After Visiting Rio, I wanted to read about the history of Brazil and was rewarded for my curiosity, when I read this book. It provides lots of interesting facts about Dom Jao and his wife, which explain Dom Pedro's behavior.

Well-written. I especially love the quotes that the author puts at the beginning of each chapter. Hopefully some events were provided with more background details for those who didnt have much knowledge about brazilian history, but this is still deserving of 5 stars.
