A simple introduction to voting and the election process. Emphasis on "simple." Appropriate for early elementary students. Not a very memorable book. Selected as a 2005 Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People by NCSS and CBC.

The book Pete For President! is a short book about presidential elections. The story is narrated by a third grade boy who is running for class president. It includes a lot of fun facts about elections and is easy for young children to read and understand. I would read this book to my class close to Election Day so that my students would get a little more information about elections and how they work. This picture book would be good for students in kindergarten or 1st grade to read independently.

This book introduces the concept of elections and various ways that candidates try to elicit votes from their constituents. Things get a bit out of hand when two friends compete against one another to become class president. Good learning tool for students learning about the election process and politics.
