I bought this book at the Legacy Museum when it became apparent I would be unable to see the entire museum in one day. The museum is actually located on the site of a cotton warehouse where Black enslaved people were forced to work, creating enormous wealth for the nation. The book has pictures of the museum exhibits, some text for context and quotes that show the pervasiveness and insidiousness that the years of enslavement have on the generations from then (1600’s) until today, 2023. Unfortunately, this book shows Americans who we were and seemingly, how we are now, albeit perhaps more surreptitious.
