Written by Michael Pearl and featuring spectacular artwork by former Marvel Comic artist Danny Bulanadi. First in a series of one-chapter comic books that show Bible stories in a chronological approach. Based on the popular graphic novel, Good and Evil. Great for any child, teen, or as Bible study material. IPBA 2009 Bronze Medal winner, 2009 Forward Book of the Year Finalist.
Well worth the .50 I paid; if you can find this in the bargain bin, buy and read it. If not, that's ok. Danny Bulanadi does an always-professional art job. The publisher seems to have economized by choosing a particularly awful panel to blow up for a less-than-memorable cover. I will admit it's been a few decades since I last read I and II Kings, from which this is adapted. This, however, is in a long tradition of comics adaptations of the Hebrew Bible, and, as usual, is sort of like wearing bathrobes and turbans in a church pageant. Chariot of the gods scene is ok, but this adaptation is less than awe-inspiring when it comes to the experience of the numinous. I think this is designed for the basics of storytelling, but Ahab and Jezebel seem, like all good villains, to have more scenes than Elijah. Is this company still in business?
