to explore the mmc's mental health and behaviour, but instead it opted for a 'sex for favours' approach from the fmc in order to get him to do the career he wanted...
this book is 100% intended to be a lighthearted read, with minimal reflection required. while it didn't work for me, it will definitely work for others. i'll still continue this series for a couple reasons - I received an arc for the second book which is due to release next month. it's single dad x nanny trope which i've had some luck with before, so hopefully that'll be the one to win me over!

i’m a bit impressed to say the least. it’s been a hot minute since i read tessa bailey and i did not expect this book to be missing an absurd third act breakup. it didn’t even curve into the infamous miscommunication arc that this author apparently used to adore. i loved the protagonists, their hilarious and affectionate banter and beautifully drawn relationship accented with their well sens communication. she even managed to wash off Golf of its boring aura and made it appear as an entertaining and exciting sports to enhance this story! the rating is more of a-me-thing because i read the book through several days and therefore wasn’t able to get fully into the story on some levels plus it felt a bit dragged at some point. all in all, it was a cute read ! worked perfectly as plate cleanser.

Ok. THIS. Is the BEST sports romance I've read in a really long time. Mental health representation in men, chronic illness struggles representation in women, very much an opposites attract romance which I'm pretty much always going to love. This was perfection. NOT TO MENTION I LAUGHED SO MANY TIMES!!!!
THOUGHTS:
- Having never read a golf romance - I genuinely wasn't sure what to expect. My mind goes straight to thinking about Tiger Woods, the cheater.... But now.. I have a renewed respect for the sport... and tight golf pants on bootylicious golfers :D
- I also loved the main character's relationship. It didn't feel like insta-love even though the timeline was somewhat short, and their reasoning for being together I could see on both sides.
- Our heroine, Josephine, is the kind of girl you want to be friends with - but also a woman I'd admire. She doesn't allow her emotions to overtake her and thinks of her future more than just her relationship. It takes an incredibly strong woman to do that!!!
- Wells is my favorite type of MC. Kind of standoffish to the world but growly in the bedroom/sweet to his girl all the other times.
The last two romances I loved this much were Caught Up by Liz Tomforde and Book Lovers by Emily Henry!!!
I read this book every spare second I had because it's that good!! The next book in the series comes out in 2024 as well, and I'm dying to snag an early copy of that as well! I need to read all about this kind of love in book 2!!

But. It was so cute!! Folks, I was extremely worried that not only was this a sports romance, but GOLF?!?! Two surefire ways for me to immediately fall asleep? Alcohol and golf. I truly cannot think of a sport that is as much of a snoozefest for me as golf. Thankfully, the romance was ROMANCING and omg did I find myself imagining life as a caddie to hot, grumpy pro golfer 🤭
Josephine and Wells made such complete sense as a couple. I adored how she broke down his grumpy shell, and his self-awareness growth was beyond admirable. The way he was the first person not to treat her as fragile as glass? And not only that, but how he wasn’t afraid to rough handle her???? Ohhhh my 🧎🏻♀️😮💨 This man cared about his woman to a WHOLE new book boyfriend level and I promise it’ll make you swoon so bad.
That being said, my biggest annoyance was how dependent on each other they became. Wells’s thoughts were borderline ick how much he was obsessed with and would cling to Josephine. Don’t get me wrong, I love me a man obsessed. But stage 5 Clingers are far from my thing.
I am SUPER excited to see Tallulah’s story next! I loved how Bailey set up the next book in the series, though I do also dislike hockey so my fingers are crossed it’s another sports-light romance lol.

Another enjoyable read from TB! Gotta give her props because if there is anything that will convince me to watch golf, it's this book. But still unlikely 😅
I liked Josephine as our FMC, and I gotta say there have been a ton of recent FMC's dealing with diabetes. Love to see the representation and the emotional struggles that come with it 💚
And Wells was your typical grumpy MMC who just gets absolutely shit whipped into falling in love, and I honestly don't enjoy many things more than that.
I will say I think their relationship went from 0-100 pretty fast, but this was super entertaining nonetheless!

This book is supposed to be a romance between a golf player and his biggest fan but it’s actually a horror about the American healthcare industry which cheerfully lets people die if they can’t afford life-saving medication which was patented for $1 and is sold for astronomical amounts by people who profit off of malfunctioning pancreases. Get fucked, American healthcare. (The romance was fine, they have sex on a golf cart which sounds uncomfortable but they seemed to have fun.)

I keep telling myself to be lenient and give this 2 stars. But the line "Champagne is for women" has taken permanent residency in the 'I'd Rather Die' tapestry of my brain.
He's rich, she's poor. He's famous, she's nobody. He's the celebrity, she's the fan. He's healthy, she has a chronic illness. He's a certified asshole and she's...a fool??
Y'all, I've typed and erased so so so many paragraphs about how I commend Tessa Bailey's research into diabetes but also hate the way she utilizes it. I don't know how to put it succinctly. Just know that I despise a diabetic being seen as needy and pathetic. I detest when their disease is weaponized by someone else as a 'sympathy vote'. I want to VOMIT when a love interest says their lover is "brave" for having diabetes. Brave? You think there was a choice involved? I would gladly trade bodies with you any day. This isn't a choice. It's a chronic disease I would so ANYTHING to be rid of. Surviving isn't an accolade. It's just instinct.
Apologies, even with rewriting this numerous times, I still get heated.

This is my favorite book Tessa has written in years (and I've loved them all, but damn). It really felt like OG Tessa. I highlighted so much. I laughed out loud. And what the fuck, the dirty talk was next level.
Wells is something else. And THERE'S RIMMING, y'all. And not the direction you'd expect.
My only complaint is that I didnt consent to learning so much about golf. But my husband said he'd actually read this so...that's gonna be weird for me.

This book was so good! This was a steamy and sweet sports romance about chasing your dreams, rediscovering your passions, never giving up and finding true love. Fangirl Down follows Josephine, who is the biggest fan of Wells, a famous golfer but has recently been struggling with his game. Then Wells wants to make a deal, decide to be his caddie and he'll split the money. Josephine jumps to the chance for more money since her golf shop needs work and she has to pay for medical insurance. What happens when she takes the job, will they find love or just a professional relationship?
"I love you too. So much. I think deep down, i had faith we'd be together again, because love like ours doesn't just go away. It cuts through everything. It's a start-to-finish kind of love."
I became invested in the story from the very beginning. The pacing was well done and the plot was interesting throughout. There was one situation where I was frustrated with the characters, but they made up for it. There were several great tropes including grumpy/sunshine, she falls first but he falls harder, workplace romance, and more. The characters are complex and relatable. I love Josephine, she's strong, resilient, optimistic, independent, hardworking, caring and protective of the people she loves. I relate to Josephine because I never give up even when something is challenging. Josephine's character development was excellent, she became more confident in herself and realized how resilient she is. I love Wells so much, he is hardworking, charming, resilient, protective, and is so sweet to Josephine. Wells' character development was great, he rediscovered his passion and he learned to be a better person. I loved how sweet Wells was to Josephine, he was such a teddy bear and he worshipped her. He is so swoon worthy, I was giggling and blushing at many of the things he said and did for Josephine. I really liked the side characters especially Josephine's parents and Tallulah. The chemistry and tension between Wells and Josephine was great! I really enjoyed their relationship, they understood each other and were there for each other in difficult situations. The spice was off the charts, I was blushing so much. I really enjoyed the diabetes representation in this book, it was well done and the author discussed it in a realistic way. The writing was fun and engaging. The ending was so sweet, I'm so happy it ended on a happy note!

This book was so good! This was a steamy and sweet sports romance about chasing your dreams, rediscovering your passions, never giving up and finding true love. Fangirl Down follows Josephine, who is the biggest fan of Wells, a famous golfer but has recently been struggling with his game. Then Wells wants to make a deal, decide to be his caddie and he'll split the money. Josephine jumps to the chance for more money since her golf shop needs work and she has to pay for medical insurance. What happens when she takes the job, will they find love or just a professional relationship?
"I love you too. So much. I think deep down, i had faith we'd be together again, because love like ours doesn't just go away. It cuts through everything. It's a start-to-finish kind of love."
I became invested in the story from the very beginning. The pacing was well done and the plot was interesting throughout. There was one situation where I was frustrated with the characters, but they made up for it. There were several great tropes including grumpy/sunshine, she falls first but he falls harder, workplace romance, and more. The characters are complex and relatable. I love Josephine, she's strong, resilient, optimistic, independent, hardworking, caring and protective of the people she loves. I relate to Josephine because I never give up even when something is challenging. Josephine's character development was excellent, she became more confident in herself and realized how resilient she is. I love Wells so much, he is hardworking, charming, resilient, protective, and is so sweet to Josephine. Wells' character development was great, he rediscovered his passion and he learned to be a better person. I loved how sweet Wells was to Josephine, he was such a teddy bear and he worshipped her. He is so swoon worthy, I was giggling and blushing at many of the things he said and did for Josephine. I really liked the side characters especially Josephine's parents and Tallulah. The chemistry and tension between Wells and Josephine was great! I really enjoyed their relationship, they understood each other and were there for each other in difficult situations. The spice was off the charts, I was blushing so much. I really enjoyed the diabetes representation in this book, it was well done and the author discussed it in a realistic way. The writing was fun and engaging. The ending was so sweet, I'm so happy it ended on a happy note!
I recommend this book to anyone who loves sports romance, great characters, and amazing chemistry between the characters.

However, I struggled to find the sex scenes and drawn-out angst in the second half of the story engaging, so my attention eventually waned.

I’ll be honest, my expectations for this were low - like on the floor. I was fully prepared for this to be another overhyped dud, but in this case, I was happy to be wrong. I have now read ten of Tessa’s books and while reading her work, I have often felt that the balance was a little off. Too many explicit scenes (yes, there is such thing as too much smut), sex between the MC’s too quickly (like fast enough that you’d probably call the police if someone tried that IRL), too many cheesy lines that made me roll my eyes, etc.
In Fangirl Down, Tessa got the formula just right. The romance was beautifully written and progressed at just the right speed. They fell for each other quickly, but they had known each other prior so it did not feel like insta love. Sure, it had its cheesy moments, but they did not detract from the story. He was head over heels for her and I was here for it. Healthy adult relationships in books are sexy - we love to see it 🙌🏻.
Happy to report that Tessa has at least two great books out there. I will definitely pick up the sequel! I believe Tessa Bailey may have found her niche in sports romance.

omg! this book was such a great read for me! i had high expectations with this book, and it did not disappoint!
౨ৎ josephine. i'd like to think that all fans can somehow relate to her because of her undying love for wells even though everyone lost their hope and turned their back on him. josephine definitely give puppy vibes, where she'll be extremely loyal to you if you're nice to her, and once you earned it, she'd always have your back!
౨ৎ wells. this man was grumpy af not until josephine came to turn his life around. he really wanted to end his career, not until josephine became his caddie because he wanted to help her! he did everything he can to help and protect her, but not to the point where her efforts as his caddie would not be acknowledge by other people. i'm so happy that he's fully aware he became a better person because of josephine. he's literally down bad!
overall, i loved this book! this was the first sports romance i've read where the sport was gold. it was really entertaining! the chemistry, banter, and love of the mmcs was so good!

Tessa Bailey is always hit or miss for me, and let me tell you, Fangirl Down is a HIT. I loved this sweet and steamy he falls harder, grumpy x sunshine, sports romcom. The story follows Wells, a grumpy pro golfer down on his luck, and Josephine, his biggest fan. After his most recent golfing blunder, Wells finally decides it's time to quit and cut ties with his loyalist fan. However, when he learns that her family business was ruined by the recent hurricane, Wells offers Josephine a chance to caddy his last tournament and make some money to repair her shop.
This book made me giddy... I kid you not I was squealing like a child and kicking my feet because how, how, how, did Tessa Bailey write this adorable crack-filled romance? Wells went from a complete grump to a downright mess when he realized his feelings for Josephine and it was so cute how he was quite literally at her mercy the whole time. The two had such a fun banter and vibe throughout the romance that the serious moments really shined and offered so much layer to their characters. While this romance may not be revolutionary or deep in any way, I think if you want something sweet and fun, full of chemistry, steam, hilarity, and a feral for her MC, this book might be for you!

another romance by tessa and another disappointment. i wanted to believe that bad writing, character development, storytelling and world building were just an accident in “my killer vacation” but sadly no. this book was dry with no emotions, every dialogues was purely written and had no sense. main characters were acting like children and had no chemistry.
josephine was describes as a fan, but was she really? she acted around wells way too easy and friendly; there was no difference in her acting with her friends, family and him. maybe not everyone would freak out when you get to live with your celebrity crush, but still👀🤷🏼♀️
wells was annoying but also nice... i appreciate him wanting to help josephine but his cringy lines were killing me. i was dying in my room reading his “flirting lines” because you can’t convince me that man actually talk like that in their 30s.
sadly or not, i won’t be picking up any tessa’s books anytime soon!

I don’t think I would have picked this up on my own. Mostly because I’ve read Tessa Bailey before and didn’t like it and also, this is a golf romance?!
But I’m so glad I tried it anyway.
Wells and Josephine were great characters, and they had amazing chemistry.
I liked Wells a lot, even though he was down bad from the beginning, and I’m not always into that, it just worked here. His character development throughout this story was excellent, best I’ve seen in a while in a sports romance.
Josephine was the real star of this story for me, though, I loved her. The way she was such a positive influence on him, helped him be a better person all around while also just being her funny, loyal, considerate, thoughtful self and dealing with diabetes? Truly unmatched.
There were some things I disliked, but in the end I don’t really care because I had a great time! <3

It was a fun time, cringy in parts. The romance wasn’t all that great, it had no real depth tbh. They had chemistry, it was basically just flirting and then smut from there. Her eating his ass really turned me off 🫣🤣
But overall it was fun, had me laughing and it did have its cute moments!!

the more i see this book it makes me irrationally angry 😂 i hated this book so much and i really tried convincing myself it was worth 2.5 😭
2.5 rounded up for the bits of this that i did enjoy
i want to start by saying, i definitely think this will be great for a lot of other people but it was not great for me. it started off so promising but about halfway in fell completely flat. i gave up at 76% percent bc i am bored out of my mind. its entirely too insta-love from the get go which was fine at first but there was like zero depth in this relationship, the smut is cringe beyond belief, and quite frankly i just don’t think there is any sort of really plot everything about this just feels surface level. i also feel as though wells gave off heavy coercion vibes? before making their relationship official there is technically a break up initiated by josephine, she lays down strict ground rules that they need to stop what theyre doing bc she wants to be taken seriously in the pro golf world. immediately he doesnt really care that she said no or to follow what she wants. then a week later he is once again ignoring her wishes and is back to convincing her to have sex with him.
basically to sum it up, it was good until it wasn’t. there were too many random moments through out that just absolutely ruined everything for me.
i’ve reached a point where i no longer can tell if its a “its you, not me” thing when it comes to TB books. i dont know if maybe im just not her target audience but i do believe its time i give up on trying to make myself like her books.

Judging from the hype of this book...I'm the odd one out here.
I finally get what my problem is - It's not her writing no no, her writing is good (ahem especially the spice scenes) but HER PLOT- Bro they never made sense to me. I have read the killer vacation by her before...gave it two stars. This book was your second and maybe last chance and YOU FAILED, TESSA BAILEY.
The whole fangirl concept doesn't sit with me...Even if he was famous long time ago, there's no way still that she is HIS ONLY FAN. But then again, I don't even know the G of Golf so can't be sure.
Also, How can a celebrity you've been fangirling for so long shows up and you just act normal?? I wouldn't - I'd probably go ballistic and scream and dance like a little puppy with its tongue sticking. And if you're imagining this- stop.
Like I know, she was mad at him but still. Maybe I need to learn to turn off my logic brain while reading these romance novels 😭😭 especially Tessa Baileys (Also this is not a spoiler, cause it's given in the blurb)
Okay- This part of the book had me so weirded out like 😭😭 Tessa Bailey has some weird obsession with asses cause the amount of detailed description is unasked for 😭😭

Also the name Burgess?? Sounded more like the name of a burger franchise. And the next book is about BURGESS and Tallulah? Even if I was planning to read it, there's no way I am now 👀

Fangirl Down is a golf romance revolving around Josephine and Wells. Well was the “star boy” of the golf world until his drinking and temper started his downfall. Josephine was his dedicated fan, always there even when all his other fans and support had abandoned him. Wells had given up and completely quit golf, but couldn’t get his biggest fan, Josephine out of his head. After a hurricane hit Josephine’s family’s golf shop, she found herself without any money or way to repair the damage until Wells tracks her down. Wells makes her an offer she can’t refuse to fix all her problems but as the pair start to get closer, things definitely start to heat up.
I went into this book extremely skeptic. I don’t like golf in my everyday life, and the amount of tropes made me incredibly nervous about the book overall. Boy, was I wrong. I LOOOOVED THIS BOOK. Tessa Bailey’s best work to date.

Fangirl Down is a golf romance revolving around Josephine and Wells. Well was the “star boy” of the golf world until his drinking and temper started his downfall. Josephine was his dedicated fan, always there even when all his other fans and support had abandoned him. Wells had given up and completely quit golf, but couldn’t get his biggest fan, Josephine out of his head. After a hurricane hit Josephine’s family’s golf shop, she found herself without any money or way to repair the damage until Wells tracks her down. Wells makes her an offer she can’t refuse to fix all her problems but as the pair start to get closer, things definitely start to heat up.
I went into this book extremely skeptic. I don’t like golf in my everyday life, and the amount of tropes made me incredibly nervous about the book overall. Boy, was I wrong. I LOOOOVED THIS BOOK. Tessa Bailey’s best work to date.
