“The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck" is a modern fairytale that combines the charm of "Pretty Woman" with the whimsy of "The Princess Bride." It takes readers on an endearing and entertaining journey into the life of Lilah Goodluck, who inadvertently saves the life of a witch and clairvoyant named Good Witch Willow. Little does Lilah know that this good deed will set her on a path filled with unexpected twists and supernatural predictions.

After rescuing Willow, the clairvoyant reveals a series of unsettling prophecies for Lilah. These predictions include revelations about infidelity, the identity of her supposed soulmate (Alistair George Arthur Lennox), missing out on a promotion, winning lottery numbers, and the shocking prospect of her impending death next Sunday.

At first, Lilah finds these predictions too absurd to believe. How could her seemingly sick boyfriend be cheating on her? But her life takes a sudden turn when she has an unexpected encounter with Alistair, akin to the classic moments in movies like "Sliding Doors" or "Bridget Jones's Diary." Strike one!

Things take another unfortunate turn when her unappreciative and exploitative boss unjustly awards a coveted promotion to someone else. Strike two!

As Lilah's world unravels further, she finds herself in a car accident, coming dangerously close to colliding with an Aston Martin. To her astonishment, the other driver turns out to be none other than Alistair George Arthur Lennox, the very man Willow foresaw as her soulmate. Can this really be happening?

Stunned by these peculiar events, Lilah seeks refuge in checking the lottery numbers, only to discover that she's now considerably richer. However, the ominous prediction of her impending death next Sunday lingers over her. She refuses to accept her fate and starts compiling a bucket list, just in case the prediction proves true. Instead of succumbing to despair or outright denial, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery and adventure. She also finds an unexpected companion in Prince Charming Alistair, who is determined to help her tick items off her bucket list.

Alistair sweeps Lilah off her feet and takes her on a whirlwind tour, including a scenic drive along the Pacific Highway, a visit to Ladyship Helen for absinthe, and an exquisite meal at Helen's house, thanks to her insistence on spiritual cleansing. While the paparazzi believe Lilah to be Alistair's latest conquest, she gradually uncovers the caring, sweet, and somewhat enigmatic man beneath his aloof exterior. What if the predictions were right, and they are indeed soulmates? Can their budding relationship withstand the impending royal scandal, the relentless paparazzi, and the grim prediction of Lilah's impending death?

Overall, the romantic aspects of Lilah and Alistair's relationship may seem a tad rushed, but this book offers a delightful fairytale experience where a quirky librarian meets a bad boy in a rebound scenario before finding true love. The story is a fast-paced and thoroughly enjoyable read, with captivating supporting characters, particularly the endearing Lady Helen. As a devoted fan of Kylie Scott's works, I wholeheartedly recommend "The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck" to anyone seeking an escape from reality and a lighthearted romance that will leave you with a smile.

I don’t know how this one flew under my radar, but I had no idea Kylie Scott had released a new book this year. I enjoyed the premise of this book and Scott’s writing is always great. Lilah was a great FMC and the hero was good too, honestly I never felt much of a connection between the two main characters. The story was fun and I liked the way it ended, I just wanted more between them.

This book is an easy 5 ⭐️ for me.

I went into the book blind, wrongly thinking it was gonna be a so so read.

NOPE. I WAS WRONG.

This book is fast-paced, no unnecessary scenes and every scene between the leads got me in the FEELS.

I was GIGGLING SMILING CHOKING ON MY OWN LAUGHTER.

The blurb at the back really got me going DAMN I WANNA KNOW WHATS GONNA HAPPEN IN THIS BOOK.

Lilah, our sexy curvy blondy, met a psychic that gave her 5 predictions. One of them is : she has a week to live.

Another one is her soulmate's fullname. Allistair Green Flag Sexy Lennox.

Imagine thinking those predictions are lies but when the first 3 happened - she panicked.

Then she met Allistair. God, ALLISTAIR. He's charming in such a manly (dominant yums) way. He's stern, protective but not the too alpha shit protective. He's well balanced and yes, I want to marry him. Thanks.

The way these two go from strangers met after a road accident to two strangers being curious with one each other to almost friends and then to something they cant define. BUT GOD I LOVE THEM.

Lilah has a sense of humor and sooo likeable. Knowing she had 7 days to live, she made a list of things she wanna do.

Guess what, Allistair, the charming man albeit his 20% grumpy ass took one look at the lisr and literally decided HE WILL GET ALL THOSE DONE FOR HER. We love a man that walk his talks 🥹

He remembers everything on her list and that got me in my feels 😭

The way they tiptoed around each other as "friends" but damn this man is only 50% subtle with his jealousy. I really like that he did not go all mad and angry with his jealousy. He wasnt subtle but he shows it, discreetly. Ugh so CUTE.

And oh, did I mention he's a royal blood ehek. Has a black Amex. One of Lilah's wishes is to experience Julia Robert's iconic scene in The Pretty Woman. Well guess what ? 🤩

I just love how the tension builds between them. Like slowly, gently but it hits right in the feels. The angst was enough to get my heart to squeeze painfully but the way they communicate is like a balm to those pain. I love it.

They communicate well despite the angst and sexual tension hovering.

Will I be reading more of this author's work? HELL YES.

When Lilah Goodluck saves the life of Good Witch Willow, the witch rewards her by revealing four predictions that happen within 24 hours.

1) Her boyfriend will cheat on her (true)
2) She will get passed over for a promotion (true)
3) She will win the lottery (true)
4) Her new soulmate will be the illegitimate son of the British king (true)

Prediction #5 is extra and it's troubling.

The witch tells Lilah that she will be dead in one week.

Will this really happen?

(All of the witch's other predictions did!)

I loved the premise of this fast-paced and endearing rom-com.

It was refreshingly different and sizzled and soared.

WHY NOT 5 STARS?
I prefer PG-rated rom-coms and this book showcased waaay too many sexually explicit details.

I lost track of how many times the author used the word "dick".

(Was that really necessary?)

I listened to the audiobook read by Andi Arndt, who did a superb job with the narration.

This book had a premise that really hooked me, but was not the story I wanted to read.

Scanning the synopsis led me to believe that this was a book about how a young woman (Lilah) is prophesized only to have nine days to live and with that, either tries to thwart her destiny or live her remaining days to the fullest. And it ended up being a strange version of the latter (sort of).

I thought Lilah was a great female lead, full of wit and personality and independence and a very clear list of things she wanted to do before she "dies", but this really only lasted until she met Alistair, the "love interest" of the story. Because after she meets him, almost all of her last wishes go out the window as she slowly starts to fall for him and is consumed by his "world". She even eventually says that she's thrown away her list of things to do before she dies so she can be with him. And that should've been fine. To spend one's supposed last days with someone they love is a completely valid and beautiful sentiment. Unless your loved one is a moody, snobby, practically affection-less, uncommunicative, rich, alpha-male prick whose only positive trait is that he's ridiculously handsome. And there's probably some nice theme buried in there that Lilah helped break down his emotional walls and they learn how to love each other for who they are, but it just turned into some weird-ass wannabe 50 Shades of Grey fan-fic. That's probably too harsh but that's sure what it felt like.

Their relationship was not portrayed in a way that made me want to root for them and watch their love blossom; Alistair was deeply controlling and again, I feel like Lilah gave up everything for him because he was a means to fund some of her last adventures AND because he was hot. There was little to no depth to their connection which was the BASIS OF THE WHOLE ENTIRE PLOT. I could rant about this for a while so I'll boil it down to this: there are very good love stories where one person is very deeply flawed and doesn't really know how to go about a relationship because of past traumas but the other person sees them as someone worthy of their love because they just need a little help breaking free from their bonds; this was not that story. They try to make Alistair sympathetic because he is the bastard son of some British king I could not give a single rat's ass about and he had a hard childhood being famous and in the public eye while also not being acknowledged by his father. This soon becomes the main story, pushing Lilah's impending doom (i.e. the far more interesting storyline) completely aside, which is also resolved so lazily and terribly.

I don't think this is an awful book. The writing was witty and detailed (and at times very graphic), but it just seems like the author pursued the wrong thread for everything she set up. I definitely was not the target audience but I feel like that shouldn't matter. The main romantic relationship left a bad taste in my mouth and that made it hard to care about anything that was happening around it. It's a very casual and quick read made more for daydreaming than any significant emotional impact.

It was an interesting premise with a bad execution. It was okay at first, focusing on the deadline and things she wished to do and the LI around. The couple was doing well as friends and then he started insisting on sex and having feelings too fast, and then there were like 4 sex scenes I had to skim because the couple had no chemistry. It felt like the story got derailed and focused way too much on the LI's daddy issues. The MC didnt really deal with her own issues so the whole thing felt shallow, predictable, and rushed.

4.5 STARS!

Loved it! I have a thing for books where one half of the couple is a celebrity and this really hit the spot. Kylie Scott's sense of humour meshes with mine so perfectly, and the narrator's delivery took the story to another level.😂

Normally I'm not the biggest fan of trying to cram a supernatural element into a book with a contemporary setting, but it didn't bother me here. I really appreciated it as a plot driver.

Great heat, humour, and characters; I couldn't ask for more!

This is my new favorite Kylie Scott novel. The banter between the 2 MCs is next level, and it is a superb example of my favorite trope of normal girl/famous guy.
Plus, they are both intelligent characters, and there's no embarrassing the heroine for the plots sake.

Definitely recommend.

4 stars!

This is such a fun read! A sweet and easy romance with great characters, fantastic banter and chemistry, and a uniquely entertaining story.

When Lilah saves the life of a “good” witch, she is given five unwanted predictions:

“Be quiet and listen: He is cheating on you. The name of your soulmate is Alistair George Arthur Lennox. You will be passed over for the promotion. The winning numbers are 5-8-12-24-39-43. And I’m very sorry to tell you this, but you will die next Sunday.”

She doesn’t believe in such things and blows it off, but then she has a near miss car accident with Alistair Lennox, illegitimate son of the King of England, her supposed soulmate. When three of the other predictions come true, she has to face up to the possibility that maybe Alistair is the man for her, especially when he keeps popping up in her life. Too bad she only has a week to live.

It’s such a fun set-up, and when Lilah fills Alistair in on the predictions (which he also dismisses as nonsense), and her need to quickly work her way through a hastily-drawn-up bucket list, he offers to help her. And so we get a series of fun and epic moments as Alistair helps her live her dreams. They form a fast friendship, they talk openly and honestly about everything, and attraction quickly blossoms. It’s natural and easy, and I love how they don’t hide anything from each other. They own it, and they just go with it as they fall for each other so unexpectedly.

There’s an element of fairy tale with this book, which gives the story a fun twist, as well as some royal encounters, some sweetly profound moments as Lilah faces her mortality, and hilarious bonding moments with Lennox’s fabulous and filterless scene-stealing mother. This book had me laughing out loud a number of times.

It’s a quick moving story, lighthearted, sexy and romantic with great dialogue, and the perfect escape read.

I loved it – 4 stars.

This was quite a cute and funny read. It me laughing out loud many times.

I didn't feel that it was too spicy, although it's been a long time since I've read a Kylie Scott book and so don't recall her normal level of spiciness. Definitely wouldn't add this one to my smokin hot read shelf. 😉

Obviously this book takes place over a short period of time, one week but I found the love between them believable. We really got to see them get to know each other over this span of time, although, I'm not saying that is all it takes but it was believable to me. Although, one thing that did bother me is that Lilah never actually told Alistair that she loved him. I wish we'd gotten that from her. That always bugs me when that happens in any book I read.

Alistair did some very sweet things for her. I loved how he helped her with the things on her list like the convertible drive and the Pretty Woman shopping scene, where she basically got to buy anything she wanted.

Since the stories timeline was very fast and parts of me wanted to have more time with them. Definitely, would've liked to see more of them together. They were cute together.

Overall a pretty cute story. Solid 3 star read. It was an enjoyable read on my birthday. Plus it was nice to read an actual physical book. It's been a while.

A fun concept for a story.

Lilah saves the life of Good Witch Willow, who predicts various aspects of her life and sets the stage for an intriguing journey. As the predictions unfold, the tension mounts, particularly with the looming threat of Lilah's impending demise.

The author's ability to effortlessly draw readers into the narrative is compelling. The story flows smoothly, making it a fun read.

Would you want to know the exact day you will die?
I'm a hard NO.
But if you find out nevertheless, what would you do?
Cry endlessly. (that's a yes from me)
Or make the most of your time left?
As the title suggests, the latter is what this book's heroine, Lilah Goodluck decides to do.

Part of Lilah's embrace of this short timeline is that she isn't entirely sure the prophecy, of sorts, is real. It was just some crazy witch lady rambling. However, she makes the most of her time tackling some of her bucket list items - like learning to skateboard, eating Michelin star restaurant food, and having great sex.

The last one is a bit tricky since she is recently single. But an odd meet cute has her thinking big.
To be clear, there isn't a love at first sight moment in this book, but Lilah's connection with a certain royal seems far from casual. I loved how much he stepped up to help Lilah with her list, and in the process, the connection blossomed.

This book is full of popular tropes to appeal to almost any romance lover. And despite the looming end date, was a fun and enjoyable read overall with two easily likable main characters.

Story 4.5 stars rounded up. Narration 5 stars
So yes, I sat up all night listening because how could I not with a plot line like this. When a witch forecasts that Lilah will die in a week’s time among several other predictions, Lilah has a week to fulfill a bucket list. One other prediction tells her who her soulmate is and after meeting him accidentally, he(Alistair)decides to help her fulfill her list. Even if he’s the illegitimate first born son of the king of England. Rich and ridiculously handsome, not to mention famous, is just the icing on the cake for Lilah.

I love that the author wrote Lilah as a librarian who is totally in love with books. And that one of the books she started rereading as part of her bucket list was a book I enjoyed as well. The main characters were both really well depicted and I enjoyed my time with them. There’s plenty of side characters that added to the story as well. I found the book to be well written as always with this author. It’s a bit spicy too. Instalove didn’t even bother me this time because it all takes place during one week. Highly recommended to adult romance readers.

Even through my slump, the moment I found out a new Kylie Scott's book has dropped, I immediately picked it up.

In a sense, this book has that joyriding feeling to it. Low angst, falling in love with a prince (almost a prince), supportive cast of members, low drama and all. Honestly, it's a type of book you went for whenever you need a lift me up.

In my case, I was expecting a little more substance to the story. A little more twists and turns. A word I detest, but I wanted a little more drama. And it was low on that. Super low, if you ask me. In the end, it just left me feeling unfulfilled. Hell, I wouldn't be mad if Lilah really did die in the end there.

This was fun and silly, which is something I like about this book, but it's also what is keeping me from giving it a higher rating.

This is one of those books that you can have a great time with if you just turn your brain off for a few hours. It has a sort of fairy tale quality, the vibes being a mix of Pretty Woman and Cinderella. There are some bantery moments that I thought were genuinely fun, and who doesn't love a good wardrobe makeover scene complete with naughty fitting room behavior?

However, if you are looking for a story with well-developed characters or like, a plot that stretches beyond the romance, this doesn't quite accomplish that for me.

I think the problem is that there are just too many elements that aren't fully explored. Lilah is a librarian. At least, I think she's a librarian. I know she loves books. Seriously, I just finished this book and we spent so little time with her at her job that I can't quite remember if it actually was her job or if she was just a book lover. Anyway, aside from a few conversations between her and Alistair talking about books they like and libraries she wants to visit, we don't get anything else about her job. I think it would've been sweet to have a scene or two in the library where Alistair gets to watch her in her element and be attracted to her passion for it.

Also, she has a friend. Yep. One whole friend. A friend who is so important to the story that she's in two scenes and whose name I can't recall. All I remember about her is that the book starts at her birthday party and she likes women. Alistair has Lilah beat though, because he has three whole friends/business partners who are in exactly one scene and then are never brought up again. Oh, his job? Thanks for asking. He's a video game maker. Again, it's brought up just in that one scene and we never spend any time after that moment on it.

There's a mention of Alistair having a history of being the guy women date before they meet their soulmate, but it's sort of a throwaway and isn't explored at all. It would've been interesting to maybe dig into that a little more and see how he feels about having that kind of reputation. It doesn't seem like it's really affected him in the slightest, except he gets jealous when his single friend mentions it to Lilah.

Alistair being the illegitimate child of the King of England didn't actually change the story in any significant way. He could've easily just been a successful businessman or maybe a celebrity. There are a few scenes revolving around his parentage, but it honestly felt a little forced. Seriously, the fortune teller was more believable and a more important thread to this story than his royal status.

Speaking of the whole 'fortune teller predicts Lilah's death and also the lottery numbers' thing, I actually don't have a problem with it. I don't mind a speculative element to a romance, and I suppose it is technically the inciting incident to this whole thing. This leads to Lilah making sort of a bucket list of things she wants to accomplish before that point, and Alistair steps in to help her accomplish some of them. This on it's own would be a fun premise. It's not the most original of tropes, but it can make for a fun read. But I don't think it was given the time and development that it needed to be really engaging. If it had been a movie, most of the things she checks off her bucket list would've happened in a montage. I just wish it had been more of a focal point to the story, as opposed to the idea that they needed to hide from the paparazzi because he's famous and she's not.

Oh, and then there was the fake-but-not-really-fake engagement. It was just too much.

The romance itself happens very quickly. They go from strangers to acquaintances to friends/lovers/committed partners in the course of a week. It makes sense in some ways. As I said, this is a story that is taking place over the course of a week or so. But that was the author's choice. She could've made the death prediction a month, six months, a year into the future. Then maybe the romance could've happened at a more gradual, believable pace. It would've given more opportunity for checking items off the bucket list and maybe a few scenes of them doing something other than talking about their relationship or her impending death.

A little nitpicky thing I wanted to add is how nonchalant everyone is about the whole lottery thing. When she first realizes she's won, she's obviously shocked. But they don't even mention how big the prize is. In the next scene with her friend, she tells her she won the lottery. Now, maybe it's just me being nosy AF, but my very first question would be something like, "Holy shit! How much did you win?!" But not Lilah's friend. Apparently winning the lottery in this world is no big deal, because her response is pretty much a "that's nice" and that's it. And we still aren't told how much she's won. Then she tells her parents that she won the lottery, and they're happy for her, but again don't ask her any follow-up questions. She finally tells them (and us) that it's close to a quarter of a million dollars, but you would've thought she said that she won $32.50 for the reaction it gets. I don't get it. I'm sorry, but a quarter million dollars would be life changing money for most people, and here it's mostly met with a shrug.

One more thing that I have to mention because I HAVE TO. It's one of my top pet peeves in books. Silly names. This is a book about a woman who wins the lottery, meets her soulmate, and is predicted to die all in the same week. Her name? Lilah Goodluck. 😑 I mean, it's no Lily Blossom Bloom, but it's pretty bad.

I think at the end of the day, these characters just don't feel real to me. And not just because it's the son of a king and a librarian. There's just so little depth to any of the characters and the things they say and do sort of come out of nowhere for reasons that aren't made clear.

I know I'm being harsh on this book, and maybe it's unfair. I can totally see how this would be a win for a lot of people, and I wouldn't even have a problem recommending it to people looking for a head-empty-no-thoughts sort of read.
