The author offers sound, practical tactics when your toddler and pre-schooler (and Mommy, Daddy, too) need several minutes to calm down. We even used a little chair for our toddler with his name on it. If parents explain the WHY the behavior is not appropriate, then give the calming time based on their age, it allows both parent and child the opportunity to focus on next steps rather than anger or hurt. Together, these tactics REALLY DO WORK, as long as the parents choose when to apply wisely. This is not meant to be used for every disciplinary behavior, or it starts wearing down its effectiveness. I would welcome a practical book for TEENS!!!!
